WELCOME TO THE POETRY CLUB

Poetry -- concerning works focused on expressing feelings and ideas through interesting rhythms and styles

→ RULES:

• All normal CS rules apply, do not post poems that reference or describe items or actions that violate the code of conduct or the rules for writing content (IE. self harm, illegal drugs, abuse, or explicit content)
• Please remember to credit the author of the poems
• You can critique user made poems if asked but do not critique harshly! (IE. "This poem sucks, just scrap it")
• While using unique fonts and colors are allowed, please do not use hard to read or extremely bright colors of fonts for accessibility purposes.
• Also, for similar reasons, when adding a picture to this thread, please try to transcribe any text depicted if possible. (less of a rule and more of a suggestion, I guess.)
• Have fun! Poetry might seem very “serious” and whatnot, but silly / experimental / simple / ect. poems definitely have their own merit! :]

If you want to double check if a poem is appropriate -- or if you’re concerned about someone breaking the rules -- PM me and we can figure it out! :]

→ WHAT IS THIS CLUB FOR?
Overall, discussing poetry! That includes posting published/public poetry as well as your own! This club will also focus on:

• Poem analysis (remember! There's usually no single valid answer, just those with more textual evidence!)
• Help with finding specific words/phrases/poems
• Assistance with revising original poetry
• Giving out prompts or ideas for potential poems
• And probably other stuff!

Toasting Marshmallows by Kristine O'Connell George

I am a careful marshmallow toaster,
a patient marshmallow roaster,
turning my stick oh-so-slowly,
taking my time, checking often.
This is art---
a time of serious reflection
as my pillowed confection
slowly reaches golden perfection.

My brother
-------grabs ‘em with grubby hands
---------------shoves ‘em on the stick
--------------------- burns ‘em to a crisp
------------------------------------cools ‘em off
----------------------------------------------flicks soot
---------------------------------------------------------- eats quick.

I’m still turning my stick.
He’s already eaten six.

Hi, I'm Ambrosia, and I'm gonna be a writer. I'm working on a book of poems in addition to my novel, but I have no inspiration

Hello! That's so neat that your writing so much!! Whenever I have problems with inspiration I usually just write whatever phrases comes to mind until I come across a metaphor I enjoy... But that's probably the most convoluted solution to writers block.
Trying to write poems in different styles also tends to help for me as well!
Do you have a theme going for your poetry book, or is it just a collection of works you've made?

It's just a collection of poems I'm writing. It's called Shards Of Glass - 365 days of poems.
Well, 366, cause I'm adding a bonus poem for leap years xD

It's a bit early, but i've changed the poem of the month for august! also added a theme and prompt section!
Also, here's a haiku i wrote :]

Hazy dream at dawn
The bed inescapable
Can this never stop?
