Shadowclaw watched the departing patrols with annoyance. If he had woken up earlier he could have gone out, now there were too many cats out on patrol so he should stay in camp. He walked over to the pitiful mouse and shrew where the prey pile should be, then shook his head in disgust. 'These aren't even close to enough to fill a grown cat's belly' he thought grumpily. He turned away and caught sight of the nursery. An idea hit him. He scooped up the shrew with its tail in his mouth and trotted towards the nursery. He looked uneasily at Molesprout and the cats gathered near him, then skirted around and entered the nursery. "Risingshine?" He meowed, "I brought a shrew for the kits, I can teach them the hunting crouch and how to pounce if you would like? Give you a little break?" He gazed at the kits and longing filled him, he wanted an apprentice so badly, maybe Lightningstar would let him mentor one of these kits.

Pixie lay curled in her dank dark bed in the rotten log. Her paws twitched and she shivered in her sleep.

Stormpaw's ear twitched as she listened to her denmate. "You're probably right," she meowed. "It's more than likely going to be a simple test of battling techniques and seeing how well we can perform them." When Lightningstar mentioned the foxes she sighed softly. "It's been three moons since any fox has been seen around here. The last one seen was the one that killed Thunderstrike."

MoonShadow walked along the side of the bushes and tree roots, scenting things as she walked. She picked up a scent of something and flicked her tail. If an apprentice was near she would want them to attempt to make a catch. They needed the praise more than she did. Her gaze flicked around, landing on Rainpaw but the apprentice looked busy.

With a flick of her ear, MoonShadow turned to focus on the scent she was picking up, walking towards it and carefully stepping onto the root of a tree so she could have a little more of a look. A squirrel was nibbling on some food when her eyes landed on the creature. She almost felt bad for salivating at the thought of it being a next meal. With a careful leap, she landed somewhat gracefully on the squirrel. She took a quick nip to it's neck and closed her eyes to thank StarClan for the meal.

Her head raised once again as she looked for a place to bury her catch for the time being, she didn't want to get in the way of anyone's pile. Flicking her tail as she glanced around, she noticed a small area by an almost rotten log. She nodded to herself, out of the way enough, but easy to remember when retrieving the meal. As she approached, the squirrel hung from her jaws, it's bushy tail almost touching the ground. She approached the log and began to dig a small hole when she noticed something moving , breathing? In the log. MoonShadow quickly buried the prey, covering it to mask the smell. before taking a cautious glance into the log.

Her blue eyes landed on a small kit , "woah" she breathed in surprise. MoonShadow wasn't sure what to do. She placed her paws on the log and brought herself closer to the kit, nudging it with her nose. "Are you okay?" she asked unsure if it was even able to hear her. She watched it's stomach rise and fall so at least it was alive.

MoonShadow looked over her shoulder and called softly to the patrol "Guys, come here!"

OceanPaw returned to the group after burying the mouse , she silently fell back into the group and hoped no one had noticed her absence. This is where she felt she differed from other apprentices. While some -- most others would want the praise. OceanPaw didn't - she knew her father would never let her hear the end of it. She would just wait until the patrol was heading back, quickly uncover the mouse and then stay behind them as they returned. Sneaking it onto the prey pile would be the biggest challenge.

NightFrost nodded as LightningStar motioned for the patrol to head out. He dipped his head and followed the patrol towards the forest. He kept his head low as the walked, taking in the surroundings. He scented the air as they walked , he could pick up scents of prey - but thankfully not anything else. The black tom flicked his tail slowly. The soft conversations of his clan-mates kept him focused as he tuned them out with the noises of the forest. He wasn't one to eavesdrop , besides he could care less. Hearing LightningStar mention foxes previously in the area, he nodded "Understood" he confirmed before turning his attention back to the large forest. He could hear the apprentices speaking and he shook his head in displeasure. But, he kept his mouth shut, he would speak with StormPaw when they returned about comments like that - especially after the leader had been the one to ask them to keep an eye out.

Holding back a childish snicker as he overheard the apprentices talking, Rowanflame glanced around him. The foxes were long gone, and the patrol would be uneventful, as he'd mentioned to Coalstep. But at least, he thought, it was a nice day.
Though the wind was brisk, the morning sunlight seeping through gaps in the forest canopy was enough to warm Rowanflame's dark pelt, and she trotted along near the head of the patrol, behind Lightningstar and his apprentice, inspecting the trees and undergrowth they passed eagerly.
"How are you, Lightningstar? How has Hawpaw's training been?" He meowed quietly to the two cats ahead of him, still looking off into the distance. "It feels almost nostalgic to be back on patrol with you."

Maplefall sighed softly to herself, before getting up and grabbing something from the fresh kill pile. She sat off by herself in a shaded corner, not wanting to be in the way or bother anyone.

