the rivalry between rockclan and treeclan has been going since the founding of the two clans. no one really knows how it started, no one knows if it will ever end. what they do know is that to survive, they must fight.

the two clans call the towering redwood forests home, one clan nestled on a rocky cliffside and the other preferring the crowded comfort of trees and coverage. they meet each other every full moon in a tentative truce at an enormous and mysterious black stone called blackrock. the peace is thin and tensions are always high.

when snow starts falling from the sky for the first time in known history, the two clans are faced with a threat to both of their survivals. prey is scarce and cats are getting sick and cold. with every snowflake that falls, the clans are in more danger. will rockclan and treeclan set aside their long and violent history to band together for survival? or will they fight for the survival of one? only starclan knows, and they aren't telling...

rockclan and treeclan are feuding. they are hostile to each other except at gatherings. they are fighting over the river mostly, but any other drama can be added as we go. we will start as usual, the weather is hot, greenery is lush, and the river is flowing as per normal. slowly things will start to change however; snow will start instead of rain, prey will become scarcer. I will announce when these changes should start appearing. no one knows why it is snowing and starclan has no answers. let chaos ensue! eventually, the entire forest will be covered in snow and the river will freeze over. cats will start to become unwell. this is the first snowfall that anyone can remember. it is up to everyone involved to decide whether the clans will band together to survive and help each other or fight until just one survives. all drama is encouraged! have fun!

rockclan is nestled quite close to a cliff overlooking a large part of the forest. they make their camp in quite a rocky area with sparse coverings. most dens are in crevices in the rocks.

a bustling river separates the two clans. it is rich with fish and the two clans are constantly fighting over the right to hunt there. currently TREECLAN has the right to hunt here (but that can always change...)

> blackrock
a mysterious and large shiny black rock that sits quite close to the river. it is technically on treeclan's side, which is why they feel they have more of a right to the river than rockclan does. the blackrock itself is where the two clans meet and also where leaders and medicine cats go to share dreams with starclan. when the moon hits it, it glows white and sparkles. not much is known about the history of the rock, but it is a sacred place. hunting and fighting are forbidden here.

> twolegs
the territories of rockclan and treeclan are both technically located in a national park for twolegs. although they live in an area that is quite quiet, the occasional adventurous twoleg can be seen or scented. there are also some rough trails that are sometimes used nearby. while the river is also quiet, there are sometimes twolegs fishing or kayaking. there are no kittypets around, however, because there are no actual twoleg nests nearby. any spottings of twolegs would be rare, but not impossible.

the rocks were cool under rookstar's paws as she crawled out of her nest. she shook out her red brown fur, remnants of moss and grass falling to her den floor. there was a calm breeze whistling outside when she poked her head out of her den and she stopped to breathe it in for a moment. she had always loved mornings; the quietness at first, and then the slow filter of cats waking and coming in and out of camp. even though a single night had passed, sometimes it felt like cats had aged by moons in that time. she found it funny the way she noticed things like that. to a warrior or apprentice, life felt slow and dragging. days were spent talking about trivial matters and hunting or patrolling. but as the leader, she found that time was quickly moving by. she padded out of the rock crevice she called her den and glanced around the camp. she wondered if her deputy, hickoryskip, was awake yet.

flowerstreak could feel fire singing her pelt, smoke filling her lungs. trees crashed around her as they gave way to the fire, cats yowled and shrieked. she glanced around and saw a burnt brown heap of fur lying on the rocks. she knew instantly that it was her mother. before she could go and check if she was alive, she woke with a start, panting. she was in the warriors' den, surrounded by her clanmates. there was no fire. her mother had passed moons ago. but at least she could glance over and see her remaining kin curled up beside her. she watched the slow rising and falling of her sister littleleaf's breathing. it was oddly comforting to her, stabilizing in a way. she was safe, and it had just been a bad dream.

as much as he tossed and turned in his nest, sleep had never come for adderfang. he had even gone out for a night hunt and brought back a measly mouse, but that hadn't tired him any. it had only made him more awake and more alert. he had slipped back into his nest again after that, but dawn had arrived soon after, leaving him with a surreal and vaguely unsettled feeling. the early morning sunlight filtered through the branches of the warriors' den, making him squint. he could see all his fellow warriors around him, the soft rising and falling of their breathing, the occasional snore. at least they were getting some sleep. he saw duskecho curled up nearby too, still sleeping soundly. his heart gave a little squeeze at the sight of the warrior, but he pushed it down. he wasn't the type to be mooning over anyone, as much as his heart told him differently. adderfang got up from his nest, tiptoeing through the maze of other cats and slipping out of the den again. he gazed around the cleaning and found a shady spot where he could wait while the patrols were organized and the camp woke up.

beetlepaw crouched in the undergrowth, watching a mouse eat a seed. his black tail twitched with anticipation. his muscles tensed and he sprung to catch it. when he looked between his paws, the mouse was gone in a puff of smoke. he looked up and saw another mouse. he crouched and pounced again. it had disappeared. the dream went on like this several more times before he woke. he raised his head with an unsatisfied scowl before forgetting the dream entirely. today was another day full of opportunity. maybe he would go on a patrol? maybe his mentor, swanfern, would teach him more battle moves. he jumped out of his nest with excitement, not even bothering to watch out for his sleeping denmates.

