“Harespring had been doing an admirable job as the clan’s deputy, Cloudpool reflected, as he watched the dark gray tom sending out the day’s patrols. His new duties certainly kept him busy, but with some advice given by Morningstar and Woolyfur, Harespring had managed to balance out his time well. Shimmerpelt had taken on an active role in the nursery helping the queens, and Mottledshade had joined her, allowing the queens to rest more. 12 kits could cause more than a little chaos. The medicine cat had decided to help out as well, taking two or three kits at a time to his den and teaching them about his job. Cloudpool hoped his teaching of the kits would reveal a possible new apprentice. His own daughters had not shown too much interest so far, with Echokit boasting about how she’d be the best warrior the clan had ever seen and Moonkit trying to seem interested, but growing bored almost immediately. One of Harespring and Juniperfoot’s kits, Mosskit, however, had been interested. She’d been curious and attentive, eagerly asking questions about what the herbs did and how to use them. After her interest, the medicine cat had been hopeful but he’d continue working with all the kits in the next few moons. He hadn’t even brought Owlheart’s litter into the medicine den since Softkit and Quailkit were still only a moon old. Once the pair were a bit older, he’d test their interest in becoming a medicine apprentice, but for now, they were still clinging to their mother’s side as they got used to their young lives.

“Morningstar!” Poppypounce called as she slipped into camp, lemon-yellow eyes wide with excitement. The hunting patrol she’d been assigned to had been back long enough for the dilute tortoiseshell to decide that she wanted to spend the dwindling afternoon basking on the sun-baked rocks just outside camp, only to see Lilystem and Wrenpaw returning from training with two unfamiliar cats, a silver ticked tabby tom and a gray tabby molly. Wrenpaw was sticking close to the female’s side, while the tom was chattering away to Lilystem, who looked as if she would rather be anywhere else. “Lilystem’s brought strangers.” She said as Morningstar emerged from his den, moving slowly, the way he had begun moving lately due to his achy joints. Nearby, Harespring disentangled himself from his kits, and went to stand next to Morningstar, allowing Juniperfoot to round up their kits with Laurelpaw, who had been playing with them as well. Curious faces turned towards the camp entrance as Lilystem led the group in. The silver tom looked boldly around, flashing flirtatious winks at Thymepool and Mottledshade, the latter of which shot a pointed look as she leaned into Pigeonflight, nuzzling the tom affectionately, making her relationship with her mate clear. The tom did not seem bothered though, only amused as he grinned at the tortoiseshell’s response. In contrast, the little molly beside Wrenpaw looked withdrawn and anxious as she glanced with big eyes around the Caveclan cats watching them. Morningstar tilted his head questioningly at Lilystem and then the strangers, hazel eyes studying them thoughtfully. “I found them wandering through our territory as Wrenpaw and I were training. They asked to speak with you.” Lilystem told him, glancing at the pair. The tom gave her a confident, cocky glance before dropping into a deep bow before Morningstar, who looked somewhat bemused by his behavior. “I’m Narcissus and this youngster here is Fernpaw.” He paused, letting his tail sweep towards the molly besides Wrenpaw. “I saved her life today as I was traveling to come join your clan. If you needed any proof of my worth, that is it.” Morningstar nodded slightly before shifting his attention to the molly. “I’m Nee-” The gray tabby paused for a moment, green eyes troubled, before correcting herself, “Fernpaw. I’m Fernpaw, formerly Needlepaw of Mistyclan. M-my clan has disbanded, and I have been searching for a new clan to join..” A few soft murmurs rose from the surrounding Caveclan cats. Spottedwish and Spikebush exchanged sympathetic glances and Burrwhisker flinched, eyes darkening as he thought back to the last days of Tumbleclan. Mintwhisker was quiet, gazing sorrowfully at the apprentice. It was hard to join a new clan, especially when you didn’t know anyone. He’d been lucky to have known Poppypounce before his former clan had disbanded. Her friendship had made him feel more comfortable among his Caveclan clanmates.
Fernpaw’s ears twitched with slight discomfort as Morningstar murmured his condolences. The disbandment of her clan was not something she wanted to discuss with so many of the Caveclanners watching. “Never fear! You will no longer be alone, now that I’ve rescued you and escorted you to this strong clan.” Fernpaw eyed Narcissus for a moment, shifting her paws slightly. She had not been in trouble at all. In fact, the black silver ticked tom had scared away the finch she’d been hunting, all in the name of saving her from what he’d called “a nasty beast.” Fernpaw wasn’t sure if he’d meant her finch as the “nasty beast,” or not, but his interruption had not been entirely welcome. She’d tried to correct him but Narcissus wouldn’t hear a word of it. “You are both welcome as Caveclan’s newest members.” Morningstar told them. Pigeonflight was assigned as Fernpaw’s mentor and Laurelpaw eagerly volunteered to show the new apprentice their den. With Wrenpaw still hovering protectively by the new apprentice’s side, he and Laurelpaw began escorting Fernpaw towards the apprentice’s den. Harespring led Narcissus, who’d elected to keep his name the same, towards the warriors den, where he let Sunstripe and Emberslash take over touring the new warrior around the camp. As the brother’s showed Narcissus around, the silver ticked tom could be heard launching into a story of how he’d once rescued a cat lost in a cave just like their camp.

