--ShiningClan is attacked by rogues, their camp taken over, their cats captured or killed. Clovershade had been watching the disaster unfold from afar, just returning from a walk to clear their mind before they would be cooped up as they wait for their kits to arrive. They overhear the rogues asking if there were any others, making swift and alarmed eye contact with Chivewhisker from the other side of the territory. As quickly as they saw them, they were gone, sprinting away from the rogues. Clovershade overhears Sorrelstar indignantly tell the rogues there were no other clan cats, that she was the last one. With a sinking feeling, Clovershade knows there isn't anything they can do but run, hoping Chivewhisker is able to make a safe escape as well. They watch from afar as the cats who didn't fight back are taken by the rogues, hoping to be able to find someone to help rescue their clanmates.
--Back in the swamps, the attacks are getting more frequent. A patrol rescues Clovershade, fresh from the loss of many cats this moon, and as they describe their old clan Cascadefreckle immediately calls a meeting with the two leaders and Scorchlight. Again, Clovershade tells of the camp they left, of the rogue attack on their clan. An idea, a place to go, even if it won't be without battle... at least it will be a place that ChaosClan could safely fit into.
--Grizzlybear's celebration is cut short as he sprints out into the swamps alongside Charstar and the rest of the patrol to find his brother. It was too late to save him, and Grizzlybear watched numbly as Charstar gravely gave him his warrior name, even if he couldn't make it back to camp. Screechowl had passed, and the clan had gained another warrior, at least for a moment. Grizzlybear demands that Charstar and Mockingbirdstar come up with a plan to leave these swamps, stating that if they don't, he'll take the clan himself. Others on the patrol that found Screechowl murmur an agreement, shifting on their feet as they uneasily look out into the swamps. This isn't a home anymore... With some reluctance, but under the knowledge that staying would mean more needless bloodshed, Charstar and Mockingbirdstar begin to prepare the clan for their journey.
--While delighted they can finally get out of the forsaken swamps, Scorchlight is freaking out about how to make sure the two expecting queens and the newborn kits in the nursery are going to remain safe. She demands that the clan take the travels slow, ensuring that every piece of prey in their storage and every herb is preserved with care. They will not rush. They will not push any cat past their limit. No ones goes ahead, no one is left behind. A detailed plan begins to make it's way into the clan, and the camp is preparing to leave.

Wolf could still hear the howling of the hound dogs, he was running as if they were nipping at his heels. His heart was racing with a mix of fear and urgency. He soon came to a cliffside, the sound of a waterfall and river raging beside him. He looked up, debating on if he could climb that height. However, as the growls grew louder, Wolf no longer cared if he was capable or not. He dug his claws into the hard soil of the cliff, using the few rocks jutting out as leverage for his weight. He didn't dare to glance down, knowing he'd only see the frightening distance he was making between him and solid ground. His muscles were tense, pulling himself up with every bit of strength he had.

Yet, no amount of strength would get him up this cliff, it was a challenge that was too steep for any cat. He felt the grip that he had on the rockside slipping. His hind legs gave way, crashing his jaws into the rocks and the only sensation after he felt was falling. The wind pushed through is pelt, soon plunging into the cold river and there was only a black void in front of him after...

...

Wolf awoke in what looked like... the bottom of a lake? It all felt like a dream, or perhaps he had passed into the afterlife. He could still feel the cold sensation of the river, but this time it didn't bother him. He looked around and spotted a blue cat almost half his size and padded towards them. Once he got near enough, he noticed that he could see right through them. Skeptical, he called out.

"Hello? Where are we...? Who are you?" Wolf questioned, his tone more demanding for answers.

A low tone came out of the cat, a relaxing flow. "We are in my domain, Wolf. Nevermind who I am, I'm more curious on why you are here. It's too early." They raised a brow, grooming themself as if actually uninterested.

Confused, Wolf started to get angry. "How do you know me?"

"I've had my eye on you- Wolf, the tom that only cares for himself, he can do everything by himself. Yet, that isn't true? You could of never survived a fall from that cliff by yourself, could you dear Wolf?" The faded blue cat questioned, their attitude a bit accusing. The black tom was dumbstruck by what this cat was telling him, how could he know any of it? However, the blue cat continued. "No. You couldn't of done it all on your own, that's why I intervened the only way I know how. I'm going to grant you a gift, boy. The gift of life. You know of the clans, don't you?" They questioned, this time waiting for an answer.

