at last, the thaw has come. flower buds replace snowdrifts, and the land is freed from frost.
clan can expect to find more prey, more herbs, and more cats looking for a home. however,
predators have started coming out of hiding as well, and may pose extra threats in the nice
weather; beware to those who try to challenge them.

TUNDRACLAN ▬ selkirks

hunting results
• duckleap's patrol praises one another when they gather around their catch of x2 hares and x1 tundra vole. however, in their moment of excitement, it seems, they let their guards down and gave a group of rogues following them the perfect opening for an attack. thankfully, the tundraclan cats fall into formation and push back, fighting bravely together to drive the rogues away from their fresh-kill and clan mates. just when they believe that they have won the skirmish, one of the rogues breaks free and darts before their defenses. cinnamonpounce lets out a warcry, but the rogue is faster and more nimble compared to the aging warrior. cinnamonpounce's clanmates watch in terror as the rogue lands a killing blow before retreating. quickly, the tundraclan warriors work together to gather cinnamonpounce's body and carry him back to camp. they make it just in time, and cinnamonpounce is able to using his dying breaths to say goodbye to eiderpuddle...
• fortunately, with so many of the other patrols encountering rogues this moon, emberleap's patrol passes rather uneventfully, ending the day by placing x1 common raven and x1 stoat on the fresh-kill pile.
• silksky and gaster pause in the middle of their hunting when they hear a familiar voice shout in the distance, which is quickly followed by another of their patrol-mates calling for back-up. the pair abandon the stash of x1 hare, x1 common raven, and x1 tundra shrew to join a fight as valorcloud, dunestep, and softpuddle battle against a full patrol of rogues. by the time failnaughtfire and caimanripple join the fray, many of the rogues have disappeared, screeching from defeat and anger. silksky turns to her clanmates to congratulate them on their victory just as valorcloud collapses. it seems that the warrior has sustained grave injuries from the rogues, and the patrol tries to stop the bleeding. he asks silksky to tell his parents that he loves them, and that he'll be watching over tundraclan, before his chest flutters with one final breath before he lies still. numbly, silksky orders caimanripple to collect their prey for earlier in the day, and she helps carry valorcloud's body back to camp, unsure of how she could possibly break the news to twistedcloud and bittersap.

border patrol results
• cedarshade's patrol encounters an elderly cat who eyes the clan cats warily, as if they aren't sure what to make of the younger cats with their newfangled names. but, after some chat, the cat decides that they would like to acompany the clan cats back to their camp, to see what its all about.
indent↪ the elder is a "black-and-white mediumhair with blue-yellow sectoral heterochromia," colored by Dinolil1 on H155's lines. here is their starting geno: Ll, B-, Xo-, D-, aa, --, C-, WsWs
• terrabite's patrol also encounters a stranger, as they track a scent trail to where an adult-aged cat has set up a den. however, after watching the clan cats on their patrols, the cat expresses interest to learn more about them.

herb hunting results
• by the afternoon, the healers are excited by their bundle of herbs, including x1 cobwebs, x1 horsetail, x1 stinging nettle, x1 oak leaves, x1 foxglove, and x1 stick. however, their guards are quick to raise the alarm at the first sign of a rogue attack. thankfully, the tundraclan cats fight the rogues off, but not before the rogues manage to steal x1 foxglove.

training results
• both babypaw and plumepaw failed to learn a skill this moon after they spent too much time playing games. though they had a lot of fun, they'll have to try and learn their skills next moon.
• sandstonepaw wrenched a claw while trying out a difficult battle move. unfortunately, he failed to learn the skill and his injury became infected. he will need to take x1 moon of rest and be treated with x1 stinging nettle and x1 oak leaves before he can jump back into training.
• lavenderpaw also failed to learn a skill this moon after he accidentally scraped his shoulder. thankfully, the scratch is shallow and he will only require x1 marigold or x1 moon of rest.
• finally, peppermintpaw joins several of her denmates in the medicine cats' den this moon, where she tells them that she also failed to learn a skill. instead, she received a minor infection while swimming after she cut her paw on a sharp stone. thankfully, the healers caught it before it became too bad, and she will only need x1 moon of rest before she can return to training.
• all of the other apprentices pass their training sessions and learn their respective skills without incident.

assessment results
• unfortunately, blackberrypaw's assessment had to be cut short. while trying to show off her hunting technique, a hare turned on her and lashed out. she tried to dodge the attack, but the hare's claws made contact, opening up a wound down her flank. thankfully, she made to back to camp before the wound could become infected, but she is disheartened to hear that she will not be able to finish the assessment this moon. instead, she will need to be treated with x1 cobwebs, x1 horsetail, and x2 moons of rest before she'll be healed and ready to try again.

