Backfilling for months -pensive-

Summary: the detectives - Arum, Quick, River, Evening - find the bones of who they assume to be Stickle and Fox's bodies, as they find small tufts of fur (silver for Stickle, ginger for Fox), and report these findngs to Carrot. Icy seethes inwardly and calls for a meeting. Limpet has finally put two and two together and wants out, but he knows all too well he could die by Icy or Willow's claws.

Icy, Adder, Willow, Tempest, Avocet, Thunder, and Aquilegia gather where Stormfang had killed poor Fogkit many, many moons ago, Limpet being excused since he was being treated in the med cats' chamber, and discuss their course of action. They decide to lie low to let the Hurricane mess (Avocet is unapologetic about this though) die down. Avocet isn't happy, as she knows her group of rogues is impatiently waiting for the signal to strike at any moment in time.

Meanwhile, as Winter readies to send her two kits - Candle and Glow - off to the apprentices' chamber after their ceremonies next moon, she can't help but wonder if the murders of all the cats so far were all at the paws of her well-meaning, but absolutely misguided brother, and expresses her concerns to the rest of the queens. Ripple and Soft immediately conclude they need to report this to Carrot.

Sand presses Avocet for answers, but Avocet refuses, proclaiming her innocence and loudly expressing concerns about Sand's apparent paranoia. Dapple is starting to suspect Avocet now, but before she, too, could ask the black-and-white molly, Brambling defends her, surprising Sand and Dapple as this was unexpected.

Everything ends soon.

Raincloud tried as hard as she could, Her entire body trembled as she licked her little kit, trying to rouse him to wake up. Greyspot looked at the ground, upset. "It was my fault.. If only I had been there." The medicine cat thought to herself. "Come on little one.." Raincloud spoke, still in denial of what happened. "Raincloud.. I'm sorry.. I don't think he made it." "No! He's just asleep! He can't be dead!" Greyspot's tail wrapped around Raincloud's back. "Raincloud, I'm seriously sorry. I think that your little one joined starclan before he even got the chance.." "No.. NO! W..why! I was a good mother. I made sure to keep still and do all that you suggested!" The grieving mother closed her eyes and bowed her head. "Raincloud, you are a good cat. A amazing cat. You have been amazing with taking care of Snowkit and Gingerkit. Sometimes, these things just happen. No matter how hard you try, the worst thing that you could ever imagine would happen. if anything it's my fault. I should have stayed at the medicine den when you were about to kit."

The two grown ups were intrupted by Marshstar. "Guys we found two new-" She paused, looking at Raincloud, and than at the kit. Than Raincloud, than the kit. "I..I'm so sorry Raincloud. Take all the time you need. We'll are be here for you." "..Thank you Marshstar. I think I want to remain a Queen." Marshstar's ear pulled back. "But.. you're only kit just-" "No, I do have a kit. Gingerkit. Marshstar, he needs me. I'm his mother now. Besides.. I don't see myself hunting. I can if you wish me too, I don't want to lounge around here." The leader shook her head. "No, taking care of the kits is important. The next generation will someday outlive us. Our mothers and fathers had us to follow in their pawsteps, and our little ones will someday do the same." Raincloud smiled just the tinist bit. She missed her kit dearly, but she was determined to take care of Gingerkit. Although, she did need some time to herself, which Greyspot and Marshstar could sense.

Everyone’s like, wth Nightfall, why are you such a pregnant lady magnet? Northstar is furious when she finds out. Whetley does not share her anger and persuades her that everything will be alright. She spends more time with Bacup.

More pages are hurt and need to be taken care of by Amber. There’s nearly more pages than mentors. Woodpaw is ready to take his final assessment, but he wants to wait for his sister.

Gentleman is being kind of a loner. He still trains his page and goes on patrols as the head knight, but after that he confides to his solitude. Shark observes him and starts thinking that Gentleman might be going insane. He often takes his apprentice to the side and whispers things to him. Wildpaw does not seem too happy about it.

Amber and Zoe worry about Sapphire. They spend long nights talking about their future.

ixxx▬flypaw wrung her tail between her paws, worry palpable in her tone and her brow heavily furrowed. "what if i fail," she said, exasperated, as if she'd already explained this several times before. "and then not only will i be totemclan's first apprentice, but then i'll be totemclan's first apprentice to fail."
ixxx▬hemlockhide swatted at her ear. "stop being negative," he chastised, his tall, lanky form a stark contract to flypaw's stout fuzziness. "you've got this, i know you do. now stop being such a grump, you're starting to sound like fignewt."
ixxx▬"hey!" flypaw protested, though she felt her anxieties begin to ease a smidge. she inhaled slowly and nodded once. her friend delivered a swift lick of good luck over her head before she dipped her head in acknowledgement to baldstar. she was ready.

ixxx▬yumapaw was chattering nonstop when the incident occurred. she and mirra were supposed to have been practicing her fishing skills, but the lake was still far to cold to be comfortable with, and mirra wasn't the fondest of fish, anyway. they'd opted to practice tracking, instead, and were following the scent of one a strange cat through the territory (a scent trail that a later patrol would pick up and would lead to bubblekit and leeknose, the grandsire/grandkit duo who looked nearly identical).
ixxx▬"and sourpaw says that he and viperfang are learning how to - " yumapaw's cheery words were cut short by a bloodcurling scream. mirra knew the sound all too well and immediately whipped towards her daughter with all of the fierceness a mother could hold.
ixxx▬the fox was mangey looking, red clumps of fur sticking out in every which way as a darker coat began to grow in.. it was atop yumapaw, having sprung when the apprentice ventured too close to the den it was residing in for the time being, claws sinking into her shoulders, crimson streaks began to mar the dark molly's coat, the fox's teeth bared as it reared back to sink it's jaws around yumapaw's neck.
ixxx▬mirra, quite frankly, was not going to let that happen. she coiled her rear legs beneath her and launched at the fox, colliding with it with her forepaws and yowling her rage. her claws sank into fox's flank and she used the grip to pull herself closer, sinking her teeth into it's shoulder until they scraped against something hard. a metallic tang flooded her mouth as the fox let out another violent caterwaul and scrambled to flee mirra's ferocity.
ixxx▬as the fox began to flee, mirra released it, dashing to yumapaw within an instant.
ixxx▬"help!" mirra yowled into the forest, hoping her voice would reach a nearby patrol as she heaved yumapaw onto her back and began the uphill trek back to camp.

ixxx▬yumapaw would make a full recovery, fignewt told them later after hours of putting pressure upon the long streaks of flesh missing from her flank. but she had to rest for quite some time. mirra was overcome with relief, as were sourpaw and tempestpaw, who'd arrived back at camp just after their mother and sister. yumapaw, however, had her face screwed up in tragedy. resentment boiled in her tummy - why her!?
