Valleyclan { Discussions & Forms }

A clan tucked away in the vast Canadian wilderness, Valleyclan, is known only distantly for its hardy cats and mysterious aura. The only clan for miles in any directions they have evolved to life in the harsh seasons and constant dangers of the seemingly endless wilderness. From bands of rogues, to the weather itself, Valleyclan has pushed through it all only to have it all threaten to fall before them.

A freezing wind lashes at all it can reach, and the terrified sounds of cats beyond the blizzard is all that can be heard. The presence of a cat can be felt as the ominous words begin;"beware the whispers of cold and ice, as it is a predator of all. Plant, prey, and predator will all be consumed, destroyed but what cannot be seen." A dream, a message, a prophecy shown to the medicine cat time and time again. Each time accompanied with a sense of urgency. Perhaps it warns of the coming leaf-fall? And yet the message repeats itself time and time again, ever growing in urgency...

Rules & Credits

Postby TogepiIsSmol » Thu Nov 04, 2021 1:11 am

    General Rules
  1. There is no codeword or anything, but upon joining/attempting to join it is going to be expected you have read the rules. Important information is bolded and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
  2. All chicken smoothie rules must be followed at all times. These can be found here. Take particular care to look at the rules about using photography/artwork and the rules concerning roleplay/writing
  3. OOC talk must be kept to the Valleyclan { Discussions & Forms } thread. This includes: questions, comments, planning for the future of the roleplay, character forms, and any other OOC type of talking.
  4. Do not spam. A definition of what is considered spam on Chicken Smoothie can be found here.
  5. Your character must be approved before you can begin roleplaying. Only myself, TogepiIsSmol, may accept characters in most cases. If I have not been online for over 48 hours the other roleplayers may accept your character on my behalf if it follows all the character specific rules.
  6. Your posts must be a minimum of 3, high quality, sentences at all times. It is very hard to respond to shorter posts and it is encouraged you write more!
  7. Posts must be from a third-person perspective and in past-tense. This is to make it easier for everyone involved to understand what is going on at any given time. If you need help understanding what this means simply ask, I would be happy to give a few examples.
  8. Signatures must be off in the roleplay thread. This helps keep things clean looking and easier to read. They are, however, welcome in the discussion thread.
  9. All art and images used must be properly sourced and credited. If they are not free-to-use please do not use them here, that is art theft! There are plenty of websites that provide free to use images, one of which is Unsplash.

    Character Creation Rules
  1. You may make your own form as long as it had the following information: Name, age, gender, rank, a description and/or picture, and a short biography (a bit about their personality and past.)
  2. You may have as many characters as you can comfortably handle. If you are struggling to keep your characters active you may be asked to drop a few of them.
  3. You cannot be your own mate. This is pretty self explanatory, mostly it prevents awkward character arches and such.
  4. No parentless kits or starting as a queen. You need special permission to start as either.
  5. Rogues and loners and tentatively allowed, but please read this entire rule. It is not recommend you join as a loner without the intention of joining the clan, and if you join as a rogue please do not have them be your only character. It make it very hard to keep you involved in the roleplay if your character is always outside of clan territory and rogues/loners are generally not welcome within the territory.
  6. Temporary characters are allowed, but must be either requested for a plot point or approved first. Temporary characters exist a lot like flat characters in stories. This could be a rogue for a planned attack on the clan camp, an elder intended on having die of greencough, a mysterious loner bringing a prophecy... You get the idea!
  7. No all knowing, all powerful, or otherwise perfect/implied to be perfect characters. Everyone has flaws, everyone. With no character flaws it makes things sort of boring.
  8. All cats must be realistic. No pink fur, purple eyes, wings, or otherwise unnatural characteristics. Also please note that if you intent to make your cat specifically be a specialty breed (aka specifically stating they are siamese, ragdoll, etc) then they must be an ex-kittypet or the immediate child of one. It just isn't realistic for a group of wild/feral cats to maintain being pureblood like that.
  9. No savanna cats, large cats, or hairless cats. These specific cat breed just do not fit the setting and would likely not thrive in the environment.
  10. All sexualities may exist, as well as any genders that would be realistic to a cat. Hermaphrodite cats do exist (although they are rare) as well as toms who have been neutered and mollys that have been spayed. Use these facts to make your cats gender identity make sense in the setting!