VAGARYCLAN ▬ [kat]

hunting patrol results
• moonbounce's patrol caught x2 small fish and x1 bird. however, their hunting came to an abrubt end after cedarbranch caught the scent of a fox rapidly approaching the patrol, likely attracted to the scent of fresh-kill. before the patrol could get far, however, the fox attacked, lashing out first at ebonysmoke before turning on cedarbranch when the warrior came to his clanmate's defense. after a fast but difficult fight, the vagaryclan cats managed to fight the fox off, but ebonysmoke and cedarbranch sustained the worst injuries. ebonysmoke will require x1 cobweb and x1 horsetail, as well as x2 moons of rest, and cedarbranch will need to take x2 moons of rest and be treated with x1 horsetail and x1 marigold.
• berryshade's patrol had an amazing start after sloeberry caught x1 big fish, adding it to their pile of x1 bird, x1 squirrel, and x2 mice. however, while trying to catch another fish, sloeberry slipped and fell into the stream. jagged rocks on the bottom of the stream cut him up, and he will need x1 horsetail and x1 thyme as well as x2 moons of rest. meanwhile, nightflash jumped in the water to save sloeberry, but she accidentally hit her head on a rock and received a concussion. thankfully, it was a minor case, but she will still need x1 moon of rest.
• sharprunner's patrol caught x1 bird, x1 vole, and x1 rabbit. however, while trying to flush out a rabbit warren to catch more prey, swarmclaw and jakob stood too close to the exit, and the rabbits turned in fear on the warriors and scratched them. swarmclaw managed to back up out of surprise, and he will only need x1 moon of rest. jakob, however, sustained more severe bleeding as a result and will need x1 cobweb, x1 marigold, and x2 moons of rest.

border patrol results
• rainwatcher's patrol gathers around when skipstone calls that he found something important. worried about an intruder or predator, the patrol is quick to go on the defensive, but are even faster to turn on skipstone in disbelief when they find out that he got them all worked up over x5 pebbles.
• rustfoot's patrol encounters a warrior-aged cat trying to catch a mouse, but they begin cursing loudly when the mouse scurries just out of reach under tree roots. the vagaryclan cats exchange bemused glances before rustfoot finally calls out to ask what they're doing on vagaryclan's territory.

• after a long and tiring moon of trying to find their way home, foxcatcher's patrol returns back to camp. the clan is relieved that all of their clanmates are accounted for and seemingly uninjured, if not a little shaken up from the experience.

herb hunting results
• fadedsun and the other medicine cats gathered an impressive bundle of x1 cobwebs, x1 marigold, x1 horsetail, x1 goldenrod, x1 poppy seeds, and x1 rush.

mates & families
• snowynight visits the medicine cats' den and comes out with good news - she is expecting goosewing's kits. she is due in 2 moons.

training results
• partridgepaw passed and learned a skill this moon. however, he sprained his paw during the session and will need x1 moon of rest to recover.
• twigpaw also passed this moon, but joins her denmates in the medicine cats' den after turtlesplash notices that she has been limping. it turns out that twigpaw cut her pawpad, but neglected to tell anyone. by the time fadedsun takes a look, the cut has become infected and twigpaw will need to be treated with x1 stinging nettle and x1 sweet-sedge. she will also need x1 moon of rest.
with injury
• unfortunately, hummingpaw failed her training session after she received a nasty scratch on her face. she will need to take x1 moon of rest before she can try again.
• flurrypaw failed to learn a skill this moon.
• all of the other apprentices pass their training sessions and learn their respective skills.

assessment results
• while taking his assessment, charcoalpaw tried to climb a tree. however, the bark was slick from recent rain, and he slipped, hitting the ground with a hard thud. he is quickly taken back to camp, where fadedsun determines that he received a concussion from the fall, which will require x1 dandelion, x1 poppy seeds, and x1 moon of rest. needless to say, charcoalpaw failed his assessment.
• unfortunately, twinepaw failed his assessment. but he can try again next moon.
• cougarpaw and polarpaw passed their assessments and are ready to be welcomed as full warriors of vagaryclan.

hunting patrol results
• windclaw's patrol caught x1 large bird, but had to turn back and return to camp after bluestorm scratched her shoulder. she will need to be treated with x1 oak leaves, x1 cobwebs, and x2 moons of rest before returning to full duties.
• meanwhile, dusteye's patrol caught x2 squirrels before coalbreaker cut his paw on a sharp stone. thankfully, the bleeding subsides rather quickly, but he will need x1 moon of rest to make sure that it doesn't become infected.

