Meh, here's a random pairing! (YESSSS Finally got a Tess dragon to put up in a story!!! Thanks my sis. You know whos you are.)

The sharp hands/paws of the dragon stroke the young child gently. It's head swayed in the breeze, as the tail of the majestic creature kept the child warm. "Grow, my child." The creature hummed, in a tune. "Grow my child, dont stay this way," It sang. "Grow, my child, grow up and fly away." This dragon creature was not known of having wings, but it supposed as since all of it's brothers or sisters had wings, it would too someday. It stroked the child very gently, as gently as possible. The child's blanket revealed nothing of its true self.

A dark black dog, accented with white steps up to a large plateau. A pack of dogs is gathered there, spread out and lazing around in the midsummer sun. He keeps walking up until his snout is level with the smooth, rocky terrain. That's when she appeared.
BAM!
The next thing he knows, he's tumbling headfirst down the slope leading up to the pack. He gets up, very disoriented, to find who just slammed into him. His eyes find a single female, slightly built, dark tan with what seems to be magenta sparkles accenting her back. Her eyes give her a maniac look, brows furrowed and eyes narrowed nastily.
"Oi! What're you doing, moron? This is OUR territory!" She demands, a bark ringing in the air around them. The entire pack has gone eerily silent.
The female continues to glare down at the male, whose ears are back and stubby tail is down.
"I...I was hoping to get some directions." He says, gaze darting from side to side.
The female glares down. "Yeah, sure." She rolls her eyes. "That's what they all say."
The male looks up, genuinely curious. "What? What do you mean?"
She scoffs. "You very well know. You'd best be on your way 'less you want to be turned into fresh dog meat." She bares her teeth in a threatening way and

"You've had a miscarriage."

The four little words nearly broke my heart in two. As I put my head down in between my hands, I felt my body began to shake and shiver uncontrollably. Violent spasms racked me as I sobbed and sobbed.

She would have been the most beautiful baby girl in the entire world. Full of life, always laughing, eyes sparkling ... I had had so many dreams for her.

It was all over now.

She was dead, never to take her first breath of air, never to smile or laugh or live.

As I continued to cry, I felt all of my hope bleed out until there was nothing left, nothing left but the love I had once had for my beautiful baby girl.

As the mama bird pecked at her egg, her motions got more and more frantic.

Unlike most birds, she had only laid a single egg. A single egg that would never hatch. A baby bird that would never wake up.

She nudged the egg, but it merely rolled back into position. The mama bird began to cry out, singing a song of sorrow and loss.

She continued to sit on her egg and move it around her small nest, confused and sad. She bowed her head and a single tear rolled from her black eye, down her beak, and dropped on the egg.

As I walked along the forest behind my house, tears welled up in my eyes yet again. She was all I could think about.

Thinking of all the plans and hopes and dreams I had had for my daughter, my little girl, my precious baby ... every thought only increased my misery.

Suddenly, I stopped. I stood still and closed my eyes as I listened to the song of a bird, hidden somewhere in the tree above me.

The melody was heart-breaking and I knew in my heart that this amount of sorrow could only be coming from another mother who had suffered a terrible loss.

A single black feather fell from the tree, and as I picked it up, the mama bird continued to sing her loss as tears fell from my face.

the shadow{m} XxX the spotlight{f}

"Opposites among thy I reach, towards the light, love need not a breach."
Opposites attract. The saying became true to the shadow tonight. For out on the stage, always the lead of every preformance at the theater, danced the spotlight, beautiful poetry flowing from her soul.
"Love? I have heard not of such a thing, for I have been somber far too long."
The shadow knew he needed her. But he was a thing that lurked in the shadows, far from the center of attention, skimming the edges of very existance. The spotlight was the backbone of all life; She kept everything alighted and peaceful. She was the most important thing that roamed the heavens.
"Thou art my necessity, thou art my desire. Thou art the air I breathe, thou art the blood that runs through I."
If only she knew how true, how painfully true, this was to the shadow.
"Opposites, in love. Like a dark raven courting a brightening dove."
The shadow of blackness. The raven of dark. The spotlight of sun. The dove of bright. It was like this story were written to be addressed to the couple that would never be.
"At first, thou hadn't a clue of I. I hadn't a clue of thou. But together, we are thy strongest bind."
How he wished. How he dreamed to be dancing out there with the spotlight, to sway to the beat of the music played by silver chiming flutes. How he longed to be an entity of light, a being of the heavens instead of a being of darkness and death.
"Thou shalt not change for I, my love, and I shalt not change for thee. Thy cannot change one's self, for thee and I shalt never be one."
Was she trying to explain her and the shadow's situation through the fine wording of Shakespeare?
"I am light, thou are darkness. Opposites whom will never experiance the touch of the other, nor the embrace of ourselves, nor feel the merge of us into one. And so I bid a due to thee, I love thee, but we can never be us, and so we shall stay individual we's."
The curtain fell. The crowd uproared in applause. The shadow lurked in the corners, longing to speak to the spotlight.
"Well done, miss. Such raw emotion... You sounded as if you were explaining your life!"
Oh, but wasn't she explaining his?
"It's the oddest thing, but I feel as if I was."
And so the spotlight walked past the shadow, and the two remained to co-exist with the light having no knowledge, no emotion, towards the ever-present shadow.

The woman stood in the room, hunched against the wall, hot sticky tears streaming down her cheeks. The only sound was the quiet humming of the machines and her crying. The man walked up to her, his eyes brimming with tears as well. "Sapphira- it's okay. We already have a beautiful daughter. Felicity." The woman shook her head no, and gingerly wiped tears off of her face. "Felicity could have had a playmate- we could have gone on family vacations with her. Felicity could help feed her, play patty-cake with her Leo." The man gave up the struggle to fight the tears, and let them drip out of his eyes. "I... I'm sorry, Sapphira."

Sapphira smiled coldly. "It's not your fault."

The following night the woman delivered the lifeless baby.

"I'll love you, forever and always." The woman whispered, brushing a single lock of thin whispy hair out of it's eyes.

"Forever and always."

Alli was cornered by the beast. Trapped. With the snap of a match, the breath seemingly slipped from her.

Alli awoke, bound by a chain, in a dark lair with murmurs and echoes.
The creature that'd trapped her emerged from the shadows. He wasn't so beastly looking after all, he looked misunderstood, but a bit evil. He snickered.
"I'm Volcanic. Call me Vol." he said, adding emphases to the nickname.
"Yeah, whatever. Let me free." Alli protested, yanking at the chain.
"Maybe." Vol snickered. "Maybe?" Alli asked, cocking one eyebrow. "Maybe." he responded with a smirk.
"Okay. What do you want?" Alli responded, flicking her tail over her paws.
"A partner in crime." Vol said, fluffing his wings. "Crime?" Alli said with a cock of her head.
"Yes, crime. Kidnapping." Vol said to her, his clawed feet tapping the ground as he jumped onto a table.
"Fine." Alli said, sighing. She was surprised when Vol released her and beckoned her to follow him through the lair. Alli trotted to keep up with him, his long legs carried him faster than she walked.
"This here, is where I keep the matches." Vol said, opening the door to the room, showing her around.
"Cool." Alli said, eager to see the other places of his lair.
