There isn't an end date as such. But we'll have a 'monitoring' date, at the end of this month . If everyone has submitted an entry then we'll end it there.

You guys would be so proud of Fontane. On Saturday my mother and i went out garage saling, and we went to a 'horse gear' sale. The lady there was helping us pick out a coat for Clancey, But because mum forgot what size coat he was, she was gonna get him a 6'1 when he was only a 5'9 (Being a 15.1hh thoroughbred). So we compromised at 6'0, and got him a bright red (Probably the colour of Vampire at the moment ;D) with blue squiggles all over. Then we went to pick out a new bridle for Fontane. But; her being shy and all; we didn't know what size bridle she was. So i got her a cob (I think thats what it was). We get home and after one hell of alot of coaxing, i got her. It took be about an hour of her flipping out before i decided to put it on her piece by piece. Starting with the nose band. I got that on her. Walked her around (This is without the ear band or bit) and got the bit. I put it over her neck; slid it through the bottom of the nose band, and geuss what. Nope. Couldn't get the bit in her mouth. So now i'm leaving her until next weekend so i can have another go. Then i'm off to work experience 8D.

When horses don't take the bit, either give them oats, or wipe the bit with something tasty like a peppermint cloth or something. It makes them take it easier. If they don't like it still, put your thumbs in the back of their mouths so they will open. What kind of horse are we talking about again?

Meh, if I were you I'd just stick my finger in the horses mouth to get them to open it. X) Smetimes my horse just like I don't want to work today so he doesn't take the bit. Then I'm all like YOU ARE GOING TO WORK TODAY D:< And I stick my finger in his mouth to get him to open it. Then I'm all like good boy and pat him on the forehead

See, thats the issue, Fontane was abused, she is literally [censored] scared of people. Every time i tried to put it in her mouth she refused, and almost bit my hand of! But i geuss she just attaches the thought of being abused with a bridle.

Fontane is a Welsh Mountain Pony Mare. She's a light flea bitten grey, her front hooves are dark grey and her back hooves are cream with grey lines. I may start giving updates on her as i work with her.

When she first came; she was so scared of people! We had her in a yard that was about 1/4 of an acer, (Because we live on 9 acers) and if we were at the corner (where the gate was) she would bolt around, freaking out on the other side of the pen. Eventually we were able to get her to calm down (hehe, food oreintated) and she was quite friendly (You still couldn't catch her, but she was coming up closer).

Now, you can basically go out into the paddock and she'll be 10 meters away. One day i was treating her with Mega horse, and she loved it. The next day i went out, shut the gate behind me, turn around and shes about a meter away, sniffing me. She's also really interested in cameras. She'll walk up when your trying to photograph her.

She's had a rider on her back, but she only have a halter on, with the saddle on her (For the first time i've had her). But because she's leg shy i had to use a stick to grab the girth so she didn't do what she did to the Farrier :S .

Thats most of her interesting stories so far. She's gonna be a great pony for someone one day. I just hope if i have to sell her on she doesn't get sent away to the doggers. The person who was selling her said that was her next step. But i couldn't let that happen. I'm saving up to get her sent away to a trainer. I want to be able to ride her before i get too big for her. Though i am 15..... >.>'.....

Aww that's sad. Well at least now she has a good home and she's not afriad of people anymore. In that case I would suggest giving her about a small handfull of oats and then trying to put the bit in. Then once you have the bit in give her another handfull as a treat for taking the bit.
