- Since no one's really mentioned it, let me just say that I am thriving in the GAA event; I'm so glad it came back.
(Spoilers for the event story I guess???)
Kinda confused about the talking boat subplot though, since we go to the island with the game already saying we've been there before, but we're introduced to the boat like we've never met this boat before. But we use this boat all the time and used it last time we were here?? Am I just missing something with that or ???
Although I love the story it does highlight how Xinyan only really exists to talk about how she's such good friends with a "famous chef", Xiangling, and also Yun Jin now that she exists.
I've been going slow so not at Mona's part yet, but so far Fischl and Kazuha's islands have revealed things about them that you wouldn't really know (unless you've gained friendship with them) like Fischl's true identity and past and delving into Kazuha's family and what lead him to the choices he's made now whereas Xinyan is just... You talk to an annoying flower, people think the way she dresses is scary which we already knew, and she gets out of some family drama by name-dropping Yun Jin. She plays like a .3 second song and everyone is like "wow, so profound, so amazing". As if.
Poor Xinyan, for sure, but MiHoYo really don't do much to make her an actually interesting character like the others.
Also the stone raven that simps for Mona gave me a good laugh. Proper "whiteknight" vibes.
Although, it feels like a slight oversight that (at least in my experience rushing the event for my friend) there was no dialogue change if you hadn't been to the archipelago before; it was just like you're supposed to know exactly what Paimon is talking about.
