Name: Jio
Gender: Male
Breed: Arabian
History:
As the days and weeks passed, the children who usually took care of him slowly and steadily forgot their duties. It got to the point where he had had no food for five days, when finally he decided he would put up with it no longer.
He gazed up the road up to the farmhouse, where the children lived with their parents. he rarely saw the parents, for they were never home. He waited patiently, in hopes that the children had not forgotten him, that this was simply a dream. When a long time passed and no one came, he whinied loudly and snorted, in hopes that the children would hear him. No one came. Finally, he knew what he had to do. He had to run away. Although this had been a good home when the children had thought he was amazing and would never leave his side, he was a thing of the past now, and he would starve if he stayed here. He could already make out his ribs, a horrible sign for a horse. Or any animal really. He looked back to the farmhouse and sighed, but he had made his decision.
That night, when the moon was full and would provide good company, when the stars shone brighter than the sun, when the pine trees branches swayed softly in the wind, he silently pawed at the ground. Jio galloped to the side of the pen, where his back legs coiled like springs and let loose. He soared over the fence and into the yard beyond it. He was free! Or so he thought for the moment. Jio heard shouts coming from the oldest boy, Ari, "Come on! I heard something over here!" and then the sobs of young Annabelle as they discovered his pen empty. "Was he stolen?" Jesse cried, "Did he run away?!" Joshua yelled. "That fence is to tall for a horse to jump." said a man with a deep voice that Jio did not recognize. He realized it must be the father, the stallion, or man of the house. "Come children, let's get inside. He'll surely be back tomorrow." A female voice, the mother probably, trying to coax the children inside. Slowly the children trudged down the long dirt road that lead to their house. As they began walking, rain started to fall, and soon all of them were running, their feet covered with layers and layers of mud. Jio bet their feet would stink later. As he watched them all scuddle through the door of their house, he saw Lily, the youngest, turn around and look back at his pen, and he suddenly felt bad. She had always touched his nose with such gentleness, and when she road him she was calm, and didn't make him so tired he couldn't ride for days, like Ari and Joshua did. The drops of water landing on him broke him out of his trance. He squinted his eyes to make sure they were all in the house, and then he started trudging away through the mud, he only allowed himself to look back once, and that one time he saw Lily at the front door, a hard look on her face, staring at his had-been pen, then her mother came out and hurried her inside. Glancing nervously over her shoulder. What's wrong with her? Jio thought. Jio snorted and began walking on his long journey to nowhere.
Personaility: Has a warm smile, loves company, is iffy around others until he knows them better, his tough, cold outer layer melts for Gingi, who is the leader of the herd he finds, is patient, feeling of neglect lingers around him.
Other: If I get him then I will finish the story about how he has to travel far and how he finds the herd and Gingi!
