SORRY FOR THE INCONVIENCE. (1/16/22)
I've been active on this site ever since 2020 and taken a few hiatuses about twice, but something I have noticed that seems to be something that is a MASSIVE issue is scamming, and ninjaing. It doesn't even seem to be handled properly, and users who get away with it don't seem to get into trouble. I've had to warn many users who have privately DM'D me on here, and from discord to foe/avoid certain users who have sent them really unfair trades because it's just straight up unfair to them, and it's quite obvious that the other user knows because they have omgsrs, and have many successful trades on threads and such.
So, let's get into something I've noticed. I've noticed many users being banned for sharing an IP with fellow family members, because it may seem like they're "sharing accounts" & "cheating", but that doesn't seem to be the case half of the time. So if that's considered cheating, wouldn't scamming a user who is unaware of their pet's true value also be considered cheating? That is not right, nor is it profiting in the correct way.
The first thing on the CS Trading Rules literally is:
"Do not scam other players.
You should never intentionally mislead another player about the value, true date, or identity of pets, items, or C$."
However, this is exactly what other users are doing! Something that really just puts me off is this: "Unless your situation is covered above and is considered scamming, trades cannot be reversed later if you change your mind or find out that the trade was unfair to you.". Isn't finding out a trade that was unfair to you afterwards scamming? Because the player didn't inform you about the values of the pets? Staff SHOULD reverse these trades because honestly this would honestly just discourage me from continuing to play on this site after such a bad trading experience, especially knowing that I actually had something valuable and later found out I could've gotten way more than what I was actually offered but the other person in the trade led me on to believe that their side was fair, or that they were overpaying for my pet when it reality it was extremely unfair to me.
You could argue with the fact that "Oh you could've posted it on a thread asking about the worth of your pet." "Oh you could've asked about the trade on the Is This A Fair Trade Thread?, or checked successful trades for your pets to see what it goes for!" But it's like, what do you do when you don't even know those threads exist? You're new to CS and it's your first Dec 18th and you weren't active for weeks, or you're actually coming back from a hiatus and you want to get into trading but have no clue about these threads because it's obviously not something that comes straight to your mind first thing? You shouldn't be ashamed for accepting a trade that was unfair to you because you had no clue about your pets value because you weren't aware of it and staff shouldn't just be like "Oh sorry, the trade was already done and you just didn't know it was unfair to you until afterwards." That is NOT behavior I want to expect from staff, I would rather them actually be helpful and try to talk to both users to see if they can work something out and try to get the pets back to the original owners or at least reverse the trade
It is not up to the user to learn our rarities and just "avoid" getting ninja'd or scammed. Some users may not understand how trading on this site works, and therefore have to ask others or when they do ask others they aren't sure of what to make of it. There needs to be rules put into place to do MORE about scamming and ninjaing, especially since it's such a huge concern around December 18th and I saw a lot of staff members posting about it and warning users to be careful, but that still won't stop people from getting ninja'd. Especially those coming from another site and wanting to offsite their pets and just having the lowest offer for your extremely valuable pet.
Something I've seen staff say is that it's hard to tell whether the other player had the intention of scamming, or ninjaing a user out of a valuable pet. It doesn't take longer than 5 minutes to check all of the player's posts, threads, trades, pets, and what's on their trading rules to see if they actually do have valuable pets, and whether they could've properly paid for the pet they scammed off another user. I just don't like being censored about scamming, and scammers on this site. I want to help out more users but it sucks that I can't outright say "Hey!! Be careful of this user because they've scammed this and that person." Wouldn't you want users to feel like they can be safe on this site? You wouldn't want users leaving this site after figuring out they got scammed. It's just really disappointing to see how far scamming has gotten and it's just way too much to this point and really disappointing to see that I've just lost interest in CS and have started trading CS pets for FR because it seems like a way better environment over there. The trading environment has just gotten toxic as time has past, and it's something I've seen other users bring up.
+ Just a little side note, it shouldn't just be warnable if the other user claims that their pet is worth more/less than what they claim. Scammers are also users on this site and can read rules and just easily get away with it by just not even mentioning their values and such. It's probably how they've been able to just get away with this too!
I'd rather this topic not get shut down, or closed right away because this is a SERIOUS issue on this site and would rather staff not just shrug it away and link me to the rules saying that there's really nothing that can be done because I seriously believe that something can be done and I just want this site to become a better environment overall, especially for trading. I want newer/returning users to come onto this site and not have to worry about being scammed, or getting mislead about values.
Thank you if you do take your time to read this. Sorry if none of this makes sense as it's just me rambling and my English really sucks as it's my second language, but I hope you can understand. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in your replies.