• laurelstar's patrol passed uneventfully with nothing particularly new to report.
• sunflower's patrol, meanwhile came across an expecting queen. after they are sure that the patrol means them no harm, they decide to join the clan cats and return to auroraclan's camp. their litter will be due in 2 moons.

Leaf-bare has come to a close and snow has begun to melt. Rain is more common which may lead to floods in water-based or low-lying territories. Prey is only just begining to return, kittings will run smoother, and the chances of kitting-related deaths will start to drop. ✦the plague is finally over. the last cats with the sickness have passed away, and no new cats are showing any symptoms of having caught it. a large group of healthy cats volunteer to help the rit zien and grigori deep clean the abandoned church that they have called home for so long in an attempt to be rid of any remaining traces of the plague that may still linger in some crack or crevice.

✦martencloud's son and daughter are wrought with grief at his death, which is especially hard on barleypaw because of how close she was to her father. both apprentices decide to travel to keyclan with their mentors to keep watch over them, to inform their older half-sister nachobusiness of their father's passing.
✦salmonslip is his mother's only child to mourn her death, but thankfully through his father, he has his half-sister snifflewhimper to lean on and comfort him through the grieving process.
✦spurglow's death hits her brother and father hard, as it is only a few moons after they had lost her mother swooptalon to the same plague, but at least the two toms have each other to lean on for support.

Leafbare has come to a close and snow has begun to melt. Rain is more common which may lead to floods in water-based or low-lying territories.
Prey is only just beginning to return although kittings will run smoother and the chances of queens or kits dying during birth will begin to drop.
Loners, too, are beginning to explore clan territories which makes the odds of finding new cats higher than it otherwise would be.

Thornblaze’s kittens managed to stay a secret from Northstar for a whole few days. It is actually quite impressive considering the fact that Thorn wasn’t necessarily trying to hide them, he just avoided mentioning them to the leader.

Northsatr came over to the nursery for a chat with Owl. The older she-cat was dignified, intelligent and spoke with eloquence that matched her own. Truly the only cat in the clan that North could have a pleasant conversation with. To her surprise, Swoop wasn’t alone. “What’re those?”, she asked with an unpleasant grimace on her face. Owl failed to notice the chill in her voice. “Children of Thornblaze. Look at their little tails and their tiny toesie-woesies. Truly remarkable, are they not?”. The fur on North’s back stood up as her eyebrows narrowed. ‘That scoundrel’, she thought and left the nursery without another word.

‘That absolute fool’, she thought to herself and with a fierce step she walked towards the resting area where Thornblaze could usually be found. Her soft, fluffy feet stomped the ground. “How dare you!”, she yelled as soon as she entered the clearing. “How dare you bring those bastards into my clan without asking my permission first! And more, children of some fle-covered filthy outsider!” Northstar yelled for a while longer, coming closer step by step to Thorn until she stood only a metre away from him. “I bet she was a kittypet.”, she finished, her voice dripping with venom.

Thornblaze didn’t expect that attitude. North wasn’t a very strong cat and he made sure she knew that he could easily defeat her, back when there were just the two of them. Since then she was careful with him and never did anything that could provoke his violence. Until now. What North didn’t know was that Thorn wasn’t an aggressive cat and preferred to solve disputes amicably. He decided to give it a try this time as well. Instead of showing his superior strength he decided to try to worm his way out of the situation. He told her that there was never a rule stating a ban on relationships outside of the clan. In fact, he wasn’t presented with any rules upon joining. Then he quickly changed his tactic because that seemed to only further anger the leader. He explained that the kits’ mother was one of the greatest warriors he’d ever known and that with her genes and their guiding they would grow up to be great assets to the clan. And if they didn’t meet her standards she could chase them away then, but they will because of their fantastic genetics, he swears.

Northstar seemed to calm down, at least slightly. Partially due to his talk and partially because the other cats from the clan heard the commotion and were staring at the two of them. She didn’t mean to lose her composure, but didn’t want to seem weak and a loser of this argument. She warned him that it was a strike on his record and that he would need to look for a new home if he ever made actions that could hurt the clan again. She also said that she will observe the kittens growth and decide for herself whether or not they have potential to be useful clan members in the future.

