I want to live,
Where Soul Meets Body.
And let the sun,
Wrap it's arms around me."Alright, sweetie-pie. You want to play some hide-and-go-seek? Who is going to be it first?" My father asked me, his eyes crinkling in a smile. "You, papa. You're always it first!" He chukcled at me, ruffling my hair. "That's right, darling. I'm going to start counting now!"
'Cause in my head,
there's a greyhound station.
Where I send my thoughts,
to far-off destinations,
where they're far more suited that here.I began to run, my little feet pit-pattering along the concrete. I noticed the gate was open- I hardly ever see it open. Maybe I could hide wherever the gate leads to- he'll never look there. Not in a million years.
And I cannot guess,
what we'll discover.
When we turn the dirt,
with our palms cupped like shovels.
But I know our filthy hands,
can wash one another's.
And not one speck will remain.The gate creaked when I pushed it open a wee bit more so I could push through. It was the sidewalk, and the street. If I hid across the street, he'll never find me. I quickly trotted off the sidewalk, into the street, running across as fast as my feet could carry me. I had to hide before he stopped counting!
And I do believe it’s true,
That there are roads left in both of our shoes.
But if the silence takes you,
Then I hope it takes me too.I hardly noticed the car as if plowed towards me. It didn't even slow down! I saw the driver, laughing as he talked to the man beside him. I bet he couldn't even see me. The impact was terrible- every single one of my bones shattered at once, blood seeping from my mouth, my nose... and the wheels grinded at my flesh in a most horrible manner. "DADDY!" Was all I mananged to scream before the darkness engulfed me.
So brown eyes I hold you near,
Cause you’re the only song I want to hear.
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere.{perspective changes to james}
Her blood was everwhere. On the windshield of the car, on the tires, on the road, and all over her frail, lifeless body. The first thing that alarmed me was her scream. Then I saw the gate was open. Disaster was immenent. "Lillian?" I whispered, my voice faltering. "Lilly-girl?" I held her in my arms, her blood seeping through my clothes. "I found you." I cried softly, burying my face in her dress. "It's your turn to be it." It was so strange holding her. She was so cold, and I couldn't feel her heart beating, or her breathing. I could hardly tell there were other people around me. Paramedics, spectators, firemen... it didn't matter to me. All that mattered was my baby girl.
{one week later}
"Lillian was the bravest young woman I had ever met." There was silence throughout the whole graveyard. It seemed like the whole world was holding it's breath. "Her life ended when she was only 5 years old. But she'll live on forever. Right here." I said, pointing to my chest. "In our hearts."
