Leo stared blankly after Lucas, but it was best to let him go for now, he figured. He turned his attention to Louve, unable to hide his surprise. The conversation hadn’t been quiet, and he’d spoken of her by name. Had she missed the entirety of the conversation happening right in front of her? "Long story short, Lucas is in love with me, didn’t handle rejection well after I confessed being in love with someone who…well, isn’t him," he summarized.

There had been silence from Rain for a while, uncharacteristic of the young she-wolf. Enough to make Fish worry, and Fish was generally a carefree spirit. "We have to wait for Rain to finish eating, then we'll head out and see if we can find anything." Hopefully not, Fish was fine with peace, even if she would fight to the death upon the order of her superiors.

"You guys go for it, I’ll keep an eye near the border in case there’s an enemy wolves or other predators in sight. I’ve got you covered during the hunt," the grey she-wolf promised. Does and fawns? Fawns this early? Interesting, it wasn’t quite the season for it, but certainly useful. The more prey they had, the better.

"Birds are pretty tricky prey since they’re airborne, and hawks are harder than just about anything aside from eagles." An eagle could contend with and often even defeat a full grown wolf in a fight with the beak and those sharp talons. Hawks were smaller, but their talons were still something to be wary of. "Are you sure you want to try?"

Kass chuckled. She did enjoy toying with her Packmates to a degree, but she never tried to be truly unkind about it, which still only led to the conclusion of jealousy, but she didn’t push her luck any further. Three was plenty for a doe, but it was still a bit of a risk if done wrong, so Kass was content to skip that for now. She nodded. "Lead the way."

"When we get back and after we’ve reported back to the Alpha. The more training we have, the better for everyone with the war always right on the brink of breaking loose, it’s been a couple weeks, but we can’t afford to get comfortable just yet," Arian noted. She scanned the border. Fresh scent, but she wasn’t able to tell with the mix of scents if it was on their side, or just close to the border.

Blizzard heard Mick's call and frowned. From what he’d seen, Shadow hadn’t ordered any patrols at the time they had gathered their group. "There wasn’t to my knowledge. What is it? Who do you see? Ours, or Fire?" He called back. His ice blue gaze shifted back to Angel as he spoke again. Flirting, much clearer this time. What was he supposed to make of that, when only moments prior to leaving he’d agreed to start a tentative relationship? "Well…thank you, Angel," he finally responded.

"I'm not sayin' it’s a good idea. I’ve got nothin' against Leo, don’t get me wrong, he’s…certainly somethin', but that somethin' ain’t leader material. He may be the son of an Alpha, but he’s not an Alpha himself. His attitude makes that perfectly clear. The kid's an overgrown pup." Sometimes it was hard to realize Leo was only a little over a year younger than Karter himself, and that said, Karter was hardly the most mature wolf in the Pack himself. The difference really was that Leo didn’t make an effort to act mature and grown up so far. Like he wasn’t ready for his childhood to be over.

Aala was right. Karter had dreamed of being an Alpha once, when he was younger, but he certainly didn’t envy Shadow now, when she’d have to choose a select few wolves over the rest of her Pack. "Yeah…but she’s done good for us," he decided. He was lucky he, Addilyn, Toby, and Valley had been taken in two years ago, he had to thank Shadow for that. "Yeah, good idea," he agreed, dropping his voice to barely more than a whisper.

Storm flicked her ears in acknowledgement to when Aala advised her and Karter to quiet down. While she didn't appreciate being given direct orders like that, she didn't see anything amiss and indeed, the topic of Leads and Betas had been long exhausted. There was only so much speculation they could do before it got dull and it had indeed gotten dull.

She nodded to Aala, indicating that the she-wolf was welcome to take the lead and scout ahead, while Storm padded close to Karter, flanking him. She glanced his way and offered him a confident smile - whatever they might face, she was confident that between herself and Karter, they could handle it. They were Warriors, after all. She glanced forward at Aala.

I'll have to protect her. She thought, keeping pace with the Scout. Are Scouts even trained how to fight?

Angel wasn't entirely certain about how his direct approach would go. How dense was Blizzard, really? He was worried, for a few moments when Blizzard seemed to ignore his remarks altogether, but then he thanked Angel for hi compliment and Angel positively beamed at him.