Holding back a sound of both exhaustion and excitement for the day, the silver and white she-cat got to her paws. Shaking out her coat for a moment, before leaving the den. Echocloud let out a short hum silently wondering if Hickoryskip already had planed her and her apprentice for a patrol today. The young warrior turned her gaze to the prey-pile, her mouth salivating before she forced herself to look away. Manzanitaroot would probably get the last bits of prey, so she'd have to wait like the rest. While she was rather hungry, the feline figured that she could probably sneak a quick meal in during a patrol.

indentationSleep never came easy to him, but once Paleflight was asleep it was like trying to wake a rock. Either he'd have to wake up on his own, or someone would have to constrict his breathing. Thankfully No-matter how much sleep he got, Paleflight for the most part woke up at the same time every day. His tail curled in displeasure as his eyes snapped open, and heaving a sigh the tom stepped out of his nest and carefully left the den. His gaze traveled around the clan's camp, before coming to rest on the apprentice's den, his lip curling into a sneer for all but a heartbeat. No cat would say that he was kind, but he figured that his skills as a warrior made most look over his rather abrasive personality. He took pride in each apprentice that he trained, if it took a little longer for his apprentices to reach his standard to become a warrior then so be it, they would at least be a good asset to the clan. But again, Paleflight wasn't kind by any means, rarely did the tom give out a compliment, or gentle or soft with his apprentices, or anyone really. Turning his gaze away from the apprentice's den, his gaze searched out the tabby coat of Hickoryskip.

indentationHatred was nothing new for Tigerpaw, not in any way. With her questionable heritage and the turbulence that one would expect of living in a clan warring with another, she knew hatred. Whether it's from the fact that she's half-clan, or because she's Treeclan is always debatable. Tigerpaw figured that some questioned her loyalty to the clan, and she hoped to wash that away when she rips apart the scum-sucking fox-heart that killed the closest thing she had to a father. Tigerpaw's always been a light sleeper, but these past few moons she's been woken up in the middle of nightmares - and other dreams - by the slightest pressure on her body. So when Beetlepaw excitedly - read carelessly - lept out of his nest, causing her to get hit with something. Is that moss? She drowsily wondered, blinking before sighing and getting to her paw. Might as well get up, Scorchsky probably already has plans. The she-cat mused as she shouldered her way out of the den.

After blinking the sleep away, Duskecho glanced around the den, their pale green orbs fluttering from cat to cat, mentally checking over their clan-mates. Once this was done, the feline got to their paws not bothering to groom themselves for now and trodded out of the warrior's den. Duskecho once again allowed their gaze to wander, keeping an eye out of Wingpaw, Fallenstar, and Lynxbane. Not spotting any of them the feline shrugged and flopped onto their side a few pawsteps away from the warriors den, purring loudly.

He noticed Rookstar in the clearing, but Hickoryskip was nowhere to be seen. Mapleseed turned his head back to the herbs in front of him and placed an unsheathed claw on leaves as he counted.

As the cool touch of stone seeped through layers of fur, Shiverpaw awoke to the morning chill. The longhaired tom should have been least affected by the cold, but his sister’s thick pelt had always sheltered him as he slept. Only bare stone and dry moss could support him now. Maybe he’d have to learn to support himself for a change. Blinking the drowsiness out of his soft gray eyes, Shiverpaw steeled himself for the day ahead. He couldn’t keep Rookstar waiting. Oh, why couldn’t I have Cavetoes or Littleleaf as a mentor instead? he thought with a faint shudder. The older apprentices had gotten to them first, and now little Shiverpaw was stuck with the leader. He should be grateful. Skirting around his clanmates’ sleeping forms so he wouldn’t step on anyone, the young apprentice stopped at the entrance. He peered out to camp, afraid to emerge into the open. Figuring he should start acting like a leader’s apprentice for a change, Shiverpaw took a breath and marched himself outside. He didn’t get far. His paw hit a crevice and he tumbled into a "majestic" forward somersault, landing on his back in a mess of ashen fluff. Dizzy, he lay there staring upward at the expanse of sky overhead. But the tom saw none of its wide-open wonder, instead searching for dangerous birds who might swoop in after seeing him stumble. Especially a certain Rook.

