Just gonna quote myself from the main thread, heres the update for this year!

We have a few updates to the game this year, nothing major, just a few tweaks to help the game run smoother and hopefully provider a better experience for everyone. Here's a quick summery of the changes and why we've implemented them.

Rule changes:

• You may now turn your lights on before your form is accepted. Once the game starts. Doesn't apply to early apps obviously. Previously we didn't allow this as it helped to keep people from starting to send out their trick or treat forms before being accepted, and since a good number of forms have to be edited before being accepted, it caused problems if people started playing too early. Accepting trick or treats doesn't cause any real problems even if you aren't accepted yet, so we'd like to start allowing it earlier so waiting on your form to be accepted is a little easier. We'd still like everyone to help us keep an eye out for people sending out trick or treat PMs before being accepted though, if you notice someone has sent you one and isn't on the list, or the story doesn't follow the rules, let a thread mod know!
• You may now get our username updated on the player list if you change it. We will now update the player list usernames if you change your username after being accepted, just PM any thread mod and ask for it to be updated. Previously we didn't allow this simply because it was too much work to constantly be changing them for hundreds of players. But since we've been having less players in recent years it shouldn't cause as much of an issue now.
  
  Form changes:
• The form has been updated to ask several new (optional) questions. We will be using your answers to these to add small indicators next to your username on the list to show your preferences for what you receive in treats, as well as if you accept return trick or treaters. The intention being to make things more personalized, and easier for others to know what to send you, and to easily find those who accept return trick or treaters. Since we have been getting less players, allowing return trick or treaters will help keep you getting visitors if things start to slow down.
  
  Live player list:
• We will now have a live player list, it will be updated as we accept players, and you'll be able to view it as it is updated. We will still keep the regular list on the main thread, but this way all of our thread mods can update the list instead of only the cs staff on our team.
  
  Fanclub prompts:
• We'd like to offer some extra activities for those who want more engagement out of LOLO, so this year we will be posting prompts on the fanclub that you can participate in for a small gift. These will be things that are short an easy to do, like dressing up a pet, or telling us how your trick or treater might respond to something, etc. We'll post one every few days or so, and everyone who participates will be sent a little something.

i noticed the changes earlier when i was doing up my application and so far im loving it a lot! i think these additions were a great idea! and i love the idea of more lolo prompts on the fanclub too! ^^

i love it too! :3 my only advice is maybe you could try adding something that appears to look like a tag to the tail of your pet to replicate the plush? i think itd be a super cute detail !

Oooh the changes look fun! And I'm ashamed to say I don't have my story OR pet ready yet. I would normally have it done months ago. I'm actually thinking of just handing out treats this year as we've been very short handed at my job and I'm literally a zombie when I get home. Bit of a bummer but we'll see... =)

Hi! I’m new to the site but this sounds like a really fun event to try out for October :) I’m not sure my costume ideas are good enough to pass the rules check though.

Does either of these pets seem acceptably dressed for the holiday? One of them is meant to be a space alien theme and the other is your classic wizard/alchemist :)

The alien would probably need bit more, but the wizard/alchemist looks great! If you prefer going with the alien, theres still plenty of time to get some more items to complete it, and there are usually a few people every year (including me) which help out with costumes by giving out free items (though that would have to wait till October). We did have a space event back in 2016 that had some nice space themed items, if any of those look interesting to you.

i think you need maybe a lil more pumpkin added to the actual outfit imo! the decor is cute, but it doesnt count towards the costume sadly so you may need to add more to be approved!
