It is 1840, and New York's biggest party is about to be held. The Purcell family is
one of the richest families in the whole state, and with the coming-of-age of their
daughter, they have decided to throw a ball. Carefully selected invites were sent
out to young men and women from all over the world with the hope of forming a
few romantic pairs. Their mission is to find their "other half" at the party, for a
brooch that is given to a woman matches the colour of a cufflink given to the men,
creating a perfect pair. When the party ends and each finds their pairing, they are
to spend a few extra weeks in a guest house owned by the Purcells in hopes of
concluding some happily-ever-after endings.

Loud, outgoing, and with a mind of her own, Annalise likes making her presence known. Growing
up with privilege at her very fingertips, she can be considered to be somewhat bit self-centered,
and also rather uneducated to the world around her. Having been cooped up and protected for m-
ost of her life, Annie isn't as familiar with the outside world as she would have liked to be, and t-
herefore tends to unintentionally jump to the displeased or uncomfortable side of things if some-
one does something she isn't familiar with. She's a bit vain, having known little more than the un-
usual amount of attention she receives, but she isn't exactly the type of person to purposely knock
someone down to pull her higher up. In fact, while Annie does love a good bit of gossip (who does-
n't?), she isn't the girl to go about making rumours or telling lies. She isn't very strong when it com-
es to criticism or rejection; again, being the youngest meant many things bent to her level, so tak-
ing "no" for an answer can be a bit challenging, depending on the situation. Though confident and
lively, Annie can sometimes be a bit too foolhardy, as well as impulsive. If she wants something, s-
he wants to do it right away, which can make her a bit impatient. She'll make her undesired waiti-
ng known, too. If her mind is set to something, she can unintentionally become a bit more selfish,
desiring her needs before others, but that's almost always because she doesn't want to switch her
mindset at that moment.

Her mind fluctuates. While she's very much an ambitious dreamer who has big plans and bigger id-
eas, she isn't stupid, and knows what's realistic and what isn't. She loves the idea of love and whil-
e she craves it, she also knows what she wants in a family, and becoming the housewife certainly
isn't on that list. She's actually quite intelligent, but that's often brushed over due to her gender,
status, and fantasized ideas. While dreams lay on the surface, practicality looms underneath, ne-
ver too far for her to think otherwise. She knows her place in the world, and while she adores dr-
essing up and feeling pretty, she knows it won't always just be looks that give her what she wants.

To strangers, her confidence might be a bit intimidating. However, she's a joy to be around if she
accepts you. She's fiercely loyal and protective to her loved ones, and will take a stand without s-
econd-guessing things. She also loves hyping others up and making them feel worthy, which is oft-
en a feel-good moment on both their end and her own. To her suitors, she's cheeky, but genuine;
she likes the idea of love too much to let it slip from her fingers because of a silly mess-up.

Annalise was born into the wealthy family of the Purcells. Philip
Purcell, the father, was a businessman who owned various comp-
anies, many of which consisted of oil and supplies for railroads.
Philip and Beth Purcell had five children altogether. Annalise w-
as not only the only girl, and the youngest child of the family.
She was spoiled rotten ━ dance lessons, painting classes, music
instructors at their door every single day. Being the youngest a-
slo meant she was babied a bit more, and it wasn't until she w-
as old enough to look out for herself that she was allowed to w-
ander around town. Unfortunately, that had limits. At all times
was there a brother or worker to accompany her. Despite her
big dreams, Annie hasn't ever visited too far outside of Manhat-
tan, but it is her ultimate goal in life to eventually settle out
somewhere in Europe. Although she's a romantic, Annie's main
goal is to display her talents. Having a loved one by her side s-
imply adds to the joy of it all.

Her ultimate goal is to become a painter. She attended many
art galleries and competitions over her years and wants to m-
ake a career out of it. Her dream is to sell a piece somewher-
e in France or Greece.

