suggestion: censoring pet species

with the recent addition of the snake pets on chicken smoothie i have been having a rather hard time using the site. i was not able to come online for the entire first week of the month because the idea that there might be a snake in my pet groups made me so ill and uncomfortable i considered not coming back altogether. however, i have grown up on chicken smoothie and it holds a very special place in my heart. the idea of not being able to play this game anymore is very upsetting, so i decided to throw this idea out there:

i wish there was a way to censor pets.
i am unsure if this is possible from a coding perspective, but i assume it could be somewhat similar to the blocking system? you are able to flag specific users and not see their posts (or choose to view it after confirming), and i wish the same could be done with pets. having the pets be replaced with a warning or even just a blank image would greatly help my nerves and allow me to feel more secure on the site.

i know i am not the only person who feels this way, as many people in the past have spoken up about how they feel uncomfortable with specific pets. some immediate examples that come to mind are spiders, the realistic bugs from last halloween, and the chickens that throw up (edit: apparently they are Not throwing up, but i am substituting in the dead horse). being able to hide either an entire pet species (snakes, in my case) or specific pets that you dislike (the halloween bugs, as they are on the butterfly wolf lines and normal caterpillars may not be an issue) would be a nice way to make the site more inviting and safe :]

again, i have no idea if this is possible but i wanted to put my concerns out and see if anyone had any input or ideas on this!! i know it would not be total fix as people can post flat images and not a direct link to the pet, but when i am minding my own business looking at my own pets it would be very helpful :] feel free to let me know what you think if youve read this far, and thank you so much for hearing me out!! have a great day everyone!! <33

april edit: with the april fools prank this year of adding mustaches to the pets of their choosing, i think that would be a possible way to censor pets permanently!! instead of making the overlay look like an item they could make a solid transparent square that could be assigned to pet types/species. since it seemed to be random which pets they chose to get the overlay i feel like it would be possible for players to have a "blacklist" where they can choose which pets would get a censoring overlay. i am not sure if this is how they coded this so take my words with a grain of salt, i just really want a censoring feature to be implemented so i am throwing out any ideas i can :]

This'd be a really good idea bc to add to this I have an extreme discomfort at anything that's wormy (so worms, slugs, maggots, snails, etc) and it's really hard bc for my rat collection I have to see those rats with snails on top and if it wasn't clearly a drawing I'd probably not even been able to pass my gaze by them. So I support a way to either hide specific pets or hide specific months/events under maybe a blackout filter(?) or just like we have a wishlist make some sort of banlist so we can pick specific pets to not show up on searches/trades.

support, maybe if this gets implimented we could have a "block" feature for species for trades too? itd be extra prevention for people not getting pets theyre uncomfortable with seeing in trades, i feel

i think this is a good idea, especially for people who have phobias!!
though, i believe it would be easier to do with species rather than specific pets - unless there was a list created of pets that contain sensitive material and have a general opt-out for those pets

Well, if you are on Desktop/Laptop, you can do it yourself with any Ad-Blocking Add-on/Extension in your Browser with a simple Right-Click + "Block Element/Image", if you can "endure" to see the Image once before blocking it, or you'd need to ask some Friend/Relative to do it for you once...

I deliberately removed the 'bg=' Param in the URL's ("bg" = "Background"), => one same Rule/Filter for one Image (= one Pet Growing Stage) works for Groups + Archives + Trades, I'm not sure about the Pound...

And when browsing some other Player's Groups, it won't work if they've added Items to their Pet... (as the URL's are each time different)...

i support this! both the idea of censoring species and specific pets due to outliers. i have no animal phobias myself but it must be horrible for those with these fears. snakes and spiders are common phobias after all

I did this on a different adoptables site I was on because there was just one spider pet, but there's too many spiders on CS for me to bear to do this... and even if there were only one, unfortunately, that site and CS have the same problem, which is related to the issue in your last sentence: When people display their pets in their signatures using the provided code, well, that code uses the pet's ID (same as when you dress up a pet--it uses the pet ID), which means every URL is different... so blocking species on our own is super unfeasible :')

And as you can see, the last Spider was in 2018 (for the 10th CS-BDay), + 3 Skorpions for 'Halloween 2019', so the List stays rather "stable" I would think, for the last few years...

Oh wow, thank you so much for getting these!! From what little I've dared to test, it works perfectly, so this is great for now I can finally open the Archives and double check old months for missing pets again lol and indeed, I personally have no problem with scorpions (so far) so separating them out is much appreciated. And yeah, thankfully the list should be pretty stable now since spiders are no longer regularly released.