"Oh, you're perfectly welcome, Blizzard! You know, I always try to speak my mind, I'm not a secretive wolf, anyone can tell you as much. If I see a handsome face, like yours, I'm not shy in telling them. And you, my dearest, are a proper stud if I've ever seen one." He went on. "Now, we may as well get to know one another better while we're out patrolling. No reason we can't mix business with pleasure - if we see a threat, you'll find I'll get very professional very quickly." He added quickly. "Now, Blizzard, why don't you tell me what you're looking for in a partner - it doesn't matter if you have one or not already. Do you have a proper mate? A permanent and decided one? Just wondering. I'm interested if you're not." Angel was speaking a mile a minute and only occasionally stopped to take a deep breath. The positive reception he'd read with the acceptance of his compliment had only further encouraged his flirty behavior. "Anyway, regardless, if you could describe your perfect mate, what would they be like?" He asked, his yellow eyes gazing up at Blizzard as Angel otherwise ignored the other two males in the patrol.

Enui met Archer's gaze, noting how weird he looked as he did so.
I can see the confusion, but I wonder if anything else is going on behind those eyes. She speculated to herself. It was a shame that they seemed to have such a fool for a scout, but she supposed that he was useful enough, so long as he could figure out enemy scent markers and knew how to defend himself. You didn't need to be particularly intelligent to know how to fight.

She turned her gaze back to her Alpha as he addressed her and while she was surprised at the invitation to join him, she inclined her head towards him.

"It would be my honor to join you." She said. "I shall return momentarily." And so she left towards the prey pile, with a noticeable bit more pep in her step as she plucked some manner of bird from the pile and returned promptly, her wagging tail being the largest indicator of her delight of the situation.

Placing the bird at her paws when she reached her Alpha, she peered up at him.
"My Alpha, if you don't mind my asking while I eat, have you yet considered who you might take on as your Beta? Or as a Lead Hunter, for that matter? I realize I may be bold in asking, but it's not often I've been invited to your side and I wish to make the most of it."

indentationTail swishing softly and slightly from side to side as a show of nerves, the brown shaded lupine distractedly hummed as Sandpiper agreed with them. One slow blink later, they abruptly brought themselves out of their thoughts and returned their attention to their companion. Ears flushed with heat, they nodded and gave a stuttered agreement. "I - Y-yeah, sure." Bian mentally huffed at themselves, way to sound like an insecure newly made hunter, Bian. Claws once again digging into the soil, Bian crouched down as Sandpiper made her way away. The small lupine made sure to keep an eye on both Sandpiper and the Raccoon. The smallest rustle of leaves or snap of a twig could set it off. They thought darkly, but then again so could the wind if it's against us.

indentation At Erle's question, his ears perked, it had been a while since he'd had a good spar. His smaller size, and more impassive nature - though still quite fierce as those lightning dogs could attest to - led to some underestimating him. He was rather average when it came to brute strength, but his small size and lean muscle gave him an agility boost that some didn't recognize until later. Arian's answer got a grin out of him. "Well, something to look forward to at least." He murmured as his gaze wandered the border, slowly scanning the area. Nose wrinkling as the fresh scent that quite honestly was rather rancid to him, before he turned his attention back to Arian. "Mark and move along or are we staying a while?" He queried softly before his dark eyes flickered back to the border. Kazue had always been a rather straight-to-the-point kind of wolf, so he seemed rather curt - almost bordering on rude - with most everyone.

"I didn't want to bring up the fact that I may or may not have been eavesdropping but... I heard what you said and I just wanted you to know that I feel the same. Do what you like with that information" she explained in a low voice, keeping her gaze ahead while occasionally flicking her eyes over to watch Leo's face as they walked along.

Following the lead of Thess, Risen nodded and looked towards where the wolf had seen the deer. Just as she said, seemingly 5 deer with no males in sight "I agree. I don't see any males" he commented. While these female herds were a thing something in him felt a little unsure. "Maybe we caught them while the buck is gone" he added with another whiff of the air. He flicked his tail slightly in anticipation.

As the deer scent flooded his nostrils as they grew closer, it felt as electricity was in his veins. He couldn't remember being this excited for a hunt in a while. His paws felt as if they weren't touching the ground as he walked - you would call it a pep in his step. Risen flicked his ear towards the deer. Trying to pickup any sounds, he could hear them softly calling to one another. But they hadn't changed in tune. The deer didn't know they were there.

As smoke promised to keep an eye on them, Risen looked back and offered the warrior a small "Thank you Smoke. Hopefully we catch something awesome so we have a reason to celebrate" he added before turning his attention back to the herd in front of him.