Image
Within the Territory
Stone Mark: A small rocky clearing located near the western border of the clan's territory. Stone Mark is often used as a meeting place with outsiders.

The Shallows: An area of river where the water widens, becoming very shallow and rock. At many sections of the Shallows the water can easily be walked across, while those that aren't are generally safe to swim. The area is plentiful in minnows and small fish. Large sections of the water freeze over during Leafbare.

Fawn Pond: A small pond plentiful in fish, although few come close enough to the shores to be caught. Ducks and other water fowl can sometimes be seen on the water's surface. The clearing it's in is also a very popular place for training and the daily activities of the clan. Almost completely freezes over during Leafbare.

Clan Camp: A small clump of borders with a variety of old burrows dug beneath them to create a subtle, yet pletiful, variety of dens. The boundaries of the camp are mostly covered in small bushes and long grass, but otherwise it is very open and can clearly view the clearing of which it is in. Due to the cats constant presence very few prey animals can be found here aside from the occasional bird.

Sweet Grass Meadow: A dry clearing with a few large boulders. Plenty of small animals and herbs can be found here, although the environment is also perfect for other predators and the cats often proceed with caution when using this plentiful space.

Farleap Waters: A small lake connected to the river. It is often calm enough to swim in, although there is little catchable prey to be found in it. Most prey of interest can be found on the shores of the lake, as well as a variety of plants and herbs. The lake has a few small islands, although they are rarely visited by the warriors without good reason.

White Rock River: A fast moving river with an almost constant current. The banks on both sides are very steep and the entire area is general considered too dangerous for apprentices to visit alone. Some rarer herbs and berries grow around this area, as well as a variety of larger and unique prey animals.

The Falls: Three rather impressive sections of rapids can be seen in this section of the river, although the majority is calm enough for an experienced swimmer to cross during warmer seasons. Water snakes and some amphibians enjoy the area most times of the year.

Twin River: A fork in the river often used as a meeting spot. The deep woods offering cover for when more private discussions need to happen away from prying eyes. The scent of large predators can be found here during some times of the year, although it is more often than not safe.

Dry Lands: A sprawling field that cats must cross to get to Tall Rock and the extensive tunnels within that must be visited for any issues and ceremonies relating to Starclan. The openness can leave a cat feeling exposed and often large animals and occasionally their predators can be see distantly in the field. Plentiful in small prey animals.

Beyond the Borders
The Wetlands: A foul smelling extensive marshland that has never been crossed by Valleyclan. Rogues are occasionally found poking around the border here.

Deep Forest: A seemingly endless forest in two directions from the clan's territory. A two-leg settlement is suspected to be somewhere beyond it, as a rare kittypet or two has been seen here. Loners and rogues also frequent this area along with predators and on the rare occasion a two-leg or dog.

Tall Rock: The start of a large mountain range, a tunnel system can be found at its base and hidden within is a striking pool of water in a crystalized cavern. This space is used for anything relating to Starclan but can be very dangerous to get to.

Ermine, 3-4 warriors.
Geese, 5-8 warriors.

Image (Example: Wildlife name, rarity + known locations. Additional information.)

Extremely Dangerous Wildlife: These creatures should be avoided at all times and any signs of them should be reported to the clan leader. Many are known to eat cats thought some are simply mindless in their aggression.
Badgers, extremely rare and almost never seen in clan territory.
Bobcats, a rare sight but can sometimes be smelt near the Deep Woods.
Cougars, extremely rare and almost never seen in clan territory.
Coyotes, a rare sight but a pack of them can sometimes be heard in the Dry Lands.
Dogs, extremely rare and almost never seen in clan territory. Almost always accompanied by twolegs.
Eagles, an uncommon sight but a pair can sometimes be seen above the Dry Lands.
Foxes, a rare sight but can sometimes be smelt near the Deep Woods.
Lynxes, extremely rare and almost never seen in clan territory. One is known to live at Tall Rock.
Owls, relatively common to see at night all across the territory. They are often found at the edge of clearings waiting for easy prey.
Rogue Cats, relatively common to see outside clan border but they are most common at the border nearest the Wetlands
Wolverines, extremely rare and almost never seen in clan territory.
Wolves, extremely rare and almost never seen in clan territory.

