"Wha-What happened?" Yewpaw saw only stars and blurs, then the stars went. She saw a ton of Raintree's and Wildflower's. She tried to move her leg, but wined at the effort.

“Hold still,” mewed Wildflower. “Your leg is broken.” She quickly put on the splint with the comfrey and marigold and licked the top of Yewpaw’s head to get her to sleep.

Reedsong wondered what Dustheart was thinking. Would he want to be mates with her? “Sure, let’s go for a walk,” she said. They crossed through the woods, and Reedsong, deciding to finally make a move, twined her tail with his. He licked the top of her head. Reedsong buried her face in his shoulder fur, purring.
