ixxx▬"you think you know everything," a unseen tom snarled, his voice raised in annoyance. sweetdrop paused, a paw held above the snow, cocking her head to listen.
ixxx▬"i don't know everything," a soft voice this time, airy and light, a molly's. "but i am certainly the smartest in our company at the moment."
ixxx▬the tom was opening his mouth for a breath to retort when sweetdrop bounded the last few tail-lengths to the duo. they were tucked inside a hollowed out log, the tom the first to be seen by the clan cat. he obscured his companion from view with his size; even with the substantial amount of tabby fur he had, as he snapped to face her she saw the muscles in his shoulders ripple, saw the strength that this stranger boasted. the same stranger who was looking at her as if she were an enemy.
ixxx▬which, she supposed, she was, in his eyes, but she wanted to dispatch that idea quickly.
ixxx▬"hello," she purred, whiskers twitching nonchalantly as she sat just outside of the log, curling her tail neatly over her paws. "are you lost?"
ixxx▬the tom eyes were still narrowed but he began to look less prickly, his fur lying flat along the ridge of his back. "no," he scoffed, rolling his eyes.
ixxx▬"yes," his hidden companion retorted, hissing. "very lost, and very cold," she added. sweetdrop heard paws against wood inside of the log, and then the molly emerged from the other end of the shelter, leaping atop the log and padding until she was perched just above sweetdrop, crouching and peering at her with olivine eyes that reminded sweetdrop of newly sprouted grass on the moor.
ixxx▬she was vulpine in appearance, her coat freshly groomed, the white blaze of her chest almost as reflective as the snow. "oh, my," sweetdrop breathed, tipping her chin up, completely disregarding the big tomcat who looked hurt at this sudden disinterest.
ixxx▬"i'm vixenface. and you're beautiful, but i'd like to know your name, too," vixenface purred, her whiskers twitching coyly. the tom scoffed, brushing past sweetdrop as he exited the log.
ixxx▬"sweetdrop is my name," the molly in question seemed startled by how brazen this new molly was, but she certainly wasn't complaining. "and thank you kindly. you are exquisite."
ixxx▬and sweetdrop meant it with every bone in her body. she had shared many, many nests with other cats, but this molly was certainly one of the most beautiful cats she'd ever seen.
ixxx▬"and i - yep, remember me? - yeah, i'm viperfang." the tom puffed his chest out, ruffling his fur to look larger than he already was. vixenface giggled, and it sounded like shooting stars, sweetdrop thought.
ixxx▬"viperfang!?" vixenface was overcome with a fit of laughter, stifling herself just to add: "okay, hollybounce!"
ixxx▬he hissed, though his fur deflated slightly. "i'm viperfang now!" he insisted, and softer, under his breath so only sweetdrop could hear; "i wanted something tougher, ya know?"
ixxx▬sweetdrop's whiskers twitched with amusement but she dipped her head in acknowledgement. "alright, viperfang," she rose to her paws, her tail swishing to knock the snow it had collected away. "now, let's get you out of the cold."

aaINTRODUCTION

gladeclan is, by all means, rather ordinary. as traditional as they come, the clan believes in starclan and is regularly ignored by its starry ancestors. it practices a standard clan hierarchy and does not have any sort of distinguishing skill to set it apart from other clans. in fact, the only area in which gladeclan may deviate from the norm is apprenticeship. the clan believes every apprentice must learn at least the basics in every skillset applicable to a clan cat's life. warrior and medicine cat apprentices alike will study briefly under a second mentor of the opposite specialty, ensuring they explore everything from the best way for catching quail to the most accessible cure for kittencough. that aside, the only strange thing about gladeclan seems to be its origin. because one day, it was, and then suddenly, it wasn't. until now, that is.

