Hi guys… our trailer unfortunately caught fire yesterday… we lost everything….

Beds, clothes, our one cat lunar and our beagle copper…. One cat made it out alive and she spent some time at the emergency vets. She’s still a bit groggy but wants my constant loves…

I was home alone with my 3 year old son… it was the scariest experience in my entire life…

Rest easy copper. We miss you.

@Aura. : im at a loss for words, what a nightmare. thank god that you and your son are okay, but awful to hear about your pets. im so so sorry! i can't even imagine how painful and traumatizing that experience must be. i wish you and your family the best, i hope you have a support system to fall back on?

Thankfully we do. And I’m beyond grateful I had my husband take our 7 month old daughter to pick up my step daughter from school… I don’t know if I would have been able to make it out…

Went back to the trailer yesterday it was completely gone… everything… 💔😭

Copper and our cat lunar were cremated.. we’ll get them back tomorrow..

I called copper to me and by the time he got off the couch flames were up to the ceiling.. he booked it to the other side of the trailer before I could grab him… by the time I had our other dog tiger and my son outside it almost hit us in the face.. within the short few seconds the living room was completely engulfed… there was nothing I could do 💔 I’m so thankful yet so heartbroken..

As a weimaraner fanatic, I wouldn't recommend them for service work. The rest of what you want to do with one sounds great and like you'd be an awesome fit, but they're not service breeds for a reason. Weims, like all bird dogs, are absolutely insane. I say that in the best way possible as both of my heartbreeds are bird dogs, lol. High drive, high energy, needs an outlet and needs one now. They're awesome family dogs as long as they have that outlet. With the high drive I don't think they'd do well with public access at all.

I’d love to own a Weim and I may end up still getting one just due to wanting to do sports. I think they’re absolutely right up my alley in that way, so I do agree with you there. Although, with proper socialization from the start, I think they may possibly do fine with public access. I’ll have to do more research! :)

It's not an issue of socialization re:public access. Like I said, it has to do with drive. Drive isn't something you can socialize or train out of a dog. I think trying to do public access with a dog like a weimaraner would just be setting that dog up for failure.

Yeah .. I am going to be the mean one here - Just because you like that a dog is 'sporty' doesn't necessarily mean you should get one. It sounds like you have done some research which is a great start - but do more. -Maybe try to find someone with a weim near you and spend some time with it (More than an afternoon). Hunting breeds in general - though 'sporty' are more drive than activity in general base. They don't make great agility prospects. I own a hound - trust me, she wouldn't be a candidate for wither service work or agility - even though she could run about 15 miles a day. Socialization is good .. but hun' you can't beat genetics, especially in the hunting/working breeds.

They're vocal, they’re busy and independent. Also, getting into agility and other sport may be harder than you think it is. Do you know where you are going to be doing those sports - if not I would dang sure find that out before you get a high energy/drive dog. A lot of the time the good sports facilities may have a waiting list - and most won't even let you start a dog until it's a year - year & a half ..

Hi!! I am considering getting a standard poodle as a service animal! Hopefully I am allowed here. I learn so many things about them, I've been prepping materials for about 6 months for a puppy and have talked to some amazing breeders to look for my prospect ☆○☆

Welcome to the spoo family. I’ll be getting mine come winter 2022 or spring 2023. Definitely make sure your breeders dogs at least have Chic numbers with OFA and are using sort sort of puppy raising methods for picking out your puppy! I would also hope they are tilting their dogs in sports or confo. Are you planning to go with a solid or multicolor breeder for your prospect ?

I was not trying to be rude. Maybe you do more research - and find that Weims really are the breed for you, and that would be great. But wanting one just because it is sporty is not enough reason to get a dog like a weim. They’re hard dogs. Really good dogs , but dogs you really have to pretty much change your life for. If you want that, and think you are ready for that …

I would start, as I said by finding some in your area- find a good mentor. C:
