I love this and I couldn't have said it better myself nicole. it really says something when almost 99% of people I talk to or see talking about cs trading talk about how hard, discouraging, and outright horrible it is. I don't think doing a better job on looking at possible scammers/ninjas and punishing them will solve all the problems we have, but it will be one of the biggest. it's really hard to compete with people who pay little to nothing for their pets and people who over value their pets to the heavens. it's almost a guarantee of having a love hate relationship with cs for users at this point.

It is not another users job to inform others of the value of their pet. I have not finished reading, I just wanted to point this out.

What I meant is when a scamming user sends a trade, it is not their job to tell you the value of your pets, and that is how so many people get scammed, but you can't force people to tell others about value they probably won't understand.

they don’t need to inform the other player but they OBVIOUSLY know they’re making the other person overpay. that’s literally how scamming works. common sense

I don't think staff will do anything about this issue specifically (i'm guessing this is heading towards a lock already) but I think things can be done to prevent people falling prey to scammers and ninja trades, like making the existence of help threads more obvious, creating a tutorial, idk just anything really that tells users, "hey, this site is heavily based around user-made values. here's how to navigate that."

I would want this to include common signs you're getting scammed, instead of avoiding the issue like it doesn't exist and only addressing it on december 18th.

I suppose not, but the only reason I wouldn't do so is if I know the player isn't new and is overpaying of their own free will. It's just not right to accept a trade knowing the other player is completely new and has no idea what they're doing. Common decency SHOULD be a requirement.

This just sounds like you're supporting scamming.

I agree so much. I’ve been on CS for quite awhile now, taking a few hiatuses in between and scammers are still a huge issue. It definitely needs to be taken more seriously rather than just saying “users value their pets differently” and moving on without solving the issue. Yes, users can value their pets however they want but morally speaking, it’s wrong to do so especially when they target new players or players who are still learning values. If you go to the “VR & OMGSR Successful Trades” thread, you’ll notice a few players who are pushing demand by either valuing their pets 2x than they’re actually worth or posting bids that are clearly overpay which I feel like shouldn’t be posted there so people don’t think the value for a certain pet has gone up when in reality, they just received an overpay trade. It’s become infuriating watching known scammers still being active and not being punished especially when it states in the rules that scamming is not allowed. It definitely needs to be acknowledged and at least attempt to do something about it before people start becoming tired of CS due to these particular people.

As for ninjaing it happens far too often with no repercussions, it is just as bad to be intentionally quiet about the true value of a pet while offering something nowhere near right to prey on those who are unaware of the true value of their pet.

I believe there should be more warnings about this, I am aware staff are doing their best to prevent this but maybe there needs to be a change with how we are going about it?

honestly massive support here, I see way too many people blatently sending unfair offers only to then skyrocket that pets value for their own benefit.. trading has become WAY too competitive to the point where so many users are resorting to foul play just to get ahead.

i support this whole-heartedly. there's plenty of new users that i've seen get scammed out of their pets yet, in the scammer's trade rules they state no trade backs. trading on this site is difficult as is and the site definitely punishes (not literally) users who don't know what things are worth. it also doesn't help that users purposefully inflate values to users that don't know any better. this site needs better reinforcement on its scamming policy because when users are literally unable to voice out that someone is a scammer, there is a problem.
