Covering old wounds under a veil of passion. Dulling their aches like the kiss of a loved one.
All while that comforting voice echoed in the background.

Each heartbeat was followed by revitalizing strength.
Its warmth was fierce, albeit welcoming. A fighting spirit unwilling to relent.
It pushed away the most stubborn of shadows and filled the void with glimmering hope.
Readily purging angst and sorrow from this fractured soul.

But not all wounds can be healed. Not all pain can be treated.
They remain entangled amidst the old and new.
All but chisels to reshape our shaken foundations.

For what are us but a patchwork of battle scars?
