Well he is absolutely anthro, so if that’s your definition of ‘furry’ he definitely fits. However, I wouldn’t call him ‘furry’ as I personally define furry characters/designs as those being explicitly made with the intention to be viewed and used in the furry community, which Sonic obviously isn’t.

That’s the case in the earliest American Sonic Bible, so you’re correct if that’s what you’re referring to! However basically everything in the Sonic Bible is no longer considered canon to any degree (and was never even considered outside of Sega of America), so that isn’t his canon origin (especially given that there are so many other anthros like him in the series haha)