aaTERRITORY

as their name suggests, gladeclan makes its home in a small clearing at the bottom of a wooded mountain valley. they are surrounded in every direction by tall oaks, maple groves, and rocky terrain. base camp is right in the center of the glade, where fallen leaves keep the ground soft underfoot and a thin river spills out from a small waterfall. dens are formed from abandoned fox dens, widened and reinforced with large rocks to deter predators from entry. the leader has their own, smaller fox den. the medicine cat's den specifically is in a nook behind the waterfall, where the cool temperatures and moist earth encourage herb growth. much farther off is a thunderpath that cuts through the mountain and winds its way down to the human village on the other side. gladeclan shares their mountain valley with several other carnivorous species, including black bears, foxes, and venomous snakes. the clan steers clear of known predator territory to minimize conflict, but may have to cross though it in order to reach their moon stone: an exceptionally shiny hunk of stone about halfway up the mountain.

aaCATS OF THE CLAN

once compared to a shoal of minnows, cats of gladeclan do not possess any unusual or eye-catching features to distinguish them from their clanmates. most are shorthaired, appropriate for a slight chill in winter and a blessing in the blistering heat of summer, and plain in color. looking into their camp would reveal a healthy mix of tabbies, tortoiseshells, torbies, and black, grey, or ginger cats. a fully-white coat of fur is exceptionally rare and would severely limit a cat's ability to blend in with the valley's surroundings. in short, they are common as they come. the character of these cats is somewhat of a different story. outsiders know little about them or their lifestyle, but they have garnered a reputation as humble recluses; the main footpath through the mountains, just on the outskirts of their territory, is always clear of debris and marked with a mysteriously fresh cat-scent to keep away predators. cats inside gladeclan tend to be solemn and steadfast in nature. their religious adherence to the warrior code makes them diligent workers, and they are always distant, but polite, with any visitor that comes their way. only those who immerse themselves in gladeclan's fold will truly get to know the cats behind the polished exterior, and where, exactly, they came from.

i am disbanding driftclan and replacing it with gladeclan! three of its cats will be kept and placed into one of my clans, while the rest will be readopted out at a later date. oh, and to my mod: hi!! :)

after his last fishing attempt, goldendawn and lichenstar had gone down to the boardwalks for a more formal lesson on one of the wetland’s islands, they had worked together to capture a fish, and goldendawn finally had something to show for all his hard work!

what he was less proud of was almost slipping off the boardwalk afterwards. fish could be heavy, alright? even worse, scrabbling at the wood must have wedged something into one of his hind paws, because he had needed to limp all the way back to camp.

“looks like a splinter.” lichenstar had assessed after a quick glance at his foot. “lucky for you, we’ve got a cat for that sort of thing now!” goldendawn found himself flustered at the unbidden memory, and he paused to gather himself before peeking into the healer’s den.

goldendawn hadn’t been able to introduce himself to bulrushclan’s newest arrivals. he knew the large, walking raincloud of a cat curled up inside was their new healer, but beyond that, he didn’t know anything about him. honestly, he wasn’t even sure he could remember his name. inwardly, goldendawn cursed his one-track mind.

“hello?” he mewed hesitantly, to no response. when he repeated himself a little louder, the dappled grey tom inside jolted, mismatched eyes opening to blink owlishly at him.

“oh dear, i was just taking a nap, one moment-” he broke into a yawn as he moved over to the other tom. “i got tired sorting out the herbs, but at least that means everything should be ready now. what do you need?”

goldendawn turned to let the healer examine his injury. he awkwardly stared down at the floor, trying to ignore how the grey tom’s examining sniffs tickled his paw pads. “i, uh, slipped on one of those wooden paths… lichenstar said i got a splinter?”

“she was right with that. pretty big one, too.” goldendawn felt a paw come up to steady his raised leg, and he glanced back at the healer, who seemed concentrated as he told him, “hold tight, this might hurt a wee bit.”

a sharp sting made him hiss as the healer tugged it out with his teeth. he smiled at goldendawn sympathetically, which made his pelt warm. “sorry about that.”

“it’s fine,” goldendawn assured him, sending the healer his own sheepish grin. the dull ache was already subsiding, so he started to put his foot down, but it was quickly nudged back up.

