Yūdokuna Yoake
literal translation: Toxic Dawn
Universe: MHA
Hero Name: Dokusei (translation: Toxicity)
Nickname: Doku (translation: Toxic)
Quirk: Scorpion
Quirk Explaination:
At an obvious glance, Yūdokuna has a
Mutant or
Heteromorphic quirk that gives them scorpion-like traits. These traits include a stinging tail with a multitude of toxic venoms, 'exo-skin' or tough outer layers of skin that perform much like an exoskeleton, the ability to climb walls and ceilings with ease, an incredibly strong grip and arm strength observed in scorpions who commonly tear apart the bodies of their same species with such strength. Doku has an increased resilience to things such as extreme temperatures, lack of food and water, or being submerged underwater for extended periods of time, as scorpions can remain underwater for 48 consecutive hours without drowning.
Yūdokuna's exoskeleton-esque skin is surprisingly lightweight without sacrificing durability, allowing her to remain agile with "built in" armor. While her skin is typically impenetrable to most blades and sharp objects, it does have the capability to be crushed under immense pressure, giving way to vulnerable flesh underneath. Because her skin is a hard outer shell, she does have to go through the process of shedding her skin the same way a scorpion would. After shedding, her skin takes a few days to harden. It's an unsettling process that typically requires her to take a week off, but it usually only happens every six months. If she increases muscle mass consistently and regularly, she will need to shed more often to make room for her body's growth. Growth spurts during puberty were a nightmare...
Her body produces several different venoms, all with different affects. The venoms are created through the combination of toxic constituents her body creates, leaving a great potential for more venoms with new affects to be created through numerous combinations; though the morality of testing these new combinations on living subjects prevents Dokusei from pursuing this. Because her body produces these toxic constituents naturally, it is impossible for her to be poisoned by her own venom and most naturally occurring toxic substances. While this is an upside, it also prevents her from being able to test new venom combinations on herself, as she is the only one she would willingly use as a test subject if given the option.
Because she produces venom, she also produces the antidote. Most antidotes to venom can only be created through the proper dilution and deconstruction of the same venom; in her free time Yūdokuna makes these antidotes and keeps them stocked on her person at all times. Her strong moral compass requires that she administer antidotes to those that she uses her venom on, even if they are villains, as her goal is not to kill. Of course, she often waits until the appropriate time to administer the antidote when the villain is apprehended and restrained which makes it all the more compelling for villains to comply in order to be rid of the incredibly uncomfortable affects of her poison.
Venoms
- Neuromuscular Paralysis; a venom that causes victims nerves to fire all at once causing muscle spasms, paralysis, and (if dosed in large quantities) death. The dosage it takes to paralyze a a victim is often small but depends on the individual's body mass. Larger foes require a larger dose to be fully paralyzed. Dokusei only administers the venom in .5 increments of potency to prevent overdose, each .5 increment accounting for about 50lbs of body weight. This dosage can be adjusted lower for smaller foes but Dokusei refuses to increase dosage past .5 increments. While one dosage generally won't paralyze a victim entirely, each dosage makes it harder and harder for the victim to move until they've been dosed enough times to induce full paralysis.
- Numbness; a venom not unlike paralysis but travels slowly throughout the victims system. This venom can be rather severe in nature, as too large or potent of a dosage could reach vital organs or the heart, resulting in organ or heart failure. As a rule of thumb, Dokusei only administers this venom in small controlled dosages into limbs and surface area away from a victims vitals. The slow spread often allows her to administer the antidote before the minute dosage can reach the organs. When used carefully, this toxin can be diluted or used in small amounts to relieve the pain of broken bones, and minor to severe flesh wounds provided they are a safe distance from the individuals vital organs and the dosage is small enough.
- Hemotoxin; a venom that poisons the blood, killing red blood cells and preventing blood clotting / coagulation. If a victim has flesh wounds, this toxin prevents the wounds from scabbing over for as long as the toxin is in their system, this inevitably can lead to the victim bleeding out. From a healing standpoint, if diluted and administered correctly it can help disperse life threatening blood clots and prevent them from forming.
- Cytotoxin; a venom that kills cells, useful against regeneration-type quirks. Once in a victims system, it actively continues to kill off cells which can prevent the healing process a quell quick regeneration. In large doses it is deadly for obvious reasons but in normal doses it can cause excruciating pain and over time contribute to muscle degradation and fatigue. This toxin kills all cells, including cancerous ones, making it another helpful healing toxin when diluted and administered properly.
- Neurotoxin; similar to the venom that causes neuromuscular paralysis, the neurotoxin affects the nervous system and more specifically, the brain. The most volatile and unpredictable venom she produces, neurotoxin is potent in it's affects but affects everyone differently. It disrupts cognitive function in every victim but this can lead to different reactions based on the individual; reactions include: severe hallucinations, psychotic breaks, seizures, blackouts / fainting, a brain-dead like passivity, or bouts of frenzied and violent behavior the cannot be controlled by the victim and can result in their own bodily harm or harm to others. It is currently unclear what causes each individual to have a different reaction. Because of the outcome is so unpredictable and risky, Dokusei avoids using this venom at all or telling anyone about it, though she studies it privately hoping to find a useful benefit amongst it's constituents or a way to control it's affects.
Fighting Style
Understanding the drawback of relying on a quirk too heavily, Yūdokuna trains in traditional close combat fighting, occasionally tailoring the techniques to use her body, specifically her large tail, to her advantage. Flexible and agile, Doku ensures her hard outer layer and tail don't slow her down. Throwing knives and darts are among her fighting techniques, a skill she took on with the intention of including a long-range aspect to her fighting style, as her quirk generally requires her to be in close combat to utilize her sting or arm strength. She does her best to stretch the usefulness of her poisonous quirk, adept in chemistry and alchemy to study her own venoms and extracting them regularly from her own tail to study, experiment with, create antidotes, donate to hospitals for their healing capabilities, and utilize in battle. On the battle field, the extracted venom is used to dip her throwing knives and darts, making them all the more deadly and giving her toxic ability more range.
