Anton trotted ahead as a scout, head whipping back and forth as he scanned the surroundings. The city hadn't been what he'd expected; he'd been there twice before, sure, but it was so... empty. No life seemed to survive there. And yet, he always felt as if he was being watched.

A slick, crunching noise followed by a horrid scream sounded behind Anton. He whipped around and sprinted as fast as he could back to his friends, turning a corner and skidding to a stop to see White staring at him while Green was huddled in the dirt, paws covering their eyes.

"Please, please don't hurt me!"

White tore their gaze away from Anton to look at Green and give them a slow blink in reply. Anton laughed nervously before padding over to Green and helping them get up from their panicked huddle, tail rubbing their shoulders in the most soothing way he could. Green was such a jumpy werm, Anton thought, a pang of sadness for his friend cutting through him as Green stumbled around in a daze. They'd take it slow today.
