Link to last scavenge session: Noodle go nyoomextra:Oriane prepared to bring the scraps they had found back to the hideout, starting to feel like it was a lost cause to have tried to follow the trail of belongings into the ruins, as they hadn't been able to find any more clues here. Sighing to themself, they slung their sack of scraps over their back when they suddenly felt the fur on the back of their neck stand up on end; something was watching them. They swept their gaze frantically around their environment, fluffing up their fur to appear bigger and scarier in an attempt to prevent themself from being attacked. They slowly backed up, not visibly catching any sign of the threat they had sensed when-
"HI!"
Oriane let out a yelp and jumped in the opposite direction that the voice had originated from, quickly turning around to get a good look at its origin. A rather fluffy werm had been standing behind where Oriane once had been standing, tilting their head in amusement. The purple werm took some time to smooth their fur back down as they began to recover from their near-heart attack.
"Oh, sorry, did I scare you?" The werm asked, tilting their head to the side.
"Who are you?" Oriane questioned. Upon closer inspection, they realized the mystery werm didn't seem to have any kind of scavenger's ID on them.
So they're not a scavenger... what are they doing in the city ruins?"The name's Drizzle!" The werm answered, twitching her bushy tail behind her.
"What are you doing out here? It's a bit dangerous for inexperienced werms out in the city ruins." Oriane asked, "Did you lose your way back home?"
"I've just been out here on my own for a while... y'know traveling from place to place, building dens out of debris- hey, is that my scarf?" Drizzle responded, taking an interest in the rags that had been wrapped around Oriane's neck.
"This?" Oriane questioned, unwrapping it and holding it in their paws. "It could be. I'd found it while scavenging in the city outskirts a few days ago. It's a bit dirty, but do you want it back?"
Drizzle nodded vigorously, quickly taking the scarf. "Thanks for finding this, I tend to lose things often and then never see them again. This scarf is special to me though, it's the only thing I have left of my parents. I was so worried when I couldn't find it."
"Glad I could help." Oriane replied, getting an idea. "Hey, how would you like to live with me in my hideout?"
"Really?" Drizzle asked, tilting her head to the other side. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, don't worry about it." Oriane responded. "I live alone, and there's been a lot of vacant rooms ever since..." They faltered a bit, before shaking their head to clear out their thoughts. "Anyways, follow me. I need to drop off these scraps I found, and we can wash your scarf later once I get some soap."
"Okay!" Drizzle responded, somehow seeming even more cheerful than before as she bounded after her new friend.
Oriane opened the door with their tail, slinking inside as they turned on the lights. "Alright, I'll give you a few moments to get settled while I go put the scraps in the scrap box." they told their new companion before going up the stairs.
Drizzle went over to the washing machine and rested her scarf on top of it, before running off to explore the home. She eventually found one of the vacant rooms that Oriane had spoken about, immediately going to bounce on the soft bed. She giggled a bit before noticing the large window that covered one of the walls almost completely, going over to look at it after she had gotten that little burst of energy out. She didn't notice just how high up their hideout was, until realizing just how much of Eaden she could see from this room.
Oriane opened the door and had at last located Drizzle within the house. "I see you've chosen the room you wanna hunker down in?" they remarked, seeing Drizzle staring out the window in awe, who gave them a slight nod. "Alright, then get yourself ready. We're about to go."
"Where? We just got here!" Drizzle exclaimed turning to look at them.
"Scavenging." Oriane responded, "It might take some time to get your ID filled out, and I wanna take you on your first scavenging trip before the sun sets."
"Alright- just give me a minute!" Drizzle answered.
Oriane nodded before bounding off towards the front door, looking back towards their new associate. For the first time in a while, the house felt one werm less empty.
"What's this?" Drizzle questioned as Oriane handed her a slip of paper and a pen.
"It's your ID form, you gotta fill it out and get your picture taken, and then they'll print out your Scavenger's ID so I can take you scavenging with me." Oriane responded.
"Sounds complicated." Drizzle stated. "Why would I need that?"
"It's so other scavengers are able to identify you in case something happens to you while you're out scavenging." Oriane answered. "It can be very dangerous out there, so it's good that these safety precautions are put in place to prevent bad things from happening."
"...Okay, if you say so." Drizzle replied, going over to one of the tables to fill out the sheet of paper.