“not yet. i should dress and clean it first.” the grey tom explained as he trotted off to the back of the den, to search for… whatever it was he needed. as goldendawn held his balancing act and intently watched the other cat root around, he shamefully realized he still hadn’t learned the healer's name.

“hey… this is a little embarrassing, but i’m not sure i ever got your name.” goldendawn prompted with feigned casualness. the healer turned around, pulling a wad of moss out of his muzzle and tucking it into his neckerchief before responding.

“i’m drizzlesong.” he padded back over, and got to work, using the wet moss to clean goldendawn’s paw. “and yours?”

“goldendawn.” he answered. “it used to be harry, but you know, becoming a warrior and all…”

drizzlesong hummed his assent. “i take it you weren’t always a clan cat?”

goldendawn’s brow furrowed. “well, yeah. but i think i’m getting better at being a warrior.” he puffed his chest out. “actually, i caught my first fish today!” after a moment of thought, he deflated. “but i guess i fell right after, so i’m sure how much that's worth...”

the healer was quiet as he pulled out a small swath of cobweb and started wrapping it around his paw. “you want to be a warrior, right?” he piped up.

“of course!” goldendawn immediately responded.

“then don’t let yourself discouraged so easily.” drizzlesong advised, two-toned gaze honed in on his work. “sometimes things don’t come naturally. but, if you really want it, and you really try,” he smiled, letting go of goldendawn’s now treated paw. “you'll get the hang of it eventually.”

he tentatively put his paw down, and was surprised at how much better it felt already. “thank you, drizzlesong.” he chuckled, “for my paw. and the pep talk.”

“that’s what i’m here for.” drizzlesong purred.

Hunting (Bumblewing's patrol); Bumblewing's patrol
catches x3 lizard! Tumblepounce finds himself alone
after chasing a vole, and, stricken with worry for where his
patrol is, was not aware of the hidden fox trap in his path
before he was a victim to it. the patrol found him struggling
in the trap, and while they were able to free him, it seems
Tumblepounce lost his tail to the trap... he will require 3 moons of rest,
x1 goldenrod, x1 stick, and x1 tormentil.

Hunting (Pinefur's patrol); Pinefur's patrol catches
x1 vole and x1 rabbit! Spottedlily becomes a
victim to bad luck while hunting, as the smell of rabbit attracted
a wild dog. The patrol manages to chase it away with minor injuries,
except for Spottedlily. She loses a leg and is blinded in the fight...

x1 ragweed.

attacked by a small dog! It was easily chased away, but Ebonystar

"Things are settling in, aren't they?" Green Tea asked as Blackberry Sugar cleaned him. He was exhausted after the hunting, not used to being so active. Not to mention covered in sap and dirt. His partner affectionately nipped his ear.
"Yeah. I think you couldn't have done anything better here. Even if things are hard," he looks over the heads of napping cats, grooming cats. "I think this is the best we can do."
"Hmhm. We did, not just me..."
"Shhh, it was your idea."
The pair spoke in hushed tones as the sky turned silver. The clouds blocked sunlight, though the world did indeed brighten. It cast a weak shadow, but they were unaware of their shadows being missing entirely. They watched the Hither cats. Mewing under their non-breaths, they slunk away into the bracken surrounding the camp. They had a job to do.

Bumblewing:
Bumblewing entered camp with his third kit in his jaw, at the last gathering he had a fling with with a strange molly, who decided she didn’t want their kits, and now he was bringing them, one by one into BilberryClan. The stares of his clanmates burned his fur, he didn’t know what to tell them. Bumblewing set down the final kit inside the nursery,
the kind queen Lazulisong had already agreed to feed Bumblewing’s litter. His tiny orange son cried as he made contact with the cold floor and squirmed towards Lazulisong, who was nursing her own kits along with Bumblewing’s daughters. Several moments of silence passed, Bumblewing just sat, watching his three kits, all of them resembling their mother.

“Have you come up with any names yet?” Lazulisong asked softly, “I’d like to call the tom Saffronkit, I’m not too sure about the other two though.” He shrugged. Lazulisong smiled briefly “Maybe you should name them all after spices. I named all three of my children after crystals.” Bumblewing liked this idea, and pondered for a while. “Chillikit for the black-footed one, and Paprikakit for the other molly.” He spoke, crouching down to his children’s level.

