I've made a really hard decision. My beautiful cat Misty is being put to sleep this coming Tuesday. She would be 20 years old at the end of February 2022.
I made the decision because I don't want her suffering, she's been going to the toilet where ever she is and she's been getting thinner it seems by the day, and at near 20 years old I don't want her to be poked and prodded at for tests to see what is wrong. She's also got arthritis, she doesn't see very well anymore. She no longer likes a brush or to have her fur clipped. She's still eating and drinking. As mentioned though I just don't want her to suffer.
Misty was a guide cat to my dog Ike that went blind before passing some years ago now, he was a small dog so she'd lean into his shoulder if he was going to bump into something or trip down a step.
I have many good memories of her. It's going to be a tough 3 days leading up to her appointment.

My Birthday 7th May

Okay, I need some advice. My youngest cat, Pumpkin, has somehow managed to develop mats on her lower back, right above her tail. I'm not sure how, and though I did notice when they started, I wasn't able to brush them out without risking having my hands scratched to high heaven. She absolutely abhors being brushed. I suppose that's partly my fault, as I never brushed her when she was a kitten since she's a shorthair and I didn't think she would need it as much. Now, the mats are to the point that they can't be salvaged. I just need to shave them out. But that poses a bit of a problem. I sincerely doubt that she'd like a shaver, and I don't know if I can just cut them out with hair clippers since, as I said, she's a shorthair and the mats are close to the skin. I also don't want to subject a poor, unsuspecting groomer to the potential trauma of a psycho-cat unleashing her fury. So, the burden falls to me. I just want to know, what can I do to protect myself and her from being hurt in the process? And how can I best hold her down? I might be able to have my dad help me hold her, but she's really not fond of anyone else aside from me, and even then our relationship is tenuous as best.

I'm not sure, but it doesn't really seem like it. I mean, she's kind of a bully when it comes to feeding time, but other than that she doesn't really seem too interested. She doesn't even like treats or cooked chicken.

This happened to my old cat when he got too chubby to be able to groom those spots himself. If that might be the case with yours, you should look into addressing the underlying issue because it isn't a problem that will just go away on its own.
Meanwhile you will have to find a way to help her groom those spots. You can try to teach her to not mind it (touch the spot, give treat as a reward if she doesn't react badly, basically just teach her that touching the spot = reward), but cats can be difficult. One method you could try is wrapping her in a towel and only uncovering her back while you do the grooming/shaving, but then you should definitely have someone help you hold her. A breeder might be a good idea, as they are often experienced in dealing with anxious animals, but you could also try bringing her to your vet and see if they can help, too. I've heard of cats being put under anesthesia for severe matting, but they might also be able to recommend something calming to give her before you attempt any grooming.

Tomorrow marks one month since I lost my tigger boy. 😔
I still can’t seem to grasp the fact that he’s actually gone…. I miss him so much…
Here’s his permanent resting spot. ❤️
His cremated remains are behind the picture and his paw print.

He was the best cat ever…. He petted my face with his paw… he loved car rides and water… he was so loyal and greeted me at the door like a dog would… he was perfect. There will never be another cat like him. Never ever. I know he is, and I hope he knows how much I tried to help him by vet visits and I hope he knows how much I loved and still love him.
He passed away in my arms October 8,2021 at 8:25pm ):
I was holding him and telling him that I got him and I won’t go anywhere… he peacefully slipped after the third time I said it while crying.
I knew he didn’t wanna go… he was my emotional support animal and it’s just so hard… he didn’t wanna leave me I could tell by the last look he gave me. It was a “mama I don’t wanna leave you like this but I need to go…” it was so hard seeing that look and actually feeling what he was telling me…
He was only 12 years old, it’s not fair…

content warning: me talking, in detail, about my cat who had a seizure(?)
my cat, Kevin, had what i think was a seizure Saturday night. he's never had one before, and i've never had a cat have a seizure before, so i didn't know what it looked like. there were warning signs, but i didn't know that's what they were until after it happened and i googled more about seizures in cats. it started at 6pm, he started throwing up, yowling, and pacing the house. i didn't know what to think at that point. i thought maybe he got a hold of something, but after going through the house three times, i couldn't find anything that he might've gotten a hold of. so then i started to think that maybe it was just a really upset stomach. since there was nothing else i could really do at that point, myself and my siblings just kept a close eye on him and tried to make sure he was as comfortable as possible. he seemed to calm down after a while, so we relaxed and figured that him throwing up had helped calm his stomach. well at around 8:30pm, all of a sudden my sibling comes running in the room and says that Kevin was sitting up, and then just fell over. i ran out into the living room where he was, and he was laying on his side, not moving. he was staring straight ahead, unblinking, unresponsive, just completely out of it. he'd also peed himself. i of course panicked and absolutely broke down, because i thought he'd just died. i thought he was laying there on my floor, dead, gone. my dad comes running out of his room cause he heard me and my siblings crying and panicking, he comes into the living room where we're at, gets down in the floor with him, and realizes he's alive, just not moving. so he carefully pulls him into my dogs bed, picks the bed up, and carries him into his bedroom so he could sit with him and call the vet. well, we didn't realize it was the weekend, and i don't know about other places, but here regular vets aren't open on the weekend, only emergency vets are. so, we called a handful of those. they were either full and couldn't see him, or had 4+ hour wait times, and at that point we didn't know what was happening, we just thought he was dying for some reason, so we didn't think he would make it that long. we finally got a hold of a really nice lady from one of the emergency vets and she listened to us frantically explain what happened and she said that he probably had a seizure. she explained that there's nothing that they can really do for him after the fact, and that honestly it'd be best to avoid going to an emergency vet all together because it's really expensive. she said that we should wait and just take him into our usual vet as soon as possible, so, that's what we did/are doing. we called Monday to see if we could get in, but they were completely booked, so we have an appointment for tomorrow at 11. Kevin was out of it all day Sunday, he'd get up a little bit, take a couple sips of water, then just flop back down in the floor and sleep. we gave him my dogs bed to sleep in, but he preferred the floor for some reason. he's perked up a lot today. he's eating again, and drinking more. he's also been up walking around. he's still sleeping a lot, but i assume that's normal. seizures take a lot out of someone, i'd imagine. i don't know what all they're gonna want to do to/for him tomorrow, but what i do know is the money is unfortunately going to have to come out of the gofundme we set up for our other cat, Theo, who has some sort of mass on his chest/stomach area and needs surgery. hopefully the cost for tomorrow won't be too high, but if i had to i'd give an arm and a leg for this cat. he's my baby. to those who pray, please pray for my boy! for those who aren't the praying type, please just keep us in your thoughts and send well wishes and positive vibes our way! thank you ❤

This morning Misty my cat was put to sleep. She was 19 years old.
R.I.P Misty You are much loved and greatly missed.
22nd February 2002 - 9th November 2021.A vet nurse had a room ready, but found it was taken. Then they were running late so we had to wait, Misty decided to give her opinion on waiting and pooped on the floor. Otherwise she was purring, she was calm.
It was heart breaking, she was so fragile they couldn't do it intravenously, they had to sedate her...
Warning this next part is hard to hear once she was sedated they gave her an injection to her heart, so I couldn't be with her in her final moments.
She was settled in a beautiful box with the fluffy plush cover from her cushion. I took a moment when she was brought back to me, then took her home, and settled her in her resting place.
Goodbye baby girl

My Birthday 7th May
