it's not truly a favorite book of mine, but i really like don quixote by miguel de cervantes. the meta of the book is what makes me like it—characters are aware of the novel they're a part of, no one feels in control of the narrative. the author tells the story like he's compiling translations of something that already exists. he quite literally loses control of the narrative when he publishes the first part and someone else publishes a false sequel, so to combat that, he has characters from the false sequel made to denounce its credibility in the actual second part of don quixote. before that, characters reference the first half of the novel in the second half, startling the main characters and making them question things. the book gets kind of repetitive, so i'm glad i never had to read 100% of it, but the meta and whole "who's in control" of that book is so interesting to me.

Cherries. I love them so much I have them tattooed on my arm. Snack? Probably carrots and ranch or something like that, I can kill a veggie platter with no problem. I don't cook, baking is my thing, so it takes me a while!
