Andrew "Drew" Alexander Byrne (Hogwarts)

Drew Byrne
16 | Hufflepuff | CIS | Bisexual | Hufflepuff | Muggleborn

The Wand Chooses the Wizard, Mr. Potter. Drew has a 11" Cedar Wand, firm, with a dragon heartstring core. This is extremely fitting for him, as he has a perspicacity and perception that few others have. He has the potential to be a frightening adversary but falls short due to dyslexia and years of influence from his parents convincing him that he could never possibly succeed. However, cross those he loves and you might just see another side of him. Cross him on the pitch, and you might just mysteriously end up taking a bludger... the core is equally as fitting. With a heartstring core, he acts in according to his temperment. Cross him, or true to his loyal nature, those he loves most, and it might just be the last thing you do.
Arctic Fox. While he has never produced a Patronus Charm, due to a lack of trying and puzzlement at what find memory from his childhood he should be calling on (hint, he has very few) he does not realize what creature would represent him. Those who know him best, however, know that his Patronus would be an Arctic Fox. They are communal and nomadic, never hibernate, and are fiercely loyal to those who earn their trust. They burrow and they hate the cold, just like Drew.
Favorite Class? Does flying count? Drew is not a very studious student. He does try, to an extent, but the way the words float off the pages frustrates him to no end and drives him absolutely insane. As a result, academics aren't his forte, flying is. However, after the first year, Flying isn't an actual class. If he had to pick one in his sixth year, it would be Defense Against the Dark Arts, because he's not dumb and he knows that there are still Death Eaters about who would rather see him dead than mixing with their pure children. If survival isn't being taken into account, Care of Magical Creatures is his favorite because he has always had a soft spot for animals.
They say dog is a man's best friend. One of Drew's closest companions in life is a German Shepherd named Luna. She's not actually his, she belongs to his friend Devon Ramsey, but seeing as he essentially lives with Devon after being kicked out by his parents, he counts her as his own too.
Crush? No one has time for that.
History: Drew's life story is far from a happy one, though he knows others had it far worse. His parents were the opposite of Death Eaters. They were muggles, seeking a higher status in society than a railroad worker and a homemaker could provide for their three children. Drew was the oldest, and they bent over backward with their appearances. They pulled scams to raise the money to send him to a private muggle school, bought finer things they certainly could not afford... all to pretend like they were better off than they were. They expected him to become a doctor, raise their standing in society and provide for them so they didn't have to do things for themselves.

What a disappointment he was. He was a bad student. His parents just yelled at him when he tried to tell them that the letters floated off the pages, saying that it wasn't like there was magic on the books... those words would haunt them later. His parents retaliated for his bad grades, mostly with sharp words and deep cutting insults... sometimes with other methods, methods that left unexplained bruises and a deeper emotional impact than words ever could. It is that reason that his dyslexia remains undiagnosed to this day... it all started to make sense when he got his Hogwarts letter. It was all explained: the letters were floating off the page because magic. No one told him that, it was just what he had figured after all this time wondering what was wrong with him. So he went to Hogwarts... and he continued to struggle.

His parents were less than pleased, and they saw him as a disgrace and something to keep hidden... at 11 years old, he was disowned and kicked out of his house. Uncertain of anything other than the fact that he needed to figure out a plan after school, he went to Hogwarts. He started to learn... he quickly became friends with another Hufflepuff by the name of Devon Ramsey and like that a plan fell into place. Devon's parents took him in like one of their own and let him stay with them for the summers. They were both well off, healers at St. Mungo's. They even bought his schools supplies for him. He insisted he would pay them back but they always shook it off.

He was always a little awkward and bad at making friends, much less a significant other. He was too focused on flying. The back of the broom felt like the one place that was home to him. He loved it, and in his first year of Hogwarts, he made the house team. It was a bit of a record, actually. First years usually never made the house team. He's been a Chaser ever since. The rest of his life was an absolute mess, but at least he had one place where things felt right.

