elsje's life began much the same as the way it is now: on the streets. though it wa
s an unwelcoming environment to grow in, elsje had the protection of her mother,
& under her experienced care, she survived and thrived until she got lost one nigh
t in the confusion of a severe thunderstorm, unable to find her way in the heavy r
ain and wind. after this, elsje flew solo for some time, but inevitably slipped & w
as caught and taken to the local shelter, where she was later adopted. adjusting t
o life as a pet felt strange to elsje, but the love and attention from her owner wa
sn't entirely unpleasant - at least, she thought so until she was left behind in the c
ity when the war came, & then it was back to the streets for her.

molded by her rough and tumble origins, elsje is a bit of a lo
ne wolf in the sense that she thinks she is fine on her own, a
nd she lacks that fraternal instinct to work with & put her fa
ith in others; if she thinks she can get away with it, you can
bet she's going to try doing things on her own without anyon
e's help. stubborn and feisty, elsje tends not to put too much
weight on how her actions & words can hurt others, because
she's going to speak her mind regardless, although really her
bark is worse than her bite. in fact, she's actually quite the c
oward - very much a risk vs. rewards thinker, if she thinks ru
nning away is better for her, she'll do it in a heartbeat.

✫ ─── elsje is the name her mother gave to her as a pup. after being
adopted, her owner called her bradamante instead, though it's not a n
ame that elsje uses or responds to anymore.
✫ ─── generally afraid and untrusting of other dogs. as a stray, other
dogs either ignored her or were competition for food and territory. sh
e never learned how to properly socialize, even when she was a pet.
✫ ─── that said, she clings to those she knows and trusts like a lifeli
ne, just as she did her mother and siblings, and will defend them fier
cely... ok, but maybe not in a fight tho.
✫ ─── vv much aware of her own strengths. she's never liked fightin
g which is why she is so quick to run away in confrontation.
✫ ─── learned how to take care of herself and her injuries during h
er time on the streets bc, yk, there's no veterinarian for strays :'), he