“ Pinyonclan’s leader. How could I possibly do this? Sagestar opened her eyes to gaze in awe at the base of the shallow waterfall fed pool, her mind flashing through all the events that had led up to this moment. Up until a few days ago, she’d been a perfectly normal kittypet. Well perhaps, not exactly normal. Sage had not been the typical kittypet as she’d always preferred to be out of her house folk's home and exploring. As a kitten, her mother had told her and her siblings stories about the wild cats living far from twolegs, making a life for themselves. The stories had always fascinated her and Sage had grown up dreaming of herself as a clan cat. The silver tabby had never expected to actually be a clan cat, much less a leader, but still, Sagestar felt as if this was exactly where she was meant to be. Slipping out of the little cave, she paused to look over the dense cluster of foliage that made up the little camp she’d found. The very place that Starclan had told her that Pinyonclan had formerly resided in before their destruction many moons ago. They’d tasked her with reforming their clan from the descendents of Pinyonclan, who’d been scattered. Sagestar herself was a descendent of the old Pinyonclan members, of their last leader. The old camp had been abandoned for moons but even with the passage of so much time, it was still perfect. Small hollows in the ground under the giant sagebrush and rabbitbrush would make the perfect nest and she’d chosen a hollow under the canyon cliff for her own den. A tree provided some covering over the opening of the hollow as well as for another hollow next to it, that would serve as another den when needed. With one last glance over the Pinyonclan camp, Sagestar headed out to explore her new territory.

The wind whistled over the mountains as the sun rose in the horizon, a family of five cats helped each other up. It a tortoiseshell looked incredibly worried as she followed her mate, trying to make sure her kits can keep up. "Palemoon, please, we need to take a break, my paws are going numb and the kits are hungry." "Turtleshine, honey, we're so close." He turned his head back to blink assuringly at his mate, but she didn't feel any better about it. "So close to what? Death?" Palemoon stopped walking, causing the tortoiseshell to almost trip over him. "Palemoon!" She hissed. "Shh.." Palemoon turned his head back, moving to press his head against hers, but she pulled away. "No, Palemoon. I'm done with this, the kits and I are climbing back down, to the warm safety of the forest. There is no clan here. Face it."

With a huff, she turned to leave, but she yelped as Palemoon pulled her back. "There's a fox." He quickly whispered, lowering himself. Turtleshine froze, staring at the movement of white snow. After breaking free from her frozen state, she quickly scooped up her kits with her tail and pulled them close. The fox's head burst out from the snow before hopping away from the cats, seemingly unaware of their presence. She narrowed her eyes, once the fox left she nipped her mate's ear. "Palemoon, I love you, I really do, but do you have to be so difficult, really?"

Finally the cats made it to a small cave, the sun was high in the sky now, but she and her kits needed a break. "Palemoon." She whispered. The tom turned to look at her. "What's wrong?" He narrowed his eyes in confusion. "Do you... Think they're still alive? Nightstar, Vixenface, everyone?" Palemoon sighed. "I'm sure. Most definitely sure." Turtleshine could tell in his tone that he really wasn't sure and was just trying to comfort her, but she managed to keep herself relaxed.