He lowered his head in anticipation "Well Thess? Are you reedy to make the call? Where do you need me to go" he asked, itching to take off and start the hunt.

Destiny pricked her ears as she neared the riverside. She could hear a faint growl but wondered if it was coming from the wolf she had scented. Her curious nature always getting the best of her, she walked along side her border to the growl. Was it a member of her pack? She wondered. Maybe it was a Lightning wolf , what If it was a Lightning wolf? She wondered.

What did it matter anyway if it was another wolf from another pack. They were at one another's throats and for what? A little extra space in the territory? She scoffed to herself. The war was pointless. She swished her tail in annoyance at the war. Now she was really thinking about it and it was absolutely pointless.

Glancing over across the river , she hadn't even realized she was facing the other wolf. She was so lost in her thoughts that she had spaced out. Looking over it was a lightning wolf. She raised her head to glanced at the golden wolf across the river. The wolf looked upset. Destiny, being the kind soul she liked to consider herself. Looked around to see if anyone else was around. There wasn't - at least that she saw. Opening her moth she asked "Are you okay?"

Blaze dipped his head as Octavia began to leave the medic den. He knew there wasn't much left for him to say without sounding odd. He turned his attention back to Aleck with a smile. "have you eaten yet today?" he asked with a soft flick of his tail. The dark wolf wouldn't let anyone know - he had a habit of showing Aleck the most affection than the other wolves. Perhaps the most affection he had shown ever. He had a genuine what felt like instinct to take care of the medic.

She looked at the prey there, there was not much, except the doe. She turned to see her mentor there and walked to her "Terra, so what plans did you have for us today?" she asked her mentor. She flicked her tail "you got to find someone to accompany us to collect some herbs? right? So there was nobody available to join us?" she kept asking her.

He narrowed his eyes "I didn't try to order you around, I just told you...you don't want to be around when the others get hungry and angry because of that..." he responded to her with a sight. His eyes looked to his half-sister Nyx there talking with Risen "hmm, well at least someone is being useful to do things without waiting for some orders" he said to her "you know we don't have a lead hunter to order you around..." he said with a smirk.

She stayed silent as the others talked about the group of doe herd they were found. She made a quick smile when the others were thinking about the missing male deer if it was somewhere nearby or not "maybe there is no buck, maybe the buck is hunted down already" she said silently. She made a look at Smoke when she decided to stay at watch 'as you please...' she thought to herself and followed after the all-around and Risen.

He took a few steps backward to give the hunter more space to eat, he sat down with a little yawn escaping his jaws "actually I don't think anything important being happened so far...I am not being awakened long either..." he said to her. He thought for a moment "but I think some patrols...no hunters left the camp...so I think you need to wait for a little later to join a hunting patrol...perhaps...I could go hunting too, but...well...I just ate..." he responded with a laugh.

She nodded to her mentor's question "yes I do want to try...as you said catching a bird, a big bird is a rare catch so why not catch one...or at least try" she said. She perked her ears up and listened to the voices, sniffed the air, and eventually, she even located the hawk "It's there, the hawk is there...at the branch...great...how do you get it down there?" she asked her mentor rather disappointed.

He listened to his brother, rolling his eyes "seriously, why did you use Sable's your highness word? nobody really understands what it means except us..." he said sighing "you remember when we were pups and played the alpha and its followers, Sable always used the word your highness to the alpha...I know it's high praise, but not everyone understated it...so I don't think you could use words coming for Sable...she has one big weird vocabulary ever" he responded to him with a smile.

She silently watched after the medic, she could see his nervousness but didn't find anything odd about that. She gave a look to the Blaze as well, as the medic was bringing the remedy for her little problem "oh thank you Aleck" she responded as she took the remedy "yeah I will come to you if I needed to thank you again" she said to him with a soft smile as she started to make her leave.

She left the small-worded hunter alone and looked for someone else to chat with. Her eyes looked over to Destiny there. The black she-wolf walked toward the brown-grey all-around "hello, nothing to do?" she asked the she-wolf. Her eyes looked around for the others the groups seemed to be organized here and there, she didn't know if they were involved in patrols or has they just organized their own little groups.