Then she left. What she really thought was that descendants of a strong warrior would actually be a great asset to the clan, but there was no way she would let Thornblaze know. He also mentioned a very good point - she never really shared proper rules with the members of her quickly growing kingdom. She had a vague idea of what she expected of them, but putting it into proper points was necessary to avoid such situations in the future. She really wished she had a deputy.

She needed to find someone dependable to discuss these subjects with, but before that, there was another matter that she had to take care of. The idea popped in her head fresh like flowers after winter and it was just as beautiful. So easy. So simple and so efficient. And she knew just the cat to help her.

“Nightfall.” Northstar called out to the tom after arriving by a riverbank where he often stayed even when not hunting. “Yes?”, he responded with clear surprise that the leader was addressing him. “What a nice place this is”, she started and without waiting for his input continued “How is your life in the clan?” Nightfall seemed more taken aback with every word. “Um, ok?” “Good, good”, she responded, satisfied with his answer. “You are my loyal knight. A skilled hunter and I dare say you have some extra skills from your life as a filthy…. as a rogue. I need you to prove that loyalty to me and do me a little favour. Just a small thing. Hm?” She smiled sweetly or at least attempted to. The smile looked forced and her eyes clearly said that heads will fall if he dares disagree. “What do you need me to do?” The smile immediately faded away. He was being less cooperative than she expected. Fine, she tried being nice, but now it will be just straight to the point. “I need you to assassinate Thornblaze. He defied me. Made a fool of me in front of the clan. He cannot live, but I don’t want to lower the morale of the other cats so do it outside, quietly. Maybe make it look like an accident. You can do that, right?” A long, silent pause fell between them. His bright green eyes seemed to pierce right through her. When she started wondering whether he was too dumb to understand her he sighed heavily and spoke. “That’s not a good idea, my Queen.” As he expected, her eyes narrowed and brows furred. She was ready to interject, but he stopped her. “Listen. I know you’re not happy with what happened today, but we need Thornblaze. The clan now has four kits to feed along with the queens, medics and all the other cats. We need hunters.” Northstar was still shooting daggers with her eyes, but remained quiet. Perhaps it was his soothing voice, his perfect logic or maybe just the fact that she never heard him talk for so long before that made her listen.

“If you show everyone that you graciously allowed Thorn’s kits to live even after he defied your ruled you will gain in their eyes and they will forget the incident. Establish clear rules and it won’t happen again.”
“Including Zoe that would leave five of us, but she does what she wants so she’s not reliable. That makes four. Gentleman’s hunting technique is waiting for prey to fall into his hands, Jinx is straight up insane and the last fish Songbird caught he released because “it reminded him of someone he used to love”.“

Northstar’s astounded, her eyes wide. ”Dear Starclan, this is madness. Why can’t I have any normal cats in my clan?“ Nightfall shrugs. ”Maybe you should try requesting one.“ North sighs. ”Perhaps, that’s not such a bad idea.“, she says and they both sit in silence for a while, contemplating the matters they just spoke about. Eventually, shifting a little in place, Night breaks the silence. ”Rest assured. I will not speak to anyone about what you asked of me. I enjoy the quiet life of the clan and don’t want to disrupt this peace. It will stay between us.“

North raises her head and looks at Nightfall with a curious look. ”I though you always stayed quiet because you were really stupid, but you’re not that bad. Keep it up and you might rise to the rank of Head Knight.“ She stands up, ready to leave and end their little conspiracy chatter. ”Is that even a real rank?“ Night asks sceptically, his bright green eyes following her silhouette as she starts to walk away. ”It can be“, she whispers with a smirk, leaving him to his thoughts.

Zoe had swings in her plans. One time she stayed on the outskirts of the clan, secretly observing how her sister would deal when left all alone to fend for herself. Other times she would not leave her side for days, sticking to her day and night, worried that something might happen to her precious, little, once lost and now found, sister. All of it had failed and Jinx was stuck on her resolve to be a warrior cat and seemed to enjoy her life more as days passed. “What if I just knock her out and drag her home by the tail…”. Zoe sat still for a moment lost in her thoughts, then jerked awake and noticed Songbird’s surprised face. “I didn’t mean to say that out lout. Now scoot. It’s none of your business.” The tom didn’t leave. “Why don’t you try listening to her wishes? She seems pretty happy as a knight.” He smiled softly, encouraging her to a conversation, but she narrowed her brows. “That’s only because she doesn’t know the life of a warrior!” “Do you?”. Songbird asked quietly. “Go away!” Zoe said and then left herself, not letting Song get another word.