Smallfox was not supposed to be outside so late in her pregnancy, but she was too cramped in the nursery to stay there for what felt like a hundred seasons. She placed a single white paw outside of the cave, in one of the many hidden exits, and she noticed familiar purple eyes staring back at her. She felt hot with embarrassment and almost retreated back to the nursery, but... "Smallfox, hey, come out for a moment." Smallfox squeezed through the small hidden exit. "I'm not gonna get upset with you, I left camp a couple of times later in my pregnancy, and I'm not a hypocrite." She chuckled to herself. "Come with me, Smallfox. I'll walk with you to make sure you're safe and keep you warm." Smallfox dipped her head gratefully, and followed the chocolate she-cat.

"I know the safest route!" Lavendereyes purred. "I'm glad." Smallfox's response was quiet, and Lavendereyes seemed to noticed, getting worried. "Are you okay? In a lot of pain? In that case, we should turn back before any... accidents happen." Smallfox thought about it for a short moment, before her thoughts were interrupted by spotting pawprints in the snow. Lavendereyes seemed to notice them to, she was staring right at them, though her gaze revealed nothing about what she thought. "Uh... We should probably check out where these pawprints lead..." Smallfox murmured.

"Okay. Just this once, then, we're heading straight back." Lavendereyes finally mewed, after what felt like an eternity of silence.

Turtleshine slowly moved to stretch out her body, a yawn escaping her. She didn't know what woke her, but at least her kits and Palemoon were still asleep. Blinking sleep from her eyes, she rolled over only to suddenly be right in front of snowy white paws. Turtleshine glanced up sleepily at whatever was in front of her and yelped. Scrambling back to accidentally crash into her mate, who awoke with a jump. "Huh-" The tom suddenly froze, only able to whisper an almost-silent "oh."

As Turtleshine locked eyes with the snowy-white animal, she thought that this must've been the fox they had seen just before. It titled it's head, before turning back to the tiny cave's exit. "I told you! There's a bunch of cats living here." One of Turtleshine's ears flicked, she glanced back at Palemoon who was watching in a mix of both fear and curiosity. It wasn't long before a taller, definitely-cat stepped inside, they had the strangest purple eyes she had ever seen, though she was still wary.

"Did you confuse Smallfox, here, with an arctic fox?" The cat asked, tilting their head. Turtleshine, glanced at what she thought was a fox, but was only now seeing that they weren't even the right shape to be a fox, and their muzzle was far too short. "Yeah, must've." Turtleshine muttered, stepping away from Palemoon. "Smallfox... that sounds like a clan cat name." Purred Palemoon. He turned to Turtleshine and she could already see by the glint in his eye that he was going to brag about being right. "N-Now hold on, this could just be a group of cats, and Smallfox just happens to have clan-catlike name..." "No, no, he's right." Mewed the taller chocolate smoke with lavender eyes. "My name is Lavendereyes, and we're from ArcticClan."

Turtleshine could only let out a quiet sigh as Palemoon pushed her playfully. "Told you so! I knew it! I could feel it." But as soon as Palemoon left his position, she heard a gasp from Smallfox. "Kits?!" Smallfox ran over to Turtleshine's sleeping kits. "Aw... they're so tiny... How old are they?" "Only a moon." Replied Palemoon, beaming. "A moon? I hope you didn't take them all the way up this mountain, then." "Palemoon insisted that we did." Mumbled Turtleshine. "I couldn't just leave him to scale the mountain alone, especially if that meant I had to carry my kits unguarded through unfamiliar territory..."

"Palemoon..." Mewed Lavendereyes. "So you guys come from a clan, too..." Her voice sounded guarded and more wary now." Turtleshine flicked and ear and moved to her kits' side. "Well we did... But Fateclan had to split up because we were split up because of a disaster hit our camp." Turtleshine gave her mate a look. Why was he making stuff up? Lavendereyes' gaze softened, nodding. "Okay. Smallfox, help them bring the kits to camp." Lavendereyes turned to the white feline before staring at Turtleshine with narrowed eyes. "... I don't know your name." "Turtleshine." She responded, picking up Smokekit from the bundle of kits. "Okay, Smallfox will help you, Turtleshine, back to camp. Palemoon, you should also bring one of the kits. I will help you."