Born in Belluno, Italy, Tate is a part of a large Italian family. He was bor-
n second out of a total of eight children, landing himself a spot as the s-
econd oldest. The order of the children went as followed: Angela, Tate,
Maddalena, Ilaria, Mauro, Cesare, Alice, and Nicoletta. Angela, oldest by
one and a half years, was female, which meant that over time, Tate wo-
uld be the one to handle the family business first. The Ricci family cert-
ainly were not rich by any means. While they weren't on-the-streets poor,
and while they made enough money to keep them afloat, they didn't ha-
ve extra gifts and opportunities like many did. They had a farm, and the
successful selling of their products was what managed to help them out.
His mother was a seamstress, though only local, and his father ran the f-
arm with no paid ranch hand. They had enough money to send Angela a-
nd Tate off to get education, and from there, it was expected for the tw-
o of them to educate the younger children. Tate took it upon himself to
do much of the teaching, while Angela focused more on educating her s-
isters on housework. Between studying and helping out around the farm,
Tate didn't have much free time. It wasn't until recently, when he was 18,
that they met someone who had relations to the Purcell family. The man
claimed it had been the best milk he had ever tasted, and through a few
short there-and-back conversations, he bought many bottles to take back
to America for the family. Over time, while the Riccis never officially met
any of the Purcells face-to-face, it seemed as though they had become a
semi-regular customer. Despite this, however, it was still a shock when t-
hey received an invitation to their party a few years later. While they w-
ere hesitant at first, for the Ricci family knew they wouldn't have much
to offer, they finally agreed to let Tate go off. Not only was it a relief th-
at the American family was paying for the trip, but it was also an oppor-
tunity to mingle with other cultures, and hopefully settle for love.

❀ Amelia belongs to two very loving parents who do their best to provide their two children (Amelia and her younger brother) with the best life she could. Both of her parents came from poorer backgrounds and so before they started a family, they wanted to create a comfortable life. Because of this, Amelia has grown up to be very accepting of many backgrounds. Her family has worked for centuries in retail and many of the women also have a side business in being seamstresses which is how they have known the Purcell's as during some of the families travels, they visited the Embers family shop.

❀ Since Amelia was little, she has been very creative and takes well to dancing, art, baking and other ways that others express themselves. Although she might not be as good as some others, she is more than happy to continue learning. She has no problems with being honest however she rarely uses this against people unless being confronted. She only shares her opinion when she feels it is her place because she was always taught manners growing up which she also finds is a very important aspect for a romantic partner to have. She is quite a curious person and will strike up a conversation with almost anyone unless she gets the sneaking suspicion that she is not liked in which she will slowly back away from the situation. Amelia is the type of person to put others care above hers but isn’t careless with her life but rather prefers to be unselfish. She also enjoys intellectual conversations and conversations with those who seem equally interested. She loves a good jokes and finds others who do as well quite charming, despite being focused and serious about her outlook on life.

Amelia does her best to avoid confrontation because she fears that it may bring out the best in her, unless she is defending a friend, but it honestly depends on the situation. She fears that she sometimes may be unpredictable which she can get quite self-conscious about and therefore she finds it hard to open to others unless she feels like she can trust them. However, she finds it quite easy to discuss other feelings with them because she provides the advice that she wish she had or could apply to herself. Depending on the debates that she has with others, she can lose her cool, even worse so when she sees others being shames for something they can’t help. When it comes to herself, she can take things to heart but takes a bit of time to back down because of her stubborn side.

Amelia does not feel that you need a partner to live however she has always felt that being able to share romantic love with someone is a way to better and grow oneself and patience with others. She would love a partner that she can share almost anything with, given that its hard for her, because she has always envied those couples that are close and safe with each other in regards to their personalities and lifestyle. She wants someone to have fun with but also be real with. She also wants someone that could be proud of her and that she would want to bring home to her parents. She would always be there for this person and support their endeavours. She would move anywhere for them and enjoy life with them.
