“Ok, this should be good for today” VolcanoStar calls out, looking at his new companions. He had recently ran into a pair of siblings who had agreed to join, one of whom had volunteered to help lead as his second in command.
“Oh good, I’m starving!” PumiceHeart complains light heartedly, moving to stand next to his sister.
VolcanoStar opens his mouth to say something before feeling something run into his side. Looking to his right he spots the bright pelt of FieryKit.
“Badger-back ride!” FieryKit demands, grinning up at him. VolcanoStar chuckles and crouches down to let her climb up. “Don’t forget to say please next time” he says fondly as the four make their way out of the tunnel. They had been working on making a camp within the tunnel systems, though for the time being they slept under a bush nearby the entrance.
That night the clan shared prey before heading to their nests. GraniteSplash and PumiceHeart both having nests right next to each other, while Volcanostar shared his with his daughter. He had only known the kit for a short amount of time, but already he was fiercely protective of the kit, he would do anything to make her happy.
As he settles down for the night, he takes a moment to look around, smiling happily. His clan was beginning, he already felt like he had a place, a true place for himself. That night he went to sleep happier than he had in a long, long time.

lilac broken mackerel tabby with orange eyes, colored by simonpet on lines

be revealed once they give birth.

ixxx▬it was sunhigh by the time most of the cats who'd attended the gathering dragged themselves from their nests on travel-weary paws. baldstar was splayed out beneath the totem, lounging against the painted wooden surface as he drew his tongue over sweetdrop's head, a purr rumbling deep in his belly.
ixxx▬tucked beneath sweetdrop's foreleg, back against her belly, vixenface rested. the dynamic was strange, but somehow it worked. vixenface had no interest in baldstar, nor he in her; they were sociable enough to one another, but romance was never in their book (although vixenface, too, was not a molly who would be settled with just one mate). sweetdrop held a spot in her heart for both of them, hence their sandwiched lounging position with sweetdrop in the middle. baldstar was thoroughly aware of sweetdrop's interest in other cats, and he didn't mind one bit. who was he to tell a cat with a heart as big as sweetdrop's to not love to their fullest?
ixxx▬a mrrow interrupted their comfort, though; viperfang and ficusfrown, both who'd been on a patrol, both with a strange cat in tow. viperfang had been the one to greet the clan's leader. beside him was a tortoiseshell molly with a narrow, pointed face and big ears. her coat was short, and she shivered in the wind that cut through the camp clearing. viperfang's flank was pressed against hers, whether out of affection or out of sharing body heat, baldstar wasn't sure. "hello," baldstar greeted the molly, dipping his head towards her politely. "i am baldstar; welcome to totemclan's camp."
ixxx▬the oriental molly did not return his gesture of respect; her head stayed firmly raised, chin jutting out and jaw clenched as if bracing for baldstar to tell her to leave. "i'm lilith," she spoke, her voice sharper than he'd expected, sounding like the crunch of leaves underpaw in leaf-fall. "and that - " she jutted her tail towards ficusfrown's companion, a spotted tom-cat with a long coat and a white underbelly. " - is lima."
ixxx▬"you know eachother?" viperfang asked in surprise; he and ficusfrown had been in completely different parts of totemclan's territory. for these cats to have traveled so far - and totemclan was far - from the same place, traveling separatly, arriving at the same destination... it was a shocking coincidence.
ixxx▬lilith nodded; "we come from the same place, though we seem to have taken very different routes." her whiskers twitched with amusement as she gazed at lima who was dripping with seawater. (but he clutched a fish in his maw, so he clearly hadn't taken a lesser path than she.)
ixxx▬lima dropped his fish at his paws to speak. "hello, baldstar," he greeting with a low dip of his head, entirely opposite of lilith's demeanor already. "it would be an honor if you were to accept me into your clan. i have heard murmurs from cats who were at last moon's gathering about your clan."
ixxx▬baldstar blinked with surprise at this, pride swelling in his chest. other cats had mentioned the clan he'd founded! he cleared his throat, stifling a smile. "of course," he replied, unable to suppress the purr that rumbled in his voice. "you seem a good fisher," he remarked good-naturedly, and lima blinked graciously at the praise. "and you?" he turned back to the molly. "do you wish to join totemclan?"
ixxx▬lilith nodded her assent with a curt, short jerk of her chin. "very well," baldstar turned and sprang upwards, onto the totem. his forepaws clutched the wood with unsheathed claws, and his powerful forelegs propelled him up swiftly, the footholds of the raven figures' beak and wings making the climb easier near the top. "may all cats of totemclan who have left the nursery gather beneath the totem," he called, his voice carried through the camp clearly from his perch atop the eagle figure.
ixxx▬not many of the clan were still in their dens; in fact, they were all outside already, appearing when they'd scented new cat smell. even the kits were tumbling out of the nursery with excitement even before baldstar called for the clan. he had really just wanted to get to say the line.
ixxx▬"today we welcome two new warriors to totemclan; lilith and lima, do you both swear to uphold the warrior code and stay loyal to totemclan?" a pause as both of the cats below nodded. "then, by the power of the ancestors, i grant you both your new names. lilith, from this moment forward, you will be known as winesnap. i trust that you will prove a fierce warrior for totemclan."
ixxx▬"winesnap!" viperfang was the first to call her name, and was still pressed against her. she scowled at him as he licked her cheek, looking half as if she were about to claw his pelt off, but collected herself quickly in front of her new clanmates.
ixxx▬"and lima," baldstar continued from his perch. "from this moment onward, you will be known as sealfisher. i have great faith that you will provide much for totemclan." the words were odd, but they rolled off of the leader's tongue with ease. as he said sealfisher's new name, the sun peeked it's face from behind a thick grey cloud likely promising more snowfall. the warmth of the sun washed over baldstar as he gazed at the tomcat below.
ixxx▬sealfisher dipped his head with gratitude, the sun once again covered. "sealfisher!" the clan cats called.

ixxx▬the patrol was silent as they sat near the totem. ficusfrown gazed at the sky, viperfang sheathed and unsheathed his claws into the ground beneath him, and sealfisher watched the totemspeaker's den with pricked ears.
ixxx▬baldstar emerged from his den under the sitka tree, his fur a beacon in the dimness of dawn. as he approached, he flicked his tail, signaling for the cats to follow without a word.
ixxx▬and with that, they were on there way to where cinderberry had scented the predator. this was totemclan's first obstacle - nervousness pooled in baldstar's belly, but the thuds of sprinting paws beside him eased his anxieties.
