They could have made an amazing event just based on the cave thing, let us go deeper into the cave and find that chamber of crystals. Give us bats, creepy crawlies, mushrooms, crystals, gemstones and whatnots. Like they did to begin with. And then leave the prehistoric stuff for its own event in the future.
I especially feel like the prehistoric theme was left behind because it was merged with the cave theme. Don't get me wrong, the prehistoric stuff we got was amazing, but there are so much more we could have gotten if it had been its own event. It could basically have been the same idea as this event, just with a prehistoric angle. Let us start at a fossil dig site and let the tokens be fossilized bones and/or teeth etc. And then we found a portal somehow that then lead us to the prehistoric area we got this year. I really, really hope they do another prehistoric event eventually, even if it's gonna take years into the future. There are so many prehistoric creatures out there and it honestly pains me we only got so few this event because it was merged with the cave theme. We only scratched the surface of the different types of dinos and other large reptiles we could have gotten, not to mention all of the different eras that came before the dinos were barely touched upon.
Tl;dr:
I truly loved the event this year, the pets and items were amazing both the cave related ones as well as the prehistoric ones... I just really wish the two themes had been two separate events.
I agree! This event was amazing and easily one of my favorites so far. Now that you bring it up though, I do think they could have gone farther in either directions.
They could have gone farther into the cave (no pun intended) with more crystal-inspired pets, geode themes, different kinds of bats and other buggy weird cave creatures, glow worms, secret tunnels, etc... and there are so many different kinds of dinosaurs, too, with maybe something along the lines of the comet that killed the dinos, leaned more into the tar pit and fossils thing, bones, evolving dinos into pets we have today, etc.
The event was great as is and no shade to the designers, but I definitely agree!
