--- In the early-mid 1970s, a listless, burned-out
PhD student happened to stumble upon Lethe s-
eeking inspiration and meaning—suffice to say,
they did not return to school the following fall
term. In the time since, however, Nova still ha-
sn’t quite recaptured the spark of their youth.
Few, if any, have come to learn a significant a-
mount more about them since their arrival; pr-
ivate and aloof, they are a loner who can rarely
even be seen in the light of day. When they do
come into contact with others, they tend to be
blunt, brusque, and argumentative. They’ll give
people just as much respect as is obligatory an-
d no more. They have little interest in pretend-
ing to be something they’re not—their honesty
tends to be of the brutal sort, but it’s honesty
nevertheless, so far as they’re concerned.
--- Beneath their front, Nova can be gentle and
kind—they just have trouble letting people in e-
nough to let that show. They’re not necessarily
stoic or serious, but they’re not fond of openly
displaying their emotions. Under the surface, t-
hey feel things very deeply, and they’re incred-
ibly passionate about what they enjoy, which r-
ange from—of course—the stars to literature to
philosophy to classic rock music. When they do
latch onto someone, they’re loyal to the finish,
and they tend to be fairly intuitive and sensitive
to others’ feelings, even if they don’t often ext-
end compassion. In general, they’ll devote the-
mself fully to anything that catches their atten-
tion—or at least they used to. Nova’s drive, am-
bition, and intelligence are still obvious under a
close enough examination, but it’s clear they’re
still seeking something more out of life than th-
ey’ve gotten and no longer have the tools with
which to go about this.