Lavendereyes soon made it back to camp, each cat except herself carrying one of the three kits. "You left camp?" Mewed Dunlinswoop, who was guarding the camp's entrance. "Wasn't it also said no cats will be joining at this time?" "No kits." Whispered Sunbird, the other camp guard, to Dunlinswoop. "Okay, point still stands, you have kits, here, so you can't bring them in." Lavendereyes sighed softly. "Please get out of our way or we'll find another way in." Her patience was running out.

Dunlinswoop and Sunbird exchanged a quick glance before shuffling out of their way, allowing all of them inside.

Common pelt colours, fur lengths, etc.: White, light grey, sometimes lilac and light chocolate pelts. Normally tabbies and spotted tabbies, if not solid. Heterochromia is uncommon but not too rare, common eye colours are light amber, blue and green. Long furs and medium hairs are very common.

If you see extra names in brackets next to a cat's normal name, that's just their nickname! Not all cats will have them, but if they do have them, that's how they'll be addressed within the clan.

Only cats who have NOT been found on patrol or via request will be on the 'this moon's actions' list.

Scars are fine with all cats, but target cats marked with ^ for scars if possible!

Petalstar was in the newly furnished nursery when the cries rang out that the scouting patrol was back. She settled in comfortably, watching her two kits and their adopted siblings slowly try to get their legs under control as they crawled around their little corner of the nursery. Across from them, the older kits watched in confusion, before going back to their wild antics and being chased out into the main area by their mothers. Buntingbelly shook her head, laughing at her three moon old kits as they took off to play their own, much rougher game, dragging the other litter who was only a few days younger with them. Morninglight's kits looked after the older kits longingly, but set about finding a moss ball suitable to be played with.

It was as the older kits settled into their game that a second round of cries went out, and there was a rush of paw steps to the nursery. "Petalstar!" Lièvreshell called, darting in, careful to watch his step, "The scouts, they found it! They found a way out!"

Petalstar froze, her brain going a mile a minute. She knew that they had moved closer to the tunnel she had found, but she never dreamt that a patrol would cross two bodies of water to find it. "How? We've scoured the cave for moons and found nothing. Where did you find a way out?"

"It was honestly an accident it seems," Lièvreshell bubbled, grinning with excitement, "Charcoalpatch, one of the new warriors? He saw a like. I don't know what it is, it was made of trees by two legs. But he saw it next to a deep stream and wanted to cross it, so he did! And when they got across they could feel fresh air, so they dragged the floater to the other stream, floated across, and there it was! It's not big, but big enough for a full grown cat to squeeze through. This opens up whole new avenues of prey we could bring back, as well as herbs for Hollowsong."

Petalstar paused, readjusting based on the tom's answer. "Cats aren't planning on leaving the caves permanently?"

"No one's mentioned it. Everyone seems mostly excited by the ability to get prey easier, and to get out in the sunlight grass again for a while." He paused, thinking, "Most of them are excited that now if we find more cats, we can tell them how to get out if they want to. They seem to feel responsible that no more cats are trapped like we were."

A wave of relief washed over Petalstar, and she nodded, "I wasn't sure how many would feel that way. I obviously can't move much until my kits are older, so I was hoping some would be willing to stay for a while, but it's very honorable that so many want to help the others that may come after."

Lièvreshell nodded, "Well, they've had that expectation set for them from the beginning. Everything from forming a clan to the assigned mate ships was to protect the people around us as much as possible. And all of that was from you."

Petalstar smiled softly, corralling her son and gently grooming the grit from his fur, "Well, I'm glad of it either way. I'll have to address them formally, but until then please warn them to be careful? We don't know how much The Thing visits streams, and it could be risky crossing too often."

Lièvreshell smiled back, nodding in agreement, "Of course. No use provoking it more than needed at least."