She nodded to the hunter "yes, I didn’t even think we would prey on anything big, so this is good to me" she responded to her. She didn't know why but talking with Tendril seemed so much harder than with Kass. With Kass, she can be herself and say whatever she wants, but with Tendril she needs to actually think about what to say. She made a smile at Kass before looking back to Tendril "hear her, yeah lead the way..." she repeated.

Sandpiper flicked an ear quizzically at Bian as they voiced their agreement. They seemed a little distracted - she hoped that it wouldn't impair the duo's hunt. However, she was by no means concerned; Bian had certainly earned their Hunter's title in far more ways than one. She knew she could count on them. Sandpiper offered a small smile to her packmate before slinking out of sight.
The Huntress turned her nose to the air, in an effort to find the direction of the wind. If the breeze blew her scent towards the raccoon, it would completely destroy what she was trying to accomplish. There were so many factors that could set a hunt in the wrong direction. She shuffled over the forest floor, her tail raised off the ground and feet sliding through the snow-touched grass. Her shoulders rolled back and forth as she took steps as far as she could without tripping over herself. Sandpiper's ears were touched by the beat of her heart, and she could almost feel the breath stirring in her lungs. It was like energy danced through her blood.
The raccoon lifted its head from the stream, its little muzzle dripping with cold water droplets. Sandpiper froze, wondering if she'd notified it of her presence. After a few hour-long seconds, the striped creature lifted its paws and began wiping at its face. Relieved, the she-wolf kept moving. Soon enough, she was behind the creature.
Sandpiper glanced upwards, in Bian's direction. Although most of her packmate's figure was obstructed by the frosted foliage, she could make out their general area. Not wanting to wait until the last second, she returned her sights to the raccoon, and tensed.
With a loud, sudden bark, Sandpiper erupted from the bushes where she hid, skidding behind the wretched creature. It made a strange, almost guttural noise, and flew from its relaxed position. It cleared the stream, leaping over the bubbling water with little scrabbling paws. The raccoon began running in fear, making an effort to escape.

Thessadowes narrowed her eyes, settling in silence for a few seconds. She turned back around to survey the deer herd, looking at each one for any signs of impairment. Unfortunately, she could not see any injuries. Thess released a short, vaguely unhappy puff of air, but shook her head slightly. She had to pick one to chase after - the group couldn't each just shoot away at a random doe. Thessadowes glanced at the closest animal, and made up her mind.
"Alright, then." The All-Arounder said softly, turning to face the patrol group with a serious face.
"The doe closest to us is probably the best bet. If we head out after this one first, we have better chances than trying to take one out further into the field. None of these deer have injuries, but they are not well aware of their surroundings from what I can tell." Thessadowes informed, casting a side-eyed look over her shoulder.
"I'll take the back side, and start catching its legs. Risen, you'll run on the doe's right flank, and Nyx will take the opposite. Nyx will bite and nip at the doe's side to drive it towards Risen. Since this is a three-wolf hunting patrol, power should have to beat carefulness. We can't risk it getting away." Thessadowes spoke, her words laced with thought. Her brows were furrowed, and she shook out her pelt, as if to release the tension she felt. She glanced up at Smoke, and pricked her ears in acknowledgement at her statement.
"Is everyone suited with their positions?" Thess queried, although it was more of a seek for plan confirmation than an offer to reorganize. It seemed she was leading the hunt, and as easygoing as she was, the All-Around didn't wish to be challenged.

OOC: This is my first time planning out a roleplay wolf hunt as the 'director' of it. Please, tell me if I am doing something incorrectly!


Tendril | Fire Pack | Hunter | Location: Camp -> Forest | Tagging: Kassandra, Serafina

Tendril tilted her head towards the two wolves before exiting the camp. Although she wasn't deeply connected with these Huntresses, she hoped maybe she could get to know them a little better as they headed towards their destination.
The she-wolf blinked a couple times as she padded into the woods. It felt very open, very welcoming, as the bustle of the camp began turning into background noise, and the songs of the early spring birds became more clear and apparent. Tendril inhaled the fresh forest air, allowing the scents and the chill to tickle her nose. She crinkled her muzzle slightly, and swept her tail gently from side to side.
"The winds are cold this morning," She opened with a small sigh, glancing down at her feet as they made soft impressions in the frosty grasses beneath.
"I can't wait for the remaining snows to melt. The chilliness is uncomfortable, to me." The Huntress said, her voice laced with a little laugh.
"How are your guyses' mornings going? I haven't had the chance to talk with you two in a bit."