Lakeclan is centered by a shallow lake surrounded by a dense pine forest. The soil is thick, often having small rocks mixed in. The shallow lake tapers into a waterfall near the edge of the clan territory, which is considered a holy burial ground. In the forest below the waterfall, just outside of Lakeclan's usual territory, there is a hunting cabin twolegs use some years. There are many rivers flowing through the territory that lead into the lake, all giving plenty of fish. Around where the base of the mountain meet and the lake there is the clan's camp. Hollowed logs and bramble bushes are used for dens, the leader's den being a small lichen covered cave.

✦ ᴄʟᴀɴ ʟᴏʀᴇ ✦

Wolfstar, the leader of the clan, decided to settle down in this valley after he was supposedly saved from drowning by Starclan through what he calls a "water deity". The deity is a small blue cat spirit, being able to see through their body. Skeptical or not of Wolfstar's story, a tradition for apprentices to complete their training started, they must be accepted by the water deity after their warrior assessment. In what's called a "Miracle Trial", they must go fishing on a full moon. If they are favored by the deity, they will bring back fish and will receive their warrior name. In that night, if they cannot do so, then they must leave the clan. They will have a final meal with the clan, then be sent off to find their own place outside of the valley with good wishes from their clan. All the cats are a hard believer in fate, so if the trail is failed then it's fated that they are needed outside of the valley as well.
Mod Note: For the Miracle Trail, it would be after they successfully pass their warrior assessment. The next moon, they would take the Miracle Trail. I was wondering if possible to have whoever my mod be roll for the chances of them passing the trail? Possibly an ~80% chance that they pass the trail. The ~20% that would fail would be exiled from the clan.

✦ ᴡɪʟᴅʟɪꜰᴇ ✦

Prey: Fishing there is carp, bass, bluegill, and minnows. Hunting there are mainly squirrels, sometimes there are lizards brought back for a hardy snack.
Predators: Dangerous preadators include badgers, foxes, and sometimes hunting dogs. Hounds would only be found during new leaf and stay near the twolegs down in the forest below the waterfall, they only come hunting for deer every other year or so. Occasionally in Lakeclan territory there are small twoleg traps meant to catch foxes, if caught in one of these traps there's going to be deep wounds with the chance of breaking a leg. Very rarely, there are lynxes high up in the mountains which are avoided. Smaller, bit less dangerous predators would be snakes or beavers.

Mod Note: Last question I swear! Would I be able to use my OC Wolfchaser/star (base by faeryfountain, colored-in by me) as my leader? I would prefer if he could be converted into Create a Clan lineart as well if possible. He's a black smoke maine coon mix.

↪ Applefur | The patrol found a shortcut on the way home that involved leaping across a gap, Applefur, experienced as he was, decided to go last so he could watch in case any of the younger cats had any trouble. He expected nothing less when all of them leapt with the grace of a mountain-born Clan cat, and finally it was his turn to cross. He readied himself in the same jumping position he'd done many times before and bounded across, however his landing didn't go as expected and he tumbled to the other side, Squirrelnose's eyes widening as she heard a bone snap before anyone else did.

The older tom wheezed in pain and managed to stand on his own, but couldn't put his front left leg down and opted to hold it close to his chest, proving the fracture to the rest of the patrol. Squirrelnose moved forward to help him stay upright, but stopped when Strawberrypatch and Acornfall got to him first, worried for their elderly father. The patrol stayed quiet as they headed home, Witheredstalk and Haybriar were striding protectively behind the older warriors as they were Applefur's grandkits, while Squirrelnose and the others hung back, pensive and concerned. No longer were they mystified of an EchoClan before their time, but rather coming to a sad understanding that its older generation was beginning to show their age... After the chaos at camp, Crowcloud confirms the break and confines Applefur to camp, he also starts looking through his stores to find what would be best for healing a broken bone.
