Range Trotters V.2 - Exploration

Range Trotters are the result of crossbreeding Orlov Trotters, Finnhorses, Welsh Cobs (section C & D) and Hanoverians. Later crosses of Quarter Horses, Paint and Appaloosas to gain color and to give a boost to their hardiness.

Created for use as work, carriage and leisure riding horses originally, they now serve as long-distance range horses, such as work with Park Rangers and mounted officers.

Willing and eager personalities, most are quickly trained to be bombproof and therefore trusted mounts in all lines of work; some are being seen in local show jumping competitions, others are notably used in therapeutic sessions for their calm temperaments. Harness races and endurance trials are common for the breed, as they are able to sustain an extended trot without tire. Cross-Country competitions see some of the taller Trotters, but due to their cob lineage this is still uncommon.

Despite the variety of competitions and work these horses are being seen in, they are still famously skilled as endurance racers. Many competitors have chosen Range Trotters due to their tireless work ethic, as well as the ease in which they can be trained. Many have become champions in endurance trials, and they have quickly become a sought after breed for their natural ability.

Adelaron Stables has been coordinating with both the NRTrA and local park rangers to permit members of the group to take to the trails that surround their property. Reports of some loose horses have been made, and it seems most of them look to be Ranger Trotters, oddly enough! Where exactly they came from, no one is sure, but so far they've been very illusive and don't seem to be accustomed to people. Rangers think they may be the offspring of some of the wild horses that roamed the region and their own mounts from years ago, when a fire broke out and devastated the area nearest the ranger station and it's stables. Some horses had been reported missing and had not been found in the aftermath.

Regardless, Adelaron stables has worked hard to get permission for the Range Trotter members to take a trail ride and see if they can see any of these herd members, maybe take them home! The area in question is densely packed foothills, however, so it can be hard to see very far into the tree line. Bad weather makes this worse at times, but with the proper gear and a ranger to guide the way, Adelaron staff hopes that luck will be on your side!

Though certain coat colors and markings may be more common depending upon the season, these are not restricted.
In summer, though flaxen chestnuts are more common, you might receive a black base!

Items may be switched out as more are released for the species.

Springtime, a time for both rain and shine, weather fickle as it slowly warms up the earth.
Mild storms are frequent in the area, but the trails the rangers take a usually safe even if caught in the rain.

Summer is hot, dry and often sweltering in the area, even among the trees. Intense bouts of heat can prevent any trail rides, as the rangers do not want to endanger horse or rider.

Autumn is a time of change. This is a time when the weather is most safe for travel, both storms and heatwaves are few and far between. The trail is cooler during the day, but that allows for longer travels and hopefully more luck!

Winter can be harsh in the area, most especially for anyone caught in a storm. The rangers have mustered as many as they can to continue the explorations at this time, but they've still had to cut trips in half to save their horses from frostbite, or risk getting caught in blizzard.

The current weather is rather warm, not a cloud in the summer sky.
Park rangers have deemed the weather fine to start a search!

Please remember that community members may only explore once per week!
This is a Sunday through Saturday schedule. If posting today, you may not post again until next Sunday's rollover!

All staff members may post twice per week, so long as they are not posting two explorations on the same day.
These will be tracked on a Sunday through Saturday basis, but will not be as strict due to the optional second chance.
Staff weeks reset on Sunday, regardless of when their last posting was made.
ie. post on Saturday, chances reset on Sunday regardless.

Weather will change each week!
Some weeks it will make exploring impossible.
In Spring/Summer months there is a 1 in 4 chance for this to happen.
In Autumn there is a 1 in 10 chance for this to happen.
Winter has two weeks blocked off for major storms. Explore will not be impacted the other two weeks.

You must wait to post on Sunday until after a weather report is up!
A weather report will be posted stating if explore will be open or closed.
Any forms made on Sunday before this is up will be ignored, and you will miss that chance to explore.

The form will not be available in the case of inclement weather weeks.