Drew Byrne (Son of Athena)

General Information
Full name: Andrew Alexander Byrne
Nicknames: Andrew, Drew
Gender/Pronouns: He/Him/His
Age: 16
Birthday: October 3rd
Sexuality: Bisexual

Camp Information
Weapon(s): Bow/Arrows, Throwing Knives, Long-Distance Weapons
Godly Parent: Athena
Claimed?: Yes
Cabin: Athena (Cabin 6)
Powers: Telumkinesis
Number of Beads on Necklace: 3

Physical Description
The Looks;; Drew stands 6 foot 2 or 188 centimeters tall. He's bulky, naturally built to be a fighter with a certain grit and determination that goes just beyond just his physical appearance. His hair is dark brown, almost chocolate colored, and well-kept. His hair is long enough to run his fingers through, but not long enough to tie back or even fall over his ears, typically described as a jock or 'bad boy' type look. His eyes are a dark brown to match, but distinct in their own way with light hazel flecks in the southern hemisphere of both of his irises.

Scars/Tattoos/Birthmarks;; A thick scar runs down his left shoulder blade from an unfortunate run-in with a lycanthrope. The quick intervention on behalf of the camp, which he happened to live near by the grace of the gods, prevented him from suffering a bite to turn him, only a scratch to leave a rather nasty looking scar and leave him with a story to talk about during training in order to scare new members into minding the Camp Half-Blood borders.

Style;; Drew likes to dress practically: a leather jacket to buffer the wind, jeans that are easy to move in and a simple plain t-shirt. He always has running shoes on in the event he needs to bolt from a situation... and he often has some kind of necklace around his neck. His favorite is an arrowhead necklace he got from his father on his 12th birthday, when his father came home from a business trip.

Personality & Background
Drew had an interesting childhood. His mother was never around, and his father claimed she ran off after he was born and never looked back. His father was always busy and always working. To say that his father was a little spiteful that his mother was a Goddess is an understatement, and as a result he never really knew of her or considered himself to even have a mother. He grew up a quiet child, surrounded by nannies while his father worked... he still had his own interests. He loved to explore, loved nature and reading and learning. The dyslexia made learning difficult, but he managed after being diagnosed with it at a young age. What he didn't realize was that the reason he was dyslexic was because his mind was hardwired for ancient Greek. His father returned from a business trip for his 12th birthday with the gift of an arrowhead necklace. He almost never takes it off, and it's been with him every since.

When he was 13, he was out in the woods near his house, having snuck out, when he had the misfortune to stumble across a Lycanthrope named Andrea. It just so happened that a team had been tracking the Lycanthrope for targeting Demigods in the area... and that was how he was introduced to the idea that the Greek Gods were real, and more than that, his mother was one of them. He was taken to Camp Half-Blood, though he refused to leave his home without his pet German Shepherd, Luna. There, he was sorted into Hermes until the time in which his mother claimed him. In all honesty, there was a part of him who didn't want to know which of the Greek goddesses was his mother. However, he was claimed by his mother Athena shortly after his arrival at the camp. He started to train, showing a natural ability with the long-ranged weapons such as kunai, throwing axes, long-bows and short-bows. It fit his personality well because he was a distant person. He struggled to make connections with people and much preferred the presence of animals, leaving him a little socially awkward and often stumbling and stuttering over his words.

Personal Relationships
Luna;; German Shepherd, pet, best friend

Drew Byrne
18 | CIS | Bisexual | Runaway | Homeless

Personality: Drew is a quiet and reserved character. He thrives off of disappearing into the background and relies on it to survive. Still, he is capable of talking his way around others and out of situations. He keeps things simple, and is a minimalist because it was what he had to do in order to survive. Apart from that he is sassy and not afraid to try and put others into their place, especially if they start to weigh in on his life.
History: Drew’s life was far from an easy one. From the beginning he was destined to struggle. His parents never wanted a child, and they made sure he knew it growing up. They provided for him, but just barely. They themselves struggled greatly financially and the strain of raising him wore down on them. They made sure he knew that too. He was a quiet child, inquisitive but resourceful. This never changed, and was honed. When he was in elementary school, he got in trouble for stealing often… in middle school, it was never an issue. It wasn’t because he stopped all together… it was because he just stopped getting caught.

When high school came, poor treatment at home wore down on him and he made a bold move: to run away. Having stored stolen cash accumulated over a couple of months, he stole away, living on the streets and rationing his funds for food and other survival essentials like a jacket for when cold weather hit, blankets, a waterproof backpack to keep it all dry… he was pretty sure he was doing good for himself. He hitchhiked and stowed away on train cars to travel from city to city when police started to grow suspicious of him. It’s what he’s been doing ever since and he has no intention of changing his actions… he only hopes to raise the stakes a bit.
