I quite frankly have never seen a CS advertisement. I remember joining CS because I saw someone have a pet in their "sniff" on WolfHome

Seconding this; I joined due to seeing someone posting a link to their pet on a different site.

I’m kind of wondering what would be the best way to tackle the C$ inflation, would having more items in the store help? Wouldn’t those with a lot of C$ hoard some store pets for future trading leverage, or are people already doing that and it’s still not making a dent in the inflation?

I find it surprising that a premium currency is facing an inflation, normally it’s the in-game currency like DV’s potato inflation. The only C$ sink is the store, so I would think people would obtain C$ to spend in the store since there are no other sinks; other than trading, but in the end the currency is wanted because they are to be used, right?

This is all just me rambling, I’m lacking a good chunk of knowledge about the history of CS so I apologize if I come off as ignorant ^^

I think a majority of people on this thread agree that it's an issue, but no one can decide what a good sink would be. There have been a lot of good ideas, but some of them won't even be considered (re-released store pets, loot boxes/random boxes is like gambling, etc.)

Would this possibly help the trading community or would this make it more detrimental? I feel like this could go both ways

Perhaps make buying C$ worth more to buy? Basically deflation? Idk how practical that would be

i think a lot of the C$ in circulation right now has been accumulated over the years and theres just so much of it now so maybe doing that would work? however i do feel like the idea of the C$ being spent on new store pets / items might help deflation the most effectively. because the C$ would be going to the store and not to other users, if that makes sense!

making c$ more expensive or something similar will probably slightly decrease the amount going into the game but it wont change how much is already in the game which seems to be an insane amount.
people always will buy store pets so increasing the price of them slowly or even making more will most likely help but i am also very interested in what other people have suggested, adding more items. the store already has so many good items that i and lots of other people still buy but lots of the items have been there for awhile and circulate around the game enough you can just trade for them or get them from the lost and found. the monthly item packs are amazing and i think seeing more items like that released regularly in different category could help

Maybe premium (just slightly more expensive) store sets/pets should be offered as well? If they're a species people want, I'm sure it'll make a great sink.

I joined in 2010, played consistently until 2013, then off and on between 2013-2016. I left in 2016 after I had a forum post locked when it didn’t need to be. The whole situation left a bad taste in my mouth, and the intersection I had with the staff member at that time just ruined the whole thing for me.

In Feb 2010 (when I started) it was fairly easy to get the last half of the 2009 pets, and not impossible to get most of those dogs, although there were exceptions. The site was booming then, and store pets were really just taking off. There had been a few before I started, but even then the Drink Me and Eat Me dogs were hard to trade for.

I’ve only been back for a few days, but I think the issues are largely the same as they’ve always been, only they’ve been amplified by time. Mostly that pet values are way off the charts.

My suggestions would be:

A) After 1+ year of inactivity a player’s pets are taken out of the rarity calculations. When the user signs back in, those pets are readded to the totals. I figure a rarity update should be done every six months or so.

B) These figures should be public. They know exactly how many of these pets are here, and they know how many users there are. Giving us proper data would severely decrease the amount of overpaying, balance the game, and make trades easier to comprehend. Hopefully this wouldn’t crash the economy, however. While it’s considered in bad taste to trade a 2008 Very Rare for a 2012 one, I’d say they’d actually be way closer in numbers than people realize.

C) Pets should be rereleased more often. Maybe a Christmas in July option? It would be nice if they could selectively put out specific pets. Say you get 3 pets in a box. Only rare+, with a higher chance of getting something from 2008-2012 maybe? Or maybe only pets from those years.

D) They should rerelease Store Pets. I’ve spent at least $1000 real life dollars on store pets. But we need more, and their value needs to be checked. Eventually we’ll get to the point where one Store Pet is worth every other pet combined, and that is unsustainable. Perhaps give out something to people that have purchased pets from the store before? Give them a free set or two of new pets. Or a store discount, if they’ve spent so much money.

E) More events. We have little holidays, but those don’t compare to the Easter Egg hunt or Trick or Treating. Or even the advent. I really like my Christmas in July idea with another rerelease gift. And we could collect valentines like eggs/candy in February.

F) More things to do on site. Games to play, competitions, that sort of thing.

We want more people to join, and more importantly, more people to stay.

Totally agree! I know more events can be strenuous, but nearly everyone here has mentioned how stagnant and slow the site gets between events. They don't have to be huge, maybe one week per normal month? And Yes to the site games! Will say it the hundredth time: Rewards