Slightly Dangerous Wildlife: These creatures are generally more defensive than aggressive, making them easier to avoid, while other simply do not see cats as prey and will avoid conflict with the clan if they are left alone. A rare few are known to be intelligent but communications should never be attempted without dire need.
Bears, extremely rare and almost never seen in clan territory. Their strong smell and loud noises make them easy to avoid.
Martins, relatively common along the clans borders but rarely venture within. A strong danger to kits and should be driven off.
Moose, an uncommon sight but are known to travel through the territory on occasion. Strangely aggressive and careless creatures.
Raccoons, relatively common along the clans borders but rarely venture within. Appear to be intelligent.
Snakes, a common sight in areas that get a lot of sun. While some make good prey a few are known to have dangerous venom.
Twolegs, extremely rare and almost never seen in clan territory. Twolegs are known to be intelligent.
Weasel, a common sight along the clans borders. A strong danger to younger cats and should be driven off.

Passive Wildlife:
Deer, an uncommon sight but are known to travel through the territory and small herds can be seen in clearings on occasion.
Elk, rare but can sometimes be seen travelling throughout the territory. Although peaceful they can be careless where they step.
Kittypets, a rare sight in the clans territory. These cats aren't dangerous but should be discouraged from entering clan territory.
Loners, a rare sight in the clans territory. These cats are generally passive but should be discouraged from entering clan territory.
Mountain Goats, extremely rare and only ever seen at Tall Rock.
Mountain Sheep, an uncommon sight most seasons but are common in the Dry Lands when they are lambing in newleaf.
Skunks, a rare sight but can sometimes be found poking around the borders. Although non-aggressive they will spray overconfident cats.
Woodpeckers, an uncommon sight high in trees all throughout the territory. Generally too difficult to hunt and so not considered prey.

Characters

Postby TogepiIsSmol » Thu Nov 04, 2021 1:13 am

WIP, please be patient with me while I re-do this section. If you have any questions about characters please message me!

What are NPCs/Unclaimed Cats?

They are cats that are known to exist in the world but are not currently being played by anyone. You may play as one of them instead of making a character but you must ask first (Just be aware they come with set relations and a general appearance.) While a cat is still an NPC anyone can interact with them but nobody owns them and they can be used to progress the plot when needed.

Where are the relations?

If you need to check a cats relations just check that character's form (it is linked). In the case of NPCs or in the case a player did not update their form please just ask about it in chat! I may add relations later on to make things easier.

Current Story Arch

Postby TogepiIsSmol » Thu Nov 04, 2021 1:13 am

A new prophecy has been presented, otherwise simply an introduction to clan life as the roleplay begins.

Valleyclan: Twigstar

Postby TogepiIsSmol » Thu Nov 04, 2021 9:16 am

Image

Twigstar {8th Life}
Ragged brown tabby, Tom, Leader
-
〈 Name 〉Twigkit, Twigpaw, Twigfur, Twigstar
〈 Age 〉97 Moons
〈 Rank 〉Kit, Apprentice, Warrior, Deputy, Leader
-
〈 Mentor 〉Brookflight
〈 Apprentice 〉Mousestep, Morningnose, Arroyoroam
-
〈 Mother 〉Ferretfur
〈 Father 〉Bluefang
〈 Siblings 〉PM if interested
-
〈 Mate 〉None
〈 Kits 〉None
-
〈 Friends 〉Firetail, Owlstar, Cinderstride
〈 Enemies 〉None

Twigstar has lived a long and eventful life. His story a simple one of loyalty and perseverance that gained him the role of deputy under Owlstar and then to leader himself. A lot of time has passed since then and in his long years Twigstar has seen a lot of harshness throughout his lives, leaving him now on his 8th.

The ragged looking and mysterious tom, despite maintaining his logic and his wisdom ever growing finds himself growing more and more tired with the passing moons but an uncertainty with the present day of his clan has the older tom anxious about passing the clan on to the next leader. From floods, fires, to rogue attacks Twigstar has protected those he loved, and even lost many of them and yet he maintains strength in the eyes of his clan. Refusing to let them see the weakness that slowly grows in his very bones. With little left for him of family or close friends it really is a wonder that the tom keeps a strong face. Will it falter with the coming plights? Only time can tell.