Through her sleepy haze Pixie thought she heard a soft voice say something, then her eyes flew open as she felt something nudge her. She sprang to her paws bushing out her fur as much as she could while laying her ears flat on her head and hissing. She arched her back and backed up until she hit the solid part of the log behind her, her eyes were wide with terror. Standing before her was a cat who looked huge from her perspective. 'I don't know how to get away!' She thought frantically, her mind raced to think what she would do when she encountered other cats and dogs when out with her housefolk, but all she could think of was them picking her up and cuddling her close, or putting her safely in her backpack. 'Momo was right' she thought, her friend's words coming back to her. 'He always said that I can only trust the cats my housefolk introduce me to, the rest would want to hurt me. And now look at where I am! I was stupid enough to get lost!'

She looked at the younger warrior for a long time, trying to figure out if he had something on his mind or if he just wanted her gone "yes that's my plan for the start..." she meowed silently, like trying to look for words. She looked around "As Foxpaw is busy helping the medicine cat I could go to see if the fresh-kill pile needs any fulfilling" she meowed "see you later Sootfur..." she meowed to him.

She picked some herbs too and carried them to the pile they were needed to bring. She lightly rolled her eyes at the tom words and listened to the rest he needed to say "all free to drool on them, but I would warn you that their taste on your mouth will be even worse than what they're now" she meowed to her with a laugh. She took a mouthful of bad herbs and followed the orange tabby tom to the dirt place. After dropping the herbs she took a quick lick to her chest before looking back at the tom "Yeah me too, eating fresh prey in the mornings is one of the best moments of the whole day" she meowed to him, starting to move toward the fresh-kill pile. She smiled at the toms bouncing for a moment, her tail flicking as she walked, thinking if they were supposed to ask someone grown up to accompany them, she was four moons older than an apprentice and Foxpaw was an apprentice "do you think your mentor could be available to join us? I think my mentor didn't want us to go together out there" she meowed.

She gave a look at Snowpaw as they walked toward the elder's den "I do feel the same with my mentor sometimes, I feel like I am bothering her to live her own life...but I guess that's not a thing as even now she left the camp without me..." she meowed to her. She slowly blinked her eyes as she entered the den, her eyes looked over at Falconstream there before facing the elder, noticing the prey she had there 'oh well, she doesn't need prey now, huh...' she thought to herself. She looked at her as she spoke to them "morning Hoenywhisker, Falconstream..." she greeted gently, giving a small smile "you could be always centered by someone...aren't you like the most respected member of the whole clan?" she meowed to the elder. Though she was not so happy about her having one or two ticks on her fur.

He moved quickly as he left the camp without nobody noticing anything, or so he hoped as nobody was not yet stopped him. He didn't know why he needed to act this way now, he was not a small kit anymore, but still, he felt like doing something he may regret later. He sniffed the air a saw the trails the two different patrols were taken, maybe he could follow his mentor's patrol, but there was still one scent that was separated from all else, it belonged to the Blazingash the young warrior of the clan. He decided to go and see what was he up there all alone.

He walked deeper into the forest, flicking his ears over to any sounds he heard. He stopped at the very moment when he saw a little group of finches eating near some trees. He got down and started to stalk the birds, preparing to attack some of them. Slowly he waited for a moment before jumping out of the bush and catching one finch, sadly the rest of the birds fly away.

He walked over to the small brook he saw there, carefully he watched the water to see any movements there, but so far nothing. He slowly started to walk near the brook, to see if there could be any fish anywhere.

She gave a look at the little group of cats around the other queen Pineblossom, standing up she started to make her leave out as all of her kits seemed to be up as well. She knew that they wanted to get out and the tensions inside the nursery were not good at the moment. She looked at her kits "now then kits, let's give them some peace to talk" she meowed starting to lead her litter out of the nursery, almost bumping into the handsome warrior "...Oh Shadowclaw...thank you...we're just going out" she meowed to the dark tom as she passed him to get outside of the nursery. She sat down there still listening to the warrior "If you want to teach them, I don't mind that could give them something to do too" she meowed.

She perked her ears to listen to what the medicine cat was talking with the Pineblossom, hearing the little angry hiss at the queen for some reason, which made her wonder if something was going wrong with her. She looked over to her sister Sunrisekit, who also seemed to woke up "you're late" she meowed to her, before looking at her mother "yay, it was about a time to get out" she purred flicking her tail as she walked behind her mother before they were called by the warrior "shrew? is the clan low of prey this morning?" she meowed thoguthfully.

She flicked her ears as the upcoming conversations started to disturb her dreams, opening her eyes she looked over to the little group of cats there before turning to her mother. Yawning she stood up and shook her multicolored fur, giving a quick annoyed glare to her sister's comment "what's wrong to sleep late?" she meowed looking up to her mother "yes mother..." she meowed looking over to Shadowclaw as she walked out of the nursery.

He stayed silent behind his mother, still unsure about the medicine cat there, and thought it was pretty clear that he was not there for them. He looked to his mother and sister as they started to move out of the nursery, his ears perking at the voice of Shadowclaw, noticing the shrew and a little bit of excitement growing on him when he geared that the warrior could want to teach them "cool, crouch and a pounce, that sounds fun" he meowed as he got out of the nursery.