"I've only heard they're all shams, just cats worshipping ghost that were never there." Wolf huffed, yet started to feel that his assumptions are going to be proven wrong.

This time the blue cat grinned, looking a bit menacing. "Ah, yes. Well, this sham is going to save you. You're about to be one of the leaders who receive nine lives. You may not know it, but you just lost one of those precious lives after you fell off the cliff and into my river."

Wolf looked at the cat in disbelief, still skeptical if he was dreaming. "What do you gain from me living? Do you wish me to serve your every will?"

"Something quite like that, actually. I wish for you to use my valley, my lake, my land. I wish only for cats to be able to live here and love the valley that I cherish. This land is very special to me, Wolf. With these eight extra lives, I want you to live them all to the fullest by helping others be happy in this valley. You don't have to be a saint, you don't have to be perfect. I just want those who are worthy of this valley to reap the benefits." They paused for a moment, almost looking through Wolf to someone else. "I have been in your destiny for quite some time now. There is no changing that. If you choose to accept these lives, my valley will bring you blessings." The spirit's flowing tone started to fade away, their body leaving as well.

Wolf could feel himself being pulled quickly to the surface of the lake, desperately swimming for the shore. Once he felt his pelt sink into the thick sand of the lake shore, he took deep breaths and passed into a deep sleep...

...

As Wolf started to awake slowly, he thought of the water-dwelling cat at the bottom of the lake. 'Was it all a crazy dream?' He thought absentmindedly, yet as he looked at his surroundings he knew that it couldn't of been. After he fell from the cliff, there was no way he could of made to the side of the lake above. He thought back on his life, thinking of all the times he denied those around him in order to better himself.

Wolf stood up, looking to the lake and to someone who wasn't physically there. "Hey you! I still don't understand who you are, but I accept your challenge! I'll be those clan, I'll care for others, I'll make an effort! I'll gather a proper clan and get even with you for saving me!" He shouted to the waters, intending for the blue cat to perhaps hear. The stubborn tom turned away from the lake, hoping to explore his new blessed territory and perhaps new clanmates. "I'm Wolfstar from now on. This lake is now my responsibility in the form of Lakeclan." He added as a last remark to the deity.

snow lies in massive drifts over the territories. even the warmest areas feel the effects,
from frost killing vulnerable plants, to causing coughs to those who have experience too
much exposure. as prey and herbs have become scarce, there will also be fewer strangers
looking to explore the vast clan territories. queens may have a harder time kitting, so
medicine cats will need to be well-stocked and prepared for the following moons.

Wolfstar trotted through the forest in search of more cats to help him in his new quest. As he pushed past much of the underbrush of the pine forest, he picked up the scent of a squirrel. He crept his body low, looking around for the prey. As he caught sight of the bushy tail, he started to inch himself closer and closer until he was within range to pounce.

Just as Wolfstar had the squirrel right in his grasp, a blurry ball of grey came tumbling into him, cracking right into his skull. The large tom was taken aback, having to take a second to regain his balance.

"What's the big idea! Everyone should know by now, this is Pebble's place!" The grey blur spoke up.

As Wolfstar focused his eyes, he saw before him a smaller gray tom with the beginnings of a cocky grin. "I would assume you're Pebble then?" He replied, holding back a smile.

"Is that supposed to mean something?" He raised an eyebrow, but then shook off the teasing as if it meant nothing. "Nevermind that, I meant what I said! This is my den, big boy!"

Wolfstar puffed out his chest, almost scoffing. "I'm not too sure about that, I'm making this valley my territory." He started, but could almost feel the blue spirit's nagging at the attitude. 'It's almost like he's always around... I'm going crazy!' He thought, shaking his head. "You're free to join me, however, hunting for meals is easier with help." He added, trying to come off as friendlier.

Pebble gave the other tom a questioning look. "You're one of those clans, aren't you?"

"Yes, yes! Lakeclan, this valley is going to be great." He stated proudly.

Pebble seemed to be caught up in his own thoughts for a moment. However, it wasn't long before he chirped up. "Alright, I'll join you and do you a favor, I know a good place to start this Lakeclan." The grey tom beckoned Wolfstar with his tail, happily trotting through the thick forest with the confidence of knowing exactly where he's headed. The two crossed a very small stream and came upon a short rock cliff.

