The puppies traveled so well and really took everything in stride. I am just so proud of them and I always get such amazing reports on their siblings.
Thora and her brother Rowan came out with a few class wins but no progress to their championships. It was the most competitive show I have been to and the entry was beautiful so I really can't complain! Especially since Thora isn't in show condition yet after her litter and I mostly entered for the practice and to support our local collie clubs.
May made her veterans debut and showed in two of the six shows that weekend. She came out with a big win in an entry of 35 smooth collies! After two and a half years out of the ring, a difficult litter, and two root canals, I had just entered her for fun and for my friend to show. For her to come out with a win under a breeder judge that I really respect was amazing. Of course, she finally came into heat again after a 15-month gap so I will be spaying her soon lol which drastically limits what shows she could enter, but I mostly plan to focus on getting Thora titled anyway.
This will probably be our last show for a while, which is sad, since it was our first show in a year and a half. My dad is pretty sick and I have had to withdraw from school. Traveling for dog shows just really isn't in the cards at the moment. Thora needs time to come back into condition though and the kiddos will need time to mature.

Here is Rowan, Thora's littermate and May's son. It was so great to see him again and it always amazes me how much he is *just* like his mother in temperament haha.

May celebrating her return to the ring by rolling around in my friend's backyard haha. She had such a fun time!

Scribble and Whimsy honestly handled it all so well. They were easier to travel with than Thora and Rowan lol! It was such great socialization for them as well.

I could not find anything with just Thora, so here is the entire family hanging out in one of the dog yards last week before we headed out on the road. The kids have definitely sprouted up since then!

this stinky little man got a haircut on Saturday. He looks much better but the groomer somehow managed to clip too close to his you-know-whats and gave him razor rash

So since Gizmo passed, my brother has been wanting another dog.

It’s been almost a year. He feels like he’s ready.

But he wants a corgi.

A breed he wouldn’t be able to keep up with. And he won’t listen to me when I say that. He spends almost the entirety of the day on the computer yet only knows the popular breeds and won’t do any research on even a look at a mixed breed from a shelter.

He wants small/medium breed. I think 40 is a hard limit for his preferences. He’s dead set on a corgi though. 🤦‍♀️

Maybe he could find some kind of small terrier

hm. Honestly I wouldn't recommend most terriers for beginner dog owners. What is he wanting in a dog? Just a companion?
a few i'd recommend my own family are;
Mini American Shepherd
Chihuahua
King Charles Spaniel

when wellbred and given proper socialization and training I'd trust even my mom with these breeds /lh
But there's also a lot of already-trained adult dogs at rescues that could fit his lifestyle; would he agree just to go and hang out
with a few dogs for a bit?

My mom won’t own another floppy ear dog after our last cocker spaniel. Constant ear infections and eventually went completely deaf.

He wants one for a companion. Like Gizmo was. He has no interest in training it himself, and he didn’t keep up with Gizmo’s training and Gizmo ended up being “my special boy who can do no wrong” as the teacup chihuahua went after my 110 pound mutt and ended up getting really hurt last time.

Breeds ruled out for him are the breeds he likes.
Husky, Klee Kai, chihuahua, floppy eared spaniels, and a few others I can’t think of rn.

Honestly, I don’t think he’s ready for another dog based on the care of his last dog.

Oh yes that does happen with floppy eared dogs. Someone I know has a brittany spaniel that got bad infection in his ear. In the end it was deep enough and around the eardrum he had surgery and now hes all better!

Maybe you could suggest another pet to him or something

oh yeah, we have a Brittany mix and she is prone to ear infections, if your brother cant keep up with grooming needs you should suggest a different pet

How do you make a dog more,,active? My dad takes her out for walks daily but she's still super tired at home. She's never interested in toys for some reason,,



also I tried to pat her and she just gave me this look, then groaned and went back to sleep
