They are getting to experiment with new ingredients, try their hand at a hobby they have always wanted to do, as well as learn with a lot of other eager bakers! Granted the recent fire though just about scared her silly! But shes alright now, maybe.

tell your tale ! :: "Gah, not again!" My diab cries, chasing after the turtle doves which, for the third time today, have managed to wiggle their way out of their decorative goomas cage. "They're out again! Agel-- come on, help me catch them!"

"I told you this wasn't a good idea..." My agel sighs, their voice heavy with lethargy appropriate for someone who's used their wings to track down three turtle doves three times today. Their shoulders sag, and their goo isn't as vibrant as it was that morning. Despite their good nature, they can't help but groan, "Do we really have to go get them? It's obvious they don't want to be part of our goomas celebration..."

"Nonsense!" The diab cries, tossing their paws down indignantly into the crisp snow with a crunch, "If we can't have the three turtle doves for our caroling production, then what will we wheel out onto the stage when the line comes up in our song?"

The agel pauses, tilting their head to the side, "If all you want is for them to be serviceable to a crowd... we could always make some fake ones out of paper mache and put them in there. The audience is sat pretty far back usually, so I doubt they'd notice much difference... and if they did, I'm sure they'd understand why we couldn't use real birds for our show..."

"Agel!" Diab blurts, "You're a genius! Let's get right on that-- stat!"

And diab bolts off to fetch the materials, positively radiating energy, meanwhile agel is still tired. They sigh another tired note, this one tinged with relief, as they follow diab's pawprints.

That night, there were not three turtle doves-- but there were three paper mache doves at least!
Made with love and old newspapers, they sure did the trick. Agel was right after all!

tell your tale ! :: Well very recently my poor agel got a hot cookie tray dropped on their tail, and my similarly poor diab went to grab it with their paws, resulting in two cases of ouchies. Both of them are okay, after all what's baking without a couple minor burn incidents?-- and they've been having a lot of fun at Juniper's Bakery-- despite the fact that my diab keeps hoarding all the good ingredients and, without knowledge, trying to put poisonous berries into the cookies. My agel has had to stop them on more than one occasion from accidentally spoiling the entire batch of cookies altogether-- but all that being said, it's a good team building activity for the two of them! They've found that their differences make them a very odd but unique team, and having one common goal is doing a lot to help them get along and find solutions together. Under ordinary circumstances they wouldn't be interested in spending much time together, much less hanging out, but being able to enjoy baking together has made them... almost friends. They've been cutting out cookies in their favorite goomas shapes, frosting them, and making a delightful mess-- but through it all, even through the burnt paws and tail ends, they've been getting to know and appreciate one another. It's a rare kind of magic, really, that baking has! They've even been talking about other recipes they want to try when the booth is closed up for the season-- so who knows? They might even be baking buddies after their gracious host is done for the goomas season! All in all, they're having a delightful time-- with some hiccups here and there, but a good time nonetheless!

Settled in comfortably now, Anemone and Ursula were beginning to feel as much at home as Chaos did from the moment he strode into the building. They were all gathered around the warm and cozy fire, listening to everybody's stories and getting ready to tell their own. Out of politeness, they waited their turn which was last because they had been the very latest to arrive and didn't want to be accused to stealing anyone's thunder or taking over the story time. Beside that, they were all young and quite curious to hear from others. While they liked to blurt things out and ask a lot of questions, they weren't really used to having their room to speak and really tell a tale to the others, the way Nahla and Neteru often told them stories at night to get them settled into bed before lights-out.

Everyone was talking about the cooking going on at Juniper's Baking Booth, which got the little ones' attention straightaway. They were always hungry, not due to lack of food but out of the plain and simple fact that a young goo always has room for dessert! What could be better than cakes and pies and cookies, after a long day? Especially when it's Goomas and there are gingerbread men and even entire gingerbread houses to be eaten!