Shadowclaw shifted back and pressed himself into the side of the entrance to the nursery as Risingshine exited with the kits following. He followed them to a small distance from the nursery, then set the shrew down. He stiffled a mrrrrow as he listened to Sunshinekit's serious tone as she mentioned the shrew. "Yes, the pile is very low, but there are hunting patrols out so that will soon be remedied. And as this shrew is very stale, it will make good hunting practice without wasting good prey." He then glanced at Waterfallkit, "I'm glad it sounds fun. It is an essential skill to learn, and when it's fun, it's often easier to learn." Shadowclaw glanced around the camp then settled on a bare patch of earth by the apprentices' den. He waved his tail towards it "Let's go over there to practice. It is quiet and out of the way." He picked up the shrew and looked back to make sure the kits were following before he started making his way towards the spot he had chosen.

MoonShadow shook her head in an almost surprise at the energy of the Kit, as it rose to it's paws and bristled it's fur. MoonShadow couldn't really blame the poor thing, the kit looked frightened. And rightfully so, there was a strange cat speaking with her. MoonShadow had to stop herself from smiling as the kit got into a defensive position, If she weren't so concerned for it's well being she may have chuckled at the kit's actions. However, MoonShadow was grateful to see it alive.

Her eyes narrowed, looking cautiously over the small cat in front of her, she couldn't see any visible injuries. However internal ones were always something to be cautious of. She flicked her tail before opening her mouth, praying to StarClan that she would be able to ease the kit.

"I'm sorry if I scared you, my name is MoonShadow" she said softly, taking a step backwards to add space between her and the kit. MoonShadow wasn't sure why, but hoped it would help it see that she wasn't a threat. "I am from RavenClan, we have many other cats here." she said.

indentation A shiver ran down Ray's spine as the stranger spoke, having just caught it before he'd left the area, just barely managing to hear it. Skidding to a stop, the tortie paused and nervously turned back to look. He was unsure of if he should trust this cat, he wanted to desperately, having someone that he could talk to was something he wanted. While he wasn't the most social cat around, it had been a while since he'd spoken to anyone. Even if it was just a greeting. So, maybe he could risk it? If this bites me in the tail, we're having words. He mused, not even sure who the "we" in this situation was. Mentally sighing and carefully padding back to the stranger, the tom just poked his head out of some foliage before he stopped. The ginger tom was looking at his paws, looking all upset. He grimaced, and carefully set the rabbit down before speaking. "Are you sure it's safe, stranger?"

indentation exhaling softly in disappointment as Rainpaw continued to mess about, the ruddy tom turned his attention to the adult members of the patrol, Leopardfang and Mistfur seemed to be staying with the apprentices. Though it seemed that Moonshadow had left the path and was stalking a squirrel. Watching her for a moment, the male watched her make a good clean kill then nodding to himself, turned his gaze away to find himself something else to hunt. Only to almost be startled out of his perch by Moonshadows call. The fur along his spine bristled, as while she didn't would fearful, this was obviously an urgent matter. Darting along a few branches to get to her location a few trees away, the cat made sure to jump to lower branches so the last jump down was soft. Leaping down only a few fox lengths away Oriolegaze, and upon coming closer the scent and sight of a lone kit made itself known. He paused, just a tail length away, and blinked. He honestly adored kits, but he never really knew how to interact with them.
indentation Mentally shaking off his own unease, Oriolegaze made the short trip to his destination next to Moonshadow and crouched down to the young kit's level. "We mean you no harm little one, we only wish to make sure you're all right." he rumbled softly, "I'm Oriolegaze, also of Ravenclan. May we know your name?" The deputy quired, keeping his gaze soft on the colorpoint kitten.

indentationSo many things were happening at once, and Hawkpaw did his best to keep up. He tensed at the mention of foxes, tail lashing in a show of nerves, before relaxing some as Stormpaw refuted that claim. Sighing internally, the tabby turned his gaze back to Stormpaw. Blinking at the mention of Thunderstrike, the clan's previous deputy and Stormpaws father, before pressing against her for a heartbeat, in an attempt to comfort her. The toms death may have been three moons ago, but it was probably still fresh for her. Having never lost a family member or anyone he was particularly close to, Hawkpaw wasn't sure how long it took to mourn someone. Was there even a time limit to that? He wondered as his gaze left Stormpaw for a heartbeat only to return moments later.

indentation Her heart raced as Molesprout remained silent, as her panic began to overwhelm. In the back of her mind, she recognized the soft purr in her ear as Willowbreeze, - an attempt to comfort her, maybe? Vaguely she recognized the voices of Risingshine, and Phantomcry, but didn't really understand what either cat was saying. Or were they asking something? She didn't know. Blood rushed in her ears, and all she could hear was the rapid beat of her heart in her ears as her world began to spin panic bubbled up. Then, suddenly the shadows retreated and everything was clear. The panic rippled, twisted and a wave of new vicious anger took its place. Face contorting into a sneer, and shoving herself swiftly back a good tail length back, she gave the medicine cat her full attention ignoring Risingshine and Phantomcry to narrow in on a better target. One paw slammed down in the space between them claws unsheathed as she hissed out a warning. "If you don't tell me what's wrong in the next seventeen heartbeats Molesprout, I swear on Lynxstrike's spirit that I'll make you regret ever being born."
