it changed a lot because the people who didnt grow out of it grew out of the things kids often do on the game (e.g. roleplaying, fashion shows, stuff like that) it's mostly the same players but wildly different since the people on there aren't grade schoolers anymore. course that doesn't mean kids aren't on there anymore and that those things don't happen anymore but it's more of a primary audience shift.

Classic hasn't gotten updates in years, though supposedly WildWorks is hoping to start updating it again. Play Wild has been getting some (arguably better-looking) new animals as usual, the most recent being a wolverine. They also pulled a somewhat controversial move though, and recently introduced these things called "Super Boxes", which are premium bundles that you have to spend real money to get. The first one was back in June, it was a golden bundle, came with some gold phantom armor and some gold pet tokens which gave, of course, solid gold, sparkly pets. Newest one just came out yesterday, it's a mushroom bundle that comes with a toadstool frog, toadstool clothing pieces, some animated wallpaper and flooring, and a mushroom tree that grows sort of like those mystery seed packets from way back when.
If you wanna know anything more specific, don't be afraid to ask. ^^
