i just wanted to add my opinion, i don't have a dni list but i can see both the reasons for having them and the reasons for banning them.
on the one side, while they can help people understand things you don't want mentioned to think about/to be brought up, or to see on people's profiles, i have seen dni's when going to interact with people and seeing some of the things on their lists themselves as made me uncomfortable as it's taken me back to my own trauma.
and then they can also be quite exclusionary as someone mentioned earlier, no one has the same beliefs, likes and dislikes, but to say you don't want people interacting with you due to those things, especially when they might not have brought up anything to do with it anyway can be quite unfair.
overall i just think that whatever solution we reach on this topic isn't going to please everyone, but we have to at least try to trust the admins who are trying to get the best possible solution to this rule

Thank you for this change! It was getting kind of stressfulseeing something related to our identity or sense of self on DNIs. I'm kind of relieved we aren't the only ones who seemed to have some problem with that, and even on other sites DNIs just get uncomfortable.

I'm kind of also glad because we also really didn't know how to treat DNIs like do we not reply on the same forum thread or in forum games or is it just sending trades/PMs? And what if you're blocked and can't see a DNI anyway? CS has a good blocking system in our experience when it comes to trying to avoid certain users and is probably more effective to have users use.

Thank you for this new rule!
Also... I was thinking about it and does this rule also apply to people who use sentences like "anti-hoarders"; "do not support hoards"; "do not trade with me if you hoard" etc?

Non English speaker here just want to make sure I've understood DNi correctly (first time I've heard the term like ever)

DNI is for something traumatic or for certain people to not interact with you?

But is it the same as if I write like
"don't trade me a 2011 for a 2020 because they're not the same value"?
Because I feel like that is sort of a DNi because I'm asking people to not do it (?)

Also will people if they don't remove DNIs get asked to remove them before their trading rules or wherever they have it is removed?
Always looking for trades!

DNI means "do not interact" and is for telling people with certain mindsets or identities to not talk to you.
I'm wondering this too but i doubt normally worded trade rules belong into this category unless it's like "don't trade me if you're TERF/nazi/etc."

dni (dont interact) lists are something to indicate a group of people not to interact with you- for example, if you say "don't interact if youre into [blank]", that would count as a dni statement

however its hardly able to be attached to the trading system, trading a 2011 for a 2020 is just common knowledge that its bad ^^" asking someone not to do something simple isnt necessarily a dni, its just a request

basically, if its just an action you dont want someone to do like trading you something unfair, its not necessarily a dni kind of thing!

I don’t believe that was allowed in the first place

idk if this was answered but it seems reasonable to me and it doesn’t feel like a DNI to me, it’s a polite request.

By the way this was answered actually! Here
Just letting you know as I was curious about it as well.

Also I do wonder about eyestrain images as well like someone brought up in the previous page.

Right but if we also have to enforce the same rules on linked Discord servers this is an issue. While sure on CS, DMs can be moderated but on Discord they are not. It also doesn’t reveal if anyone is a minor or not, it just lets minors know not to contact someone which is in their own best interest. Asking someone to essentially shut out the (adult portion) community, which is the main part of the game by making any contact set to friends only instead isn’t a reasonable alternative.

{huh, I definitely want to see what staff says about this case in particular, considering the number of trade rules expressing both anti hoarder and anti anti hoarder sentiments. [also if I need to update stuff in my trade thread lmao] I know especially in the last few months - year or so "I don't support hoarding" has shown up more and more around the site-- I never really thought about it falling into the category, though it does bother me to see it. As nice as it would be to have this ability removed I think not being able to dictate your own trades in this sense would do more harm than good? Like I said, I want to hear from staff on this one xD}

some people need to realize that this rule isn't an attack or any sort of statement on DNIs as a whole. on other platforms, DNIs can be very helpful! but on a site like chicken smoothie, they become redundant and understandably hard to moderate. we already have content rules & rules on subjects that cannot be mentioned here, and moderators that (in my opinion) do a good job at what they do. the efficacy of DNIs on chicken smoothie specifically should be considered here. lets think about it: on a site like tumblr and instagram, you can open someone's profile and instantly be bombarded by a visual myriad of something you might not want to see. if somebody interacts with you on chicken smoothie, you may be unlucky to see a profile picture of something that makes you uncomfortable, but nothing morally reprehensible since we already have content rules & filtration. people on chicken smoothie dont make profiles dedicated to one interest like sites such as instagram or tumblr. so then, what purpose do they serve on a site like this? a "just in case" to make you feel a little more safe?

another thing to bring up is the safety of younger members. a lot of these lists go on to mention violent, explicit, or morally reprehensible groups that are inappropriate to bring up on a website with many younger users. we already have rules against bringing up these subjects on the forum, so what difference does it make if its on a seperate list? lets say we lived in a society where people who liked oranges were objectively bad people and did bad things (they aren't, this is just an example) and did things youd want to protect children from. bringing up people who don't like oranges (in this scenario) and exposing children to that group of people could be highly dangerous to them, should they go and look it up and be exposed to explicit content. listing these kinds of people out is unnecessary and dangerous for curious kids. same goes for listing out fandoms that often have explicit material in them, same thing could happen. it backfires greatly and is not a good idea

carrd culture (as i like to call it) has encouraged people to share way too much personal information, putting it on display for anyone to see again is not safe!!! its also rude & uncomfortable to make introductions about yourself that include very personal parts of your identity, mental health, political beliefs, etc. these kinds of interactions just dont happen normally, and there is a reason for that. people are unfortunately malicious, even if you dont know that at first, and will use these things against you. tell these things to people you know & trust, don't make it publicly accessible. it may be hard to understand with how normalized this stuff is nowadays, but it's just not safe. be smart on the internet folks, and don't put every detail about yourself onto a carrd. this ALSO includes triggers. don't tell strangers your triggers. tell them to people you know youre going to be interacting with ahead of time. strangers can and will use that personal info against you.
