I'm really not surprised that the dig site has a limit, and they still don't expect anyone to hit it; it's there as kind of like a "precaution", just incase, but since it takes a full hour every time it isn't very likely. Eh, it's just like "You may not get here, but if you do: no further!"

Looking at the pets from the secondary token place from the last couple of years, I'm now convinced they'll be common.

2020: Didn't have any.
2019: 4 outcomes, all common
2018: Didn't have any.
2017: 6 outcomes, 4 uncommons and 2 common. I don't know if the uncommons started as uncommon or common, though.

And I've personally gotten about 15 dig pets since their release. Not sure about the exact amount because they go like hotcakes.

Were those pets token trade-ins? Or like the crystal dig pets, achieved directly from the secondary token banner?
Sorry, I don't remember/didn't participate in those events

Tbf though the crystal squirrels were annoyingly common (I remember raging every time I got one). It was so bad people were practically gifting them away for free. I want to say I had 20+ from my own adopts…

I don’t see this years dig site pets being common (or at least not all of them anyway), though I don’t think they’ll be rare either.

Edit: The most annoying pet that stole tokens though is hands down the 2011 unicorn rats. Those things are STILL omg so common to plain common…. They were super cute though so eh.

I've done a bit of math, because math is fun.

I think the dig site will be open for 12-13 days, so let's just say 12. That means the absolute max digs you'd be able to do is 288. So if that's the limit or, worse, is higher then it effectively doesn't exist.

So let's assume you get your 8 hours of sleep every night and during the day you're a super active token hunter, that means you'll be able to get 16 digs per day, that's 192 digs total. So maybe the limit is 200?
Even the most active players certainly wouldn't be that good at the game. I mean, it's possible if you don't have anything to do the entire event, I guess? *shrugs*

The unicorn rats were banner pets... And the banner didn't have a limit in that event :'D
That's why those guys are still that common.
The burnt dog was from the secondary place and he's rare at this point.

And trust me guys, the banner limit may hurt when you hit it. But it is so much worse without it. Just 10+ days of constant banner hunting was honestly maddening xD

Yeah I got so many of the squirrels that I made a mini hoard for my irl squirrel just to have fun with it
