feed them once every 1 - 2 hours. And you need to feed them at night too so be prepared to lose sleep while caring for the little guy.

I couldn’t count on anyone to stand there behind me
And keep the dogs from dragging me off with them
While I slept you crept in and pulled the rug right out from under me
Then the rain stole away and took the parts that kept me functioning

My heart will be blacker than your eyes when I’m through with you

urgh I think he's a gonner,
his heart is still beating but there is not much response from him
no more deep breaths but I don't know if that is a good thing or not!

or is that just how they sleep? they zone out?

That doesn't sound very good but he might still have a chance! Just keep trying to feed him and get him to a vet soon as soon possible!

animals00 wrote:Well today at the wildlife shelter I volunteered at 2 baby mice were brought in, both pink and about 2 cm long, they are tiny! eyes are not open, no hair, we're not sure how old but no more than a day old!
we had trouble feeding them, i attempted to and kinda failed I think as one died
however I just found a way with the end of a needle, hard to describe but I think it works
being the animal lover that I am, i took it home (well both, one died at home) as the others dismissed them as no goes (and they are probably right) BUT I want to try anyway
hwoever, no one has ever had any this young!
so does anyone with pet mice have any tips?
do you know how fast they grow?
How often will it need feeding?
Will it need feeding at night?
and any tips on how to keep it alive!

I am feeding it cimicat (kitten replacement milk) with some avipro (an anti stress thing)
i also have a hedgehog =} but am not worried bout it!

EDIT: If you're more of a rat person, please tell me for rats, as they're similar
RE-EDIT: any rodents in general will help =)

Yes, indeed. I've had babies like this. Kitten formula is AMAZING. You can feed them from an eye dropper. Put the tip of it on their mouth, and squeeze a little bit out. If they don't eat it at first, and the formula is all over their mouth, they will eventually lick it up. Feed them at least 8 times a day. Night time, at least feed it before you go to sleep if you can feed him more than that. I'm sure you've gotten a pretty good idea of times but yeah.

the vet wont be able to do anything, it's an orphan, if the senior volunteers couldn't do anything, neither will they as vets are not really used to newborn mice, the only thing I want from the vet is a smaller seringe XD
although i'll ask him anyways
but then, I doubt it'll make the night!
although like you said, it might still have a chance!

I don't really have an idropper though =/
so far I've been soaking the end of a sewing needle in milk and putting it in the mouth, the bit with the loop holds milk in and there is a milk band so its been taking it in
it's just onight I have to sleep, as I have a very important exam tommorow and I need rest for it!
I'll go and check on it now =)
(I have cats so don't keep it in my room, also the hedgehog is smelly >.< )

It should go on its own...
If you have to help your hedgehog go to the washroom there is probably something really wrong with it.

no babies can't go on their own, you have to stimulate them, but its hard to get them to uncurl =/
