Hello friends! I have a 9 y/o English Springer Spaniel and we have recently been working on some reactivity training. I normally just use small dry dog training treats, but his highness is recently deciding that although he is super food motivated, that is just not enough for him (a wonder why, his little dry training biscuits aren't cutting it - I feel him on a deep and personal level here).

I am wondering if anyone here has suggestions for good training treats they use. He has no allergies or anything, I am just looking for something a little more enticing to be used as his more "high-value" reward. I would prefer something that also is not going to pack on the pounds with him - he is in great shape and I like him to stay like that (despite my husband's best attempts).

Figured I would throw a line out and see if anyone has training treats they tend to prefer/see a lot of interest in. Thanks!

Gorgeous dog!! My personal favorite high value treats are canned chicken in water, just take a small piece out for each "good" thing they do or one of the carob cookies that look like Oreos lol. They sell them at PetSmart!

My favorite go-to are Happy Howie's treats. I buy the rolls and then chop them up into small cubes. They have Turkey, lamb, and beef options. I have been training nosework, so I needed a treat that wouldn't slime up my hand, wouldn't crumble too easily, could hold their shape, were not hard or dry, and were high value.

So I’ve been working with Dexter (around my hectic cleaning nesting schedule, pregnancy lol) and I’ve been teaching him play dead, which he knows well now, leave it which is still iffy - being a beagle and all lol. His new one is touch. He’s a very skittish dog and building the confidence up by the touch que! He touches his nose to your palm and gets a treat! Guests do it too and he’s becoming less and less reactive! So proud of my boy!

hi! anyone got any opinions or experiences with eukanuba's large breed puppy food? trying to figure out a new food for my lad, and it's proving pretty difficult with all the opinions out there. he's a 6 m.o ridgeback mix, been going on rc's maxi puppy.

its been quite a while since i've posed in this thread ! and so much has moved forward for Hazel and i :) we've made big strides with her reactivity ! last saturday i was took her through the dunkin' drive through and the girl at the window leaned out and gave it to hazel herself, which is not something we could've done a year ago ! it feels good to look back and see how far we've gotten !
hazel has also gotten her first title ! its just her trick novice but its an accomplishment nonetheless :)

on the flip side she's found herself completely separated due to a few scuffles and vet visits later ( including a sideways canine and $800 vet bill later . ouch to my wallet ) . and while it sucks playing crate and rotate and i appreciate all that owning a dog like her is teaching me . sorry for getting sappy lol
here's a recent photo i took o her !

my mom recently started professionally training again and ive been learning under her and helping hold obedience classes with her ! i have also gotten to lead one of our puppies classes and got to meet a super uncommon breed - a spanish mastiff named mira ! she was the softest, most melt-y puppy LOL
