Cut off adopting on the 18th dec

Holli spoke to me and I found a fault in my idea, people will still be able to trade the scam after the 18th x.x

Even putting a day-long lock on trading wouldn't really help, I don't think. That would just mean people would still be able to adopt on the 18th and would just have to wait until the next day to do their scam trading. I'm personally all for the original idea of locking normal monthly pet adopts on the 18th. Yes, it would have the potential to upset or scare off newer users, but I think the benefits outweigh the risks in this case. Especially if there was a message on the front page, or maybe if there was a way to send out automated messages to accounts made on the 18th, that says "we're sorry you can't adopt today, but please wait until tomorrow, you can adopt pets then" and just give a list of reasons why adopts are closed for that day.

Yeah it's better to just let them know they can adopt tomorrow. I agree. That wouldn't scare them off, some sites even make you grind currency for a few days before you can adopt so this isn't that harsh

But I adpot normal litter pets on special days like dec 18th or oct 31 or something along them lines. I don't scam people and never will so it seems Abit unfair I can't adpot my litters on funny/cool dates.

You have to understand, though, that you're just one person among very many. Just because you personally don't use this method to scam, doesn't mean others don't also. Sometimes sacrifices must be made for the good of everyone. This is just a very minor inconvenience, I think, and the benefit is less potential for scamming, which has become a very big issue as of late. Besides, if you wanted to adopt pets on a special date in December, why not choose Christmas eve or Christmas day? Those are equally special days.

I'm not saying that this would completely stop scams. I'm just saying it would be one big step in trying to curtail it. Please just understand where we're coming from with this. Like I said, it's a minor inconvenience at worst.

This is actually how I lost my very first list pet, on my super old account which is deleted now :( so I VERY MUCH support this idea.
Luckily I got mad enough to report the scammer to the mods and they reversed the trade, but I got lucky- a lot of people I know didn’t get their trades reversed when they got scammed.

Sorry but no support, many people adopt pets on the 18th without intention to use those pets to scam, and it wouldn’t be fair on those people. If new users were encouraged to make sure that they are happy with trades involving rereleases, and maybe additional measures were put in place (example: a red banner at the top of the trading page like in the Oekaki forums), it would help a lot more.

Oh my gosh, this is horrible and I had no idea this was happening! Being someone who came exactly on December 18th in 2017, I understand how this can be frustrating. Full support! Maybe instead not allowing to adopt, maybe if you're a newer person you get a warning message of some sort? (Like, be aware that you're trading a Dec 18th pet for a regular adopt) Just throwing around some ideas that may get around (completely valid) worries!