Manzanitaroot awoke with the dawn. She left behind the crisp colors of her dreams, awakening to the blur of black and gray that had become her reality. Sunrise now took on new meaning. It arrived as dove-like light through her clouded eyes, as faint sunbeams on her knotted joints. Curled up in a crumpled heap in the elder's den, she still looked asleep to the untrained eye. But her large ears pricked up tall, swiveling back and forth to take in the sounds of camp. Manzanitaroot could hear the warriors' quiet pawsteps, as well as skittish Shiverpaw's thud as he tripped over stone. An amused purr rumbled in her throat. Achingly slow, the elder pushed herself up on trembling paws. She had to find her way to the fresh-kill pile, before one of those well-meaning warriors or apprentices showed up with some scraps for breakfast. Manzanitaroot didn't hate their kindness, only their pity. She was just another burden to them, a mouth they had to feed before they ate their share. But her stiff limbs gave out beneath her. Lips curling into a scowl, she lay there a moment longer as she waited for the sun's warmth to loosen her joints. Perhaps Vaporwisp would visit her before he left on patrol.

Like always, he'd have to greet it with a smile. Giving himself a long stretch, the medicine cat rose to his feet. Antgleam glanced over at his apprentice Dovepaw, still fast asleep. He decided not to wake the young tom for now. The last thing he wanted was a cranky apprentice, though only Starclan knew when Dovepaw wasn't cranky. Whiskers twitching with a soft purr, Antgleam ducked out of the den to give him some peace and quiet. He'd leave the crinkles and clunks of herb-sorting for later. Spotting his brother under the shade of some redwood branches, Antgleam waved his tail in greeting. The cheery tom chirped, “Good morning, Adderfang! How'd you sleep last night?” He bounded over, his bright grin mixed with a hint of concern. The medicine cat knew how his brother sometimes had trouble sleeping, but just maybe he could help somehow.

Salmonsurge had slipped out of camp while stars still dusted the sky. Training waited for no one, not even for sunrise. She spent the early morning hours clawing her way up trees, safe from her clanmates' prying eyes. Salmonsurge headed back, triumphant, with a squirrel and jay dangling from her jaws. She had caught the squirrel as she chased it up a tree, never mind that she had fallen off right afterwards. Nobody could know. The warrior had licked down her ruffled tabby fur before returning. With a saunter in her step and a swish of her half-tail, Salmonsurge shoved her way back into camp. She set her catch down on the fresh-kill pile, proud to have hunted before most cats even left their nests. The she-cat sat down to watch the clan wake up. Those few that had already emerged seemed decidedly prickly, so she kept her distance unless they chose to join her. Salmonsurge didn't need their gloom ruining her good mood.

He unwantedly woke up, not really ready for the morning to start yet, but what could he do. He has no power to decide when the night comes and when it's ending. shaking his pelt he gave a lick to his front paw seeing that his one toe was being injured, likely by yesterday's failed hunt. He walked out of the warrior's den, the injured toe didn't really bother his walking, but it sure hurt a little bit, and he didn't really feel like walking anywhere. He decided to got to see the medicine cats if they had something for the small injures, so far he didn't see Mapleseed or Hailpaw, but he sure smelled them "good morning Mapleseed? Hailpaw?" he meowed keeping his voice down so he could not bother them if they were still sleeping.

She was tried to wake him up, but the tom was only hissed and turned around to sleep a little bit more, so she gives up about waking him any longer, if he wanted to sleep and miss the morning duties, all free do. She looked over at Shiverpaw the leader's apprentice, she didn't really do much anything with the younger male apprentice, so she didn't really didn't have any thought about him so far,

He laid at the shadowed place of the cleaning or near it, it was his favorite spot as having a long black fur was not nice to have on sunny days. Sometimes he feels like melting and going to the water was not an option either as he hated to get wet, why was he born with long fur? it was good against cold weather, but only then. He landed his head over his paws and looked at the cleaning, not seeing his apprentice so far, which was good, he didn't want the apprentice to begin with, but the leader gave him one, well maybe that told that the leader trusted him enough to let him train the future warrior.

She was sleeping at her nest, suddenly waking up for not any knowing reasons, which made her confused. She made a look around the den seeing how a tail of Beetlepaw disappeared out of the apprentice's den 'did he woke me up?' she thought flicking her ears. Shaking her head she noticed that she was not the only one which had this odd confusing waking, the Tigerpaw seemed as confused as she was, but Palepaw seemed to be in deep sleep still 'good for him' she thought with sight and left the den as well.
