The plane ride was boring. My mum was chatting away at me the whole time, even when I said I wanted to go to sleep. Moving to England, oh what joy. Why the hell does this have to happen? I was perfectly fine in my old school. Lot's of friends, lot's of boys, lot's of good grades. Life in America was the best time of my life. I built friendships, a good reputation, an amazing boyfriend. Was there since I was a baby, and I wasn't too keen on moving. It was my 13th birthday and your mum shouts you out of bed, pushes you into a car and drives the whole family to the airport.
"It'll be great, don't you see? An amazing opportunity." My mum mumbled as she nudged the pillow my head was lying on.
"Yeah yeah, okay mum. Can't you just give it a rest? I'm tired."
"Ooh! Look at this picture. Your school looks amazing from this angle." She said loudly, ignoring me totally.
I sighed and rolled over.
"Honey! Did you know there's a swimming pool there? Wow!"
"Mum, shut up. I don't even like swimming." I grumbled.
"Oh look at th-"
A big bleep came from the ceiling above us. Everyone looked up, and a woman came through the door at the bottom of the corridor.
"Now everybody, we are landing in 5 minutes, I repeat 5 minutes. Please keep your seat-belts firmly attached and remain calm. All parents please keep your eyes on your children when leaving the plane and the airport. Snacks are at the top, please have a lovely time at your destination."
"Well that was classy." Mum laughed, nudging me as if I was a 2 year old kid.
I felt like slapping her. Hard.
