New Rule: DNI (Do Not Interact) Lists are Banned

what about flashy/bright lights? are people allowed to say "please dont interact if you have flashy/bright lights/colours"? or is that considered a dni?
some people are really sensitive to bright colors, flashing lights, etc. is there something they can do about it? (for example, people who have kidcore themed profiles or hypercore/rainbowcore)

Profiles that could trigger epilepsy or cause harm to another user are not permitted on CS and should be reported, so this is not necessary to state on your profile.

The 18+ boards are for conversations that tend to be more serious or mature in nature, but nothing in the board should be inappropriate for a child to read. People should not be having conversations on CS, in the forums or in PMs, that would be unsafe for a minor to participate in. I can understand not wanting to form close relationships with minors if you are an adult and vice-versa, but the safety of our underage users is more important. Stating that you are a minor on your profile makes you an easy target for people who look to prey on minors.

Completely agree. Safespaces of kids are more important. If we had every kid put their age on here, the creepy people would seek them out. Keeping ages anonymous is the safest route. You cannot be on a mostly minor website, that doesn't allowed 18+ content, and expect to never have a minor speak with you, or discuss something with you, or interact.

If there is something that isn't already against cs rules to have in your profile, that is threatening you; either block, or if it IS against CS rules, block and report. CS already doesn't allow threatening behavior, so having a DNI of something that isn't allowed on the site anyways is pointless.

but not all things that are disrespectful are threatening, and not necessarily clear from their profiles. like if you were to start a conversation, even a friendship with someone via dms and then find out they don't respect people like yourself, eg anti neopronouns or xenogenders or endo systems etc that would be rather hurtful and I think dnis helped to reduce that risk

Also... I was thinking about it and does this rule also apply to people who use sentences like "anti-hoarders"; "do not support hoards"; "do not trade with me if you hoard" etc?

DNI lists may protect the one using the DNI list but it harms others that may glance upon it like myself. There's a rather common one on them that happens to associate with childhood trauma I've had and I get the displeasure of being reminded and I go through a DID flip if you will every single time I'm exposed to it.

I'm not the only one either.

It seems selfish to me that people would rather keep their DNI lists for themselves rather than thinking of all the people they hurt with them, minors included.

Personally, I agree with this rule. While everyone is expected to show respect to others, strangers on the internet are not responsible for your triggers. The block button is there for the specific purpose of preventing people you deem harmful to your mental and emotional wellbeing from interacting with you or your content.

{agreed. Also, if it's something that personal and important, I would expect it to be brought up in casual conversation. "I use x pronouns" is something you're going to say early on. It's not like political views that you only get into if you seek out that topic on purpose. And if someone ends up disagreeing with you on something like that, if it's that severe, you can block them. You don't need to explain or even have an absolutely perfect reason to block someone.}

It honestly strikes me as both weird and selfish that you a) are okay with typing out and looking at your own triggers on your DNI list and b) don't believe that you are harming others around you with the same triggers who have to see it if they look at your DNI. I don't think it's okay that people expect everyone to respect their problems when they take no action to do the same thing for others. Removing DNI lists is the easiest way to remove all these issues.}

morally bad/explicit/antagonistic things are already disallowed on cs. if youre unfortunate to be triggered by something like a fandom, you can't expect everyone to know that ahead of time. something like "please don't talk to me about [x]!" would be more appropriate. nobodys in charge of your mental health, and i know firsthand what its like to have obscure triggers that i see everywhere, but in a context like chicken smoothie DNIs are doing more harm than good. its just a part of life we have to accept and talk to our loved ones & professionals about.
