Help! Do you collect every pet?

While it's my personal goal to get every "official" pet... it's really not worth it due to the "special releases" which are pretty much impossible to get from anyone who manages to score one of the OMGSR pets that are released every Dec.

... More explanatory answer:
The idea of trying to collect every pet REALLY stresses me out.
I think trying to accomplish that goal would probably remove a lot of the fun for me.
And hey - it's a game! It's supposed to be fun :)

Instead, I set specific goals, like getting a dreamie, or collecting every Warriorcat (accomplished!) or collecting every sitting cat (working on this now). These smaller goals give me the sense of accomplishment that I'm looking for when I reach them, but they're MUCH less stressful.

I also keep a favorites group of all my dreamies, so I can go back and admire them and just enjoy looking at them.

I've been here since 2011 and have never considered trying to get every pet. Getting a complete collection of rats is hard enough--not to mention, I haven't touched my trades in months... x.x

Instead I like to focus on smaller goals. Hoards are always fun. I'm also trying to get a White February for every odd numbered year (since they can be adopted on Dec. 18th). Stuff like that is more feasible and enjoyable for me personally.

I started wanting to collect every pet, but trading for the high-value pets was a nightmare.
It was not fun, and I didn't even like most of the pets I needed.

So I decided to focus on things than were actually fun, like trading for tons of hoard pets. I have a hoard with 40,000 pets in it!
Now I only collect pets I like and hope to get super lucky with Dec 18th or the Pound to finish off my wishlist.

It's kept the site fun and frustration free.

I collect fennec foxes (if anyone cares to throw me a trade feel free, much appreciated) but I think they and or maybe spiders or fish themed pets are the least amount on the site and easiest to collect. I also try to collect one of each from litters I love overtime so I try every summer event, and staff litter, every general helper litter, I almost have the zodiacs done and like half of the Chinese zodiacs I believe so I pick and choose what full litters to get but it’s usually moreso groups of themed animals I collect to!

Recently decided to attempt to collect all dogs and b-wolves uncommon and under. I might eventually try to collect all rares and under, I think I might be able to do it? Once you start hitting VR territory though I think I'm content just getting a few, and not worrying about omgsrs and some of the older store pets.

My overall goal is to collect every official site pet, which 'could' happen for someone who has been here a long time (late 2010 for me is kind of long? But I missed soooo many 08/09 pets) but when I first started out it was to get all cats (which I had for awhile, then they went and made some Unrelased ones for Dec 18th. lol) then all equine (still working on this one), and am slowly working toward everything else. At the moment, one thing I have accomplished is every single Uncommon pet and under I now own, which is huge in itself! Next bigger goal is all Rares and below. Next semi-big goal is all 2011 pets excluding unreleased pets (I think I am at 9? Mostly store pets XD)
For newer users it is possible probably, but going to take a LOT more work to get there. Lots of time, real money, offsite trading and the like.
As for what I do while I wait to get older pets? I have turned to collecting items now, and working on a bunch of hoards for pets I like. Makes it so I can actually have SOMETHING to grab in the pound/lost and found and not get frustrated when I never find anything good in them, and also helps for events/gift giving holidays, like the User run Lights On/Lights Off for Halloween. Gives the people I ToT to more choices of things to work with.

Overall, I basically say do what makes you happy. If you want to let that Pokemon 'gotta catch em all' hold onto you (like it does me heh) then go for it! If you want only certain pets, or colors, or what have you, go for it. There is no wrong way to collect here on C$!