Wolfstar looked up to the ledge, only being no more than three fox lengths up. He knew he easily would be able to climb up the side, but he felt a flash of how he had fallen into the waterfall, the feinting pain of falling. He felt frozen in place at the thought of another climb, no matter how short.

"Are you coming or not, pal?" Pebble called to him, looking down to him from atop the rock.

Wolfstar looked to his new possible clanmate, being pulled from this frightening thoughts. "I didn't know we were pals now." He teased, hiding any fear he was feeling. He sucked in a breath, getting himself up beside Pebble. As he looked around on top, the area was covered in some underbrush and forest debris. However, looking past the negatives, he saw a lot of potential for a developing clan. He looked towards a hollowed log, seeing ideas for a medicine cat den. With a few bramble dens, there was enough room for warriors, apprentices, and maybe one day expecting queens. Best of all, when he looked towards the back along the bigger cliffside, there was a rock with a small den covered with some lichen.

"This definitely looks like home, huh?" Pebble pushed, shoving the black tom a little with his shoulder.

Wolfstar could feel a genuine smile coming across his face. "It really does..." He trailed off as he took in the scenery around him, taking every detail to memory as the day he finally started Lakeclan. "You're welcome to join me as my first Warrior. There will always be duties to attend to, but you'll never be alone in your survival in this world." He looked towards Pebble expectantly, starting to warm up to the fellow tom.

Pebble glanced towards Wolfstar, but then kept his eyes back on the camp around him. "You know, I've been needing something new and you seem like a dependable cat. I'll trust in Lakeclan and see where this goes." He admitted, a grin on his face as he looked back towards the other.

"As per clan traditions, you'll be a new warrior for Lakeclan. From now on, you'll be known as Pebblebounce here and I hope you can make this clan great with me." Wolfstar stated, more speaking towards the deity he knew was real in his heart than to Pebblebounce.

The new cat is called Junebug by the clan, since she doesn’t speak and won’t introduce herself. She seems content with the name and reacts to it with a silent smile.

Songbird starts going mad. He threatens to burn down their old campsite, speaking ill things about gentleman, who, in his opinion, is unworthy of being leader. Gentleman breaks all the rules that Songbird set up with the intention of doing what’s best for the clan. Bacup tries to steer him back into sanity, but to no avail. When the young tom goes to the Sylph’s den to seek help from his best friend, Songbird sets his plan into action. Before anyone can react, the sky is basket in red flames and grey smoke. Fire spreads rapidly over dry fallen leaves and naked branches of trees. Some cats are caught in the middle of it, others rush in to try and help them escape.

Seashell, Runningtalon, Brookripple and Crowberry are consumed by the flames that quickly spread throughout the forest.

Once the flames settle down the clan scouts through the ashes and soot. Songbird is nowhere to be found - dead or alive, but noone believes he could have made it out unharmed. After all, he was right in the epicentre of the inferno.

Gentleman, Shark and Bacup sustain minor injuries, their furs are slightly singed and ashened. Inhaling the smoke causes nearly all the cats in the clan to cough for at least a few hours after the fire dies down, but almost noone receives any major injuries except for Woodpaw. While escaping his path gets blocked and he fails to avoid a falling branch, which lands on him with a heavy impact. He’s quickly helped by his sisters, but will need Amber’s aid to recover.

“…and when he heard about what Gentleman did, it’s like something snapped inside him.” Bacup held his head low as he recalled the events to Sweetbee. “I can’t believe he did it. I can’t believe he’s gone…” A single tear rolled down his cheek as his voice trailed off. Bee lay his head on Bacup’s scruff and sobbed quietly.

The sole Sylph of the clan is exhausted by moons of helping maids deliver kittens, taking care of the rapidly growing number of injured clanmates, training an apprentice and helping her mate with their litter. She never wished for this sort of life.

After everything that happened the last two moons, Northstar has her paws full. Deaths, injuries, traitorous behaviour and stress over the near future. All of it is too much for one cat to handle. The clan has a gathering where North announces Whetley as her new deputy. The molly has reached the correct age and her time has come. In the first moment Whetley’s slightly disappointed that all of her Sylph training will go to waste, but her goal always was to help the clan in any way she can. If Northstar thinks that she will be most useful as an Heir then so be it. Whetley accepts her new position with a smile. A couple of cats cheer for her, but moods are still mostly sour.