Once the room began to grow silent Ursula piped up, "Butterfly baked us a beautiful fruit tart, but the whole thing got burnt to a crisp! Well, it was really just the top layer so we asked if we could have some and she still let us try it! It was so very tasty and delicious, and i loved the candied pears most of all. It was the first time I had ever eaten that in my entire life! I'm thinking I could whip up something like that in my cauldron, if I had a bit of help. Most of the things I make are potions and while I know about all the different effects of herbs and various ingredients, I never focused too much on how they would taste!" She giggled.

"Well I want to bake cookies," Anemone said. "I think Butterfly should have made some cookies like the Apple Cider Chocolate Chip ones that Nahla always bakes for us. Those never get burned, because it's an easy recipe. I think using a torch to make food is a bit dangerous..." He shuddered at the thought.

"Personally I wasn't too hungry going in, but when i saw all the different baked goodies I wanted to try all of them," added Chaos. It was well known that he didn't have much of an appetite. He'd had a rough life and kind of withdrew into himself most of the time, even now that he had a nice home he was still a bit independent and didn't always participate as much as the others. He had a special kinship with Anubis, who had spent a lot of time alone at a point and could really relate to that need.

This year, on the Third Day of Goomas we got three sad, angry, and all around upset children, set up with their birdwatching kits only to find no birds to watch for miles. "Where did they all go?" Eliam said sadly, putting down their camera. "I swear I thought they'd be here today, the song said they would be here. And it's supposed to happen every year! On the third day of goomas, the gobbess gave to me, at least three french hens!" Darkwater grumbled, angrily tapping his paws on the ground. "Well the song was wrong, apparently! There's no birds at all! And to think that I gave up going ice fishing today for this!" Darkwater felt a small paw on his shoulder, calming him down. "It'll be okay, Darkwater, We were all hoping to see birds today." Nomi said, a sad look on their face. "Maybe we can go look at some of my dad's bird books instead? I know he has a lot of them back at the mansion, and I'm sure he'd understand why we're there..." The group was silent as they looked towards each other, and then to the birdwatching equipment all over the ground.

"Fine, it's better than staying out here." Darkwater sighed, grabbing some of the equipment and walking in some random direction- Nomi quickly following. "Hey! Don't walk off without us, you don't even know how to get to my dad's mansion!" Eliam lagged behind, having to grab the remaining items that Darkwater left behind, but kept up well enough. Oh well, at least they had something to do today.

"What do you mean something EXPLODED, Dash!? I thought I told you to be careful!" Emersyn yelled, worry covering her tone. "Well- I didn't explode anything! We're being evacuated right now, and we don't know who did it! I didn't put anything explode-y into my pastry so I don't know what happened!" The whining voice of Dash responded from the phone, causing Emersyn to rub her head slightly in annoyance- serves her right for not being there to protect her husband from himself. While she paused, she heard a sweet voice from the other side of the line, still Dash, but his tone having gone from panicked to loving- the absolute dork. "I saved the cookies I made for you though! As long as your cookies are okay, I'm okay!" Emersyn gave another small sigh, starting to speak as she got up from her chair and put on a jacket. "Yeah, that's- that's very sweet babe. I'm coming over there to make sure everyone's alright. And before you say anything, yes, I'm also staying there because I don't want something to happen to you again while I'm not there." Dash laughed a little on the other end of the line. "Oh, don't worry about it, babe! Cha-Cha's here to make sure I'm okay!"

Emersyn just moved faster, already being out of the door before Dash finished speaking. She didn't trust Cha-Cha with anything, let alone her husband's protection. "Yeah, I'll be over there in a few minutes, try not to let anything else explode."

tell your tale ! :: velle is enjoying getting to bake new and interesting treats! cal, on the other hand, isn’t enjoying it so much. after mixing up some brownie batter together, velle turns away for a second to put the spoon into the sink. “it’s alright, cal - it’s not that bad. it’s fun! and, soon, we can have delicious brownies to share!”
