Postby HEXORCISM » Thu Oct 28, 2021 4:13 am

big support!!

i'd also love to add a better fill bucket perhaps? an ability to expand within the given selection would be great. amazing. or fill based on different,,, requirements? like layer-based or canvas-based if i'm. making any sense in my state of having just woke up bhgvhb

Support all of this. The lasso tool, magic wand tool, and an adjustable bucket fill are the things I’m missing the most on oekaki right now. I use CSP normally and I love how you can define if you want to select/fill based on your current layer only, all layers, or just selected layers. Also the fill bucket sensitivity, what I believe the newest suggestion was talking about, where you can change how much is filled by adjusting what it defines as a different color(ie. if it’s high sensitivity it will count partially transparent pixels on a lineart as different from the fully saturated ones, giving a cleaner fill). Coloring by hand always leaves some stray pixels and I miss being able to select outside the lineart, expand by 1-2 pixels, invert and then fill.

Also this isn’t as big of a deal, but I’d love if there was a way to add premade shapes like stars, hearts, ect either as it’s own tool or as a brush option. It’s pretty standard in most art programs so hopefully it’s doable in oekaki.

other suggestions for keybinds! the left and right arrow keys rotating the canvas, im so used to this in firealpaca and when i decide to work in Oekaki i have to remind myself theres a tool for that. x)

Perhaps the biggest thing is that id love to see the pen pressure size corrected. I dont know if its just a "me" thing or if others experience it too but when i set my pen size, if i press all the way down i end up with a stroke thats twice the size of what i set it to, other art programs dont do that and it makes maintaining good line start / stop tips twice as difficult. (example, i set the brush to size 5, and will get a size 10 brush stroke if i press the pen all the way down)

I have this issue as well, and I’ve noticed for me atleast it depends on what browser I’m using. I also can’t draw curves really fast without it looking like a hexagon for whatever reason. I assume this is a Java problem based on that, but it’s be nice if there was a way to keep oekaki consistent through all browsers. I have 0 coding knowledge so idk if this would be possible, but could chibipaint be moved off of Java and onto a newer program?

Support! As someone used to other art programs Oekaki just... doesn't feel intuitive or very user friendly, and these suggestions would help mitigate that at least a bit.

will add the premade shapes! Would def be super neat as well as helpful! I also agree on the program not feeling the most intuitive!

I just recently started using Oekaki with my tablet (Lenovo Tab P11 Plus), so all drawing is done on-screen.

I have a glove to help with palm rejection while drawing, however since Oekaki is browser-based, it does not have any additional software for palm rejection (that I know of). Because of this, I am constantly accidentally changing layers or hitting buttons that I don't mean to.

Unfortunately, turning the tablet landscape mode isn't an option for me here, since whenever I do, all the toolbars get wonky and cannot be moved or interacted with. (using Chrome).

And so I suggest a toggle button to show/hide the toolbars, layers, colors, etc. There isn't enough screen real estate to move these tools around in most cases, so being able to show/hide them at will would be a tremendous help.
