Petition to have "kitsunes" renamed to onis

no matter what staff does, it's not like it's official either. they can't just force or encourage the general public to stop referring to the 2013 store dogs "Kitsunes" as some else. People are still going to refer to them as Kitsunes because it's the first thing that'll come to mind, and has been referred to as such ever since their release. That's like trying to force the skelebun, drink/eat me/ or either cerbs as something else. You can't change the design they were based on, as they were still based on Kitsune masks. I don't really see this personally affecting anybody or getting them seriously offended because anybody can refer to whatever pet by whatever name they want to, so you can just refer to them as whatever YOU want, but that doesn't mean everybody else has to follow.

Edit: Just want to mention that I don't really even see people mention the 2020 kitsune foxes as much as the 2013 kitsunes as they've been around longer and are actually considered to be worth 1-1.5 MA. So it would just be really confusing change for the trading community too. Easy solution would for you guys to just refer to them as however you want, and letting others refer to it as Kitsunes. It does no damage.

edited to add: i do not know if anyone who has participated so far is japanese and will not make that assumption - however it'd be nice to hear from actually japanese users on if this is even something that bothers them or not.

This is just my personal opinion but changing the name to me at least wont really have much of an effect since its very unlikely that the entire community is just going to stop calling them kitsunes and start calling them onis ykno? People call pets whatever they want really, I've never heard that pets have official names (unless I'm mistaken) so thus there really isn't much of a need to "officially" rename them to onis, you could just call them that yourself same as other players will keep calling them kitsunes ^^;;

I agree with most things said so far- especially that we should hear from people that are Japanese to gauge if this is a bigger issue or not.

I don’t think this community will be persuaded otherwise, though. Mods cannot give warnings or bans because someone called a pet by an old name/not using the full name (“kitsune-inspired store pets”). The community is rooted deep and that’s going to be hard to change unless more people express concern over the name for good reason.

Regarding your initial solution of an official name change, I personally think the patterns on the mask represent the kitsune masks better than oni masks. Hence them being officially named after it, so I do not agree with your solution to rename it as such.