Valleyclan: Cricketstripe

Postby TogepiIsSmol » Thu Nov 04, 2021 9:34 am

Image

Cricketstripe
Brown Tabby, Molly, Warrior
-
〈 Name 〉Cricketkit, Cricketpaw, Cricketstripe
〈 Age 〉20 Moons
〈 Rank 〉Kit, Apprentice, Warrior
-
〈 Mentor 〉Duststep
〈 Apprentice 〉Rootpaw
-
〈 Mother 〉Sparrowpelt
〈 Father 〉Unknown
〈 Siblings 〉Featherkit, Waspkit
-
〈 Mate 〉None
〈 Kits 〉None
-
〈 Friends 〉Open
〈 Enemies 〉None

As a young and energetic warrior Cricketstripe is known for her determination and eagerness. At first this was most evident in her training as an apprentice, but her energy is just as clear now in her duties as a warrior.

She is often found training when she has time to herself, working hard towards her somewhat kittenish goals of becoming one of the finest warriors in history. These goals were bred by the stories of old heroes and raised by how their names were still known, even now, so many moons past from when they lived and died.

Holding onto those old stories, with all the pleasure and naivetes of a kitten, Cricketstripe pushes herself harder than any mentor ever could have as an apprentice. Her own downfalls and failures often turned into moments of learning and eagerness to never repeat such acts. This ambition, however, has its flaws and mixed with her inexperience and influenceability it could cause some to worry on how it may lead her down a darker path.

Her hard work may also be due to her lack of attachments, a coping mechanism of sorts. Having lost her mother and siblings to a bad case of greencough when she was just a kit, Cricketstripe lacked the affections of her family, being replaced by what she perceived as pity from the cats around her. She grew to hate the feeling, growing an obsession with being known for anything that wasn't the unfortunate death of her family.

Re: Valleyclan { Discussions & Forms } Needs Members!

[I haven’t rp’d in awhile, so I hope it’s okay if I join? I can average a decent amount of text depending on what’s going on! Though I might be busy during the afternoon, got a part time job! I’ll do my best to respond, but don’t be afraid to pm me if you need my attention! I hope I did the forms right….been awhile since I did a WC RP ;w;]

Sable
Black Loner Tom
-
〈 Name 〉 Sable
〈 Age 〉 23 Moons
〈 Rank 〉 Loner
-
〈 Mentor 〉text
〈 Apprentice 〉text
-
〈 Mother 〉 Unknown
〈 Father 〉 Unknown
〈 Siblings 〉 N/A
-
〈 Mate 〉open
〈 Kits 〉 N/A
-
〈 Friends 〉 N/A
〈 Enemies 〉N/A

All that Sable knows about his family is his mother bringing him a recently caught mouse and giving it too him instead of sharing it. He was only a kit back then, so he didn’t know how bad his mother looked. She had ragged fur, with a torn ear. But he was also apart of a two-leg home most of his kitten life. He has mostly fended for himself when he lost his mother at an early age, after they had been in a two-leg home. His mother was his closest friend that he had at the time, so don’t be too surprised if he comes off with a brash nature. He’s actually a big softie inside. But he will try to push others away to lessen the loss of loosing someone close to him. He doesn’t want to lose another cat. Especially with how his mother died. Though he stays to himself, he knows about the clan cats and isn’t apposed to joining their ranks if needed. There is safety in numbers after all.

Icetail
Russian Blue Warrior Tom
-
〈 Name 〉Icetail
〈 Age 〉35 Moons
〈 Rank 〉Warrior
-
〈 Mentor 〉text
〈 Apprentice 〉Whitepaw
-

〈 Father 〉Talonstrike
〈 Siblings 〉N/A
-
〈 Mate 〉Open
〈 Kits 〉N/A
-
〈 Friends 〉N/A
〈 Enemies 〉N/A

Icetail is a battle hardened Tom cat with moons of experience under his claws. Don’t let his age fool you, he may be 35 moons old, but that doesn’t mean he won’t put you in your place if you mess with him. This Russian blue Tom has a stubborn attitude and a tough shell to crack due to the loss of his parents when they went on a hunting party during leaf-bare. Unfortunately, his parents where the only two that didn’t survive the sudden freak snow storm. Ever since that day, Icetail has had a cold exterior that no one can crack, though his shell falters at the sight of kits in the nursery. Behind the cold exterior is just a old tom that lost his parents to early.
