Disinclined as she is toward brute force, her claws will be unsheathed in a heartbeat if her loved ones are in danger.

    Slow and steady wins the race, so far as Dancing Embers is concerned. As a kit and apprentice, she held to a much different philosophy and very much lacked the impulse control she now possesses, but as sheโ€™s aged, she has settled more into taking a methodical, consistent approach to a great many situations. She is diligent and hard-workingโ€”and stubborn, willing to persist through and endure almost anything. She is not without her occasional moments of recklessness, but overall, Dancing Embers prefers moving and acting at a gradual, deliberate pace. Her patience has its limits, of course, and it is perhaps a good thing that seeing her snap with anger is as rare as it is. Sheโ€™s also not against incorporating some risk into working toward goals, and can be daring when she considers it worthwhile.

    Though her meticulous, stagnant way of life can keep Dancing Embers focused and patient, it also makes her resistant to change, whether minor or major. She can adjust, but it takes a significant amount of time, which is often not an option. Her obstinance also means that pushing her is a lost cause, and in fact tends to make her cling harder to what she knows and is comfortable with. Loosening up emotionally is also difficult for her; sheโ€™s used to seriousness, and only truly lets it fall away when anger takes its place. The best anyone can hope for is that when it does, it isnโ€™t directed at them.

    On the surface, Wavepaw appears to be a calm, sharp, quick-witted youth with a wisdom and maturity exceeding his moons. He is serious and composed, rarely letting emotions slip beyond his carefully-maintained facade. Though he prefers to keep to himself, he isnโ€™t quite shy, just quiet and introverted, as well as intent on accomplishing things on his own, though heโ€™ll swallow this deep-seated independence if teamwork is required of him. Overall, however, Wavepaw is self-sufficient and reserved, preferring not to call attention to himself or stand out. Due to this, he can seem cold and aloof, and when he does interact with others, he can be insensitive and blunt, overlooking and failing to understand othersโ€™ emotions as well as his own. That said, he avoids full-blown confrontation at all costs.

    Wavepawโ€™s cool, careful front is only thatโ€”beneath it, he is deeply high-strung, with a timid, insecure nature more befitting of his age. His mentality is that of the fake it until you make it variety, but heโ€™s not even certain about how well heโ€™s managing that, as he seems to struggle with cloaking his true feelings. Anxious about anything and everything, Wavepaw is quick to feel overwhelmed, causing him to retreat further into his shell. He is particularly concerned about the prospect of doing things wrong or even just imperfectly; as a result, he tends to look toward those he considers more competent than himself for guidance, though he tries not to make this obvious or outright ask for help. Making decisions on his own intimidates him, and in this respect, he is something of a doormat, going along with the judgment of anyone he trusts without bothering to think things through himself.

    The most apt description of Wavepaw would perhaps be that he has potential but lacks the initiative and confidence to hone it. He is a skilled hunter, and though he is not as adept a fighter, he can hold his own in combat, but his ever-pressing concern about not doing things right hinders him from making great strides in either area. His desperation to prove himself, then, works against rather than for him. In the end, he is truly his own worst enemy, and as pressure bears down, it is beginning to show.

    looks like most of our forms are up, so I will work on getting a first post up some time this week! I've just started a summer course for school, so it may not be until this weekend at the latest. feel free to discuss your characters, the plot, etc. here of course.

    in case anyone needs to brush up:
      the ignis queen, spark, had a premature birth that caused driftclan to have to halt their journey over the mountains to reach their white-season hunting grounds. leaf-fall is ending, and the clan needs to decide how they're going to make it through leafbare, and whether they should brave the mountains, stay where they are, or leave in search of territory that would be able to sustain them better than where they are now. most matriarchs have a different opinion, so there's a bit of tension between them and their tribes and some cats fear the tribes might split up
